Most people are paranoid schizophrenics

Ascended Master Jesus, June 17, 2012 through Kim Michaels.

Do you not see that as long as you are trapped in the dualistic consciousness, you are paranoid, you are schizophrenic. There is no way around it. The fact of the matter is that what the psychological establishment labels as paranoid schizophrenics are only people who have taken to the extreme a malady that affects 99.9% of the people on this planet. Most people are paranoid schizophrenics, it is just that some forms of paranoid schizophrenia are so common that they are considered normal.

There comes a point where someone has to stand up and say: “The Emperor has nothing on.” It has to be acknowledged that if you truly want peace, you must step out, step beyond, the dualistic polarities, for you cannot find peace there. This is what the Buddha attempted to explain in the Four Noble Truths. The first Noble Truth is commonly seen as saying that life is suffering, but the deeper reality is that as long as you are in duality, life is suffering.

It is the dualistic polarities that pull between them that turns you into a house divided against itself and that causes you to not be at peace. There are, of course, many different definitions of suffering but if you go below the surface appearances, is it not so that suffering is caused by non-peace. If you are not at peace, you are suffering.

The moment you attain inner peace, your suffering is transcended even if the outer conditions are still not ideal. If you have peace of mind, you are not suffering and this is why you see some people at old age, when their bodies begin to show wear, can still find inner peace.

How to attain inner peace

Indeed, it is very rare when you look at the earth to see those who are at peace with themselves. We of the ascended masters would, of course, love to see all who are familiar with our teachings attain this inner peace.

But you will not attain it until you come to the point of being willing to look at yourself and say: “I am not at peace, am I? No I am not at peace, but then why am I not at peace? What is the feeling I have, what is the reactionary patterns that pull me out of peace? Why do I react this way, what is the deeper belief behind my reactionary patterns, the deeper belief about myself, about life?”

If you look closely, you will gradually – as you use the tools we have given, and other tools available in the world – you will gradually come to greater clarity where you see these very subtle beliefs that you have. An expectation of what life should be, and life is not that way so you suffer because you strive towards that opposite polarity where life is the way you think it should be.

There comes a point where you have to ask yourself: “Will I forever be chasing my expectations, will I forever be seeking to make the universe conform to my expectations?” Or will I stand back, look at my expectation and say: “Is it the expectation that is keeping me trapped in suffering and not the outer conditions?” When you come to that realization, that is when you truly start the spiritual path to Christhood and even Buddhahood and beyond.

Why people cannot be at peace with themselves

Ascended Master Jesus, June 17, 2012 through Kim Michaels.

Moving on to the topic of how you can come to see through the inferiority-superiority, or the superiority-inferiority, dynamic, what I desire to bring you is the perspective from the sixth ray of peace. Indeed, when you are in the consciousness of duality, you cannot be at peace. It is simply impossible, and why is it impossible? It is impossible because one dualistic polarity cannot exist without the other.

You cannot take one dualistic quality or polarity and have it exist alone, independently, separated. It can only exist in a relationship, in a bond, with the opposite polarity. This means that when you go into the consciousness of duality, you will have both polarities in your mind. They will pull your being in opposite directions, and that is why you can never be at peace, truly at peace within yourself.

If you are a person who is trapped in feeling superior most of the time, you cannot escape the fact that you are superior only compared to some who are inferior. Thus, you need to defend your superiority, or even expand it indefinitely in a race that never ends. It cannot be any other way.

If you are the kind of person who is primarily dominated by inferiority, you still cannot escape superiority. You know that there are some that are superior to you and they might be suppressing you and you might find the need to fight against them. Or perhaps you are not fighting, but you are dreaming about one day rising to the status of superiority.

Do you not see, my beloved, if you look at many of the old folk tales and fairy tales found on this earth, many of the modern books, many of the modern movies, do you not see that they are geared to the dynamic that has dominated this earth for a long time? Namely that we have a small elite who is superior and a larger population that is inferior.

You see many of these stories that portray a person that is first unworthy, unknown, of a low estate or treated unjustly and then something miraculous happens and the person is suddenly elevated to a superior status. This is the dream of those in inferiority, but it is also the dream of those in superiority: to keep the people believing that one day some miracle could happen and they might be raised to a status of superiority.

Instead, the reality is that if you are willing to start taking responsibility for yourself, you can follow a systematic path that will not raise you to a status of superiority, but that will take you out of inferiority and out of superiority. You will raise yourself into the abundant life that comes directly from within and is not dependent upon the appearances of this world.

The test of overcoming all expectations

Ascended Master Ascended Master Patrick, May 18, 2007 through Kim Michaels.

There is a teaching I would give you, that relates to what I started talking about, of my feeling somewhat depressed over the lack of response. And I must tell you that this came from my own conditions, from my own expectations, where my spiritual vision of going to Ireland had been used in subtle ways by my ego to create the expectation of certain outer results, of seeing a physical manifestation of many people converted. Even a subtle sense that I could see the results from my labor, not that I had a desire to be elevated, but I had a desire to see that my labor had borne fruit, that I had made a difference.

This is something that all Saints and spiritual people have struggled with and must struggle with. For the spiritual path, as we have said, is not an outer path, so in a sense why would you expect outer results? Yet I realize full well – for I have gone through it myself – that there is a point on the path, where you need to see some result of your action in order to keep going. And therefore, at the lower levels of the path, you do need to see that you are making a difference, by seeing outer differences, outer results. But I tell you, as you walk the path – especially when you come closer to Christhood – there will come an essential initiation, where you will need to let go of all your expectations, all of your conditions of wanting to see a certain outer result. For if you do not, you cannot manifest your Christhood.

For the Christ is completely non-attached to what response he gets from the people on earth, for he is not here to awaken them. He is here to let his light so shine before men, that they have the opportunity to see that there is an alternative to the serpentine, human state of consciousness. But the Christ knows that he is not here to choose for them, but to give them the opportunity to choose, which they did not have when they had only seen people who talked religion based on the serpentine mind.

If you think back to your own experience of walking that mountain yesterday, you will see that you might have a certain vision, a certain expectation, of what might happen at the top. Certain things you would like to see, certainly a little ray of sunshine and a lot less rain, or perhaps other expectations. But I must tell you that those who are the true overcomers on the spiritual path – those who win their ascension, those who fulfill their divine plans – are those who are willing to take a look at such expectations and say, “I am not here to fulfill these outer expectations and conditions. For I am only here to let my light shine.”

When you have expectations, especially when you have expectations of how other people should respond to you speaking the Word, well then you set yourself up in a dualistic situation, where your inner fulfillment and peace depends on something outside yourself, depends on other people who have free will. And it is predictable, is it not, that there will be some people to whom you preach the Living Word, who will use their free will to refuse to rise above the serpentine consciousness. And thus, they will refuse to go along with you, and when they reject the opportunity to come up higher, what must they do? Well, their egos must justify this rejection, and how do they do this? By criticizing you, by putting you down, by putting your teaching down, by finding slick serpentine ways to cast doubt on the validity on your teaching, the purity of your motive or any other thing they can think of.

So you need to recognize that some of you are reluctant to stand up and let your light shine. And surely, we who have ascended all understand this, because we have gone through it. But I tell you, we went through it precisely because we came to the point, where we recognized that we were not here to please or even awaken other people. We were here to let our light shine. And that was our job. That was our job number one, as they say. And it was the only job.

So you see, when you make that shift – and it is a fundamental shift in consciousness – your inner fulfillment does not depend on anything outside yourself. And it is only then that the prince of this world will have nothing in you, whereby he can discourage or scare you into not sharing your light at all. Or whereby he can play on your pride and get you to feel that surely you must be pleasing to God because you have preached to all these people and done this or that to promote this or that teaching.

Do you see my beloved, there is always the two dualistic polarities of fear and pride, the inferiority/superiority complex. For one cannot exist without the other, but YOU can exist without both of them—when the conscious self recognizes that it is more than this dualistic personality and identity. And thus, you are willing to let it die, as Mother Mary said. You realize that surrendering this dualistic personality is not a loss but a gain.

This is what happened to me that day, when I sat at that creek. I finally saw the folly of my attachment to outer results. For why did I start my mission in Ireland? Because I had a divine vision, an inner spiritual vision. And so what was the folly of thinking that I could only continue following that vision if I have certain outer manifestations. No, I needed to be true to the inner vision, to be non-attached to the outer. And when I had that non-attachment, I can assure you that I had further visions, and I felt a much greater inner fulfillment than I could ever have felt, even if the entire country of Ireland and been converted by me personally.

The essence of the spiritual path is surrender

Ascended Master Mother Mary, May 18, 2007 through Kim Michaels.

Certainly, it was a big surrender for me to break off my very comfortable and regimented monastic lifestyle to suddenly go back into the world and have a child. It was, again, a big adjustment to realize that we had to take that child out of Israel and flee to Egypt. There were many other adjustments as Jesus grew up and as he gained a clearer vision of his mission, and I gained a clearer vision.

Joseph’s death was a big adjustment for me, left with many children. When Jesus left home at an early age to go on his spiritual pilgrimage—when he came back. Certainly my beloved, when I stood in front of the cross watching him struggle and finally watching him give up the ghost of him giving up the last of his conditions, which inspired me to give up the conditions I had about how my son’s life and mission should unfold. For as Jesus has explained, he had certain illusions until the very end on the cross. And I too had certain illusions about how his spiritual mission should unfold. I even had certain illusions that I held on to after that, until the end of my embodiment when I finally let go of them all.

I simply tell you this: you have already surrendered much to be where you are right now. You have surrendered much, my beloved. So is it so difficult to accept that the path is about one thing—surrender, letting go of conditions? For once you accept this, it becomes so much easier to surrender the conditions. For you realize that the more you surrender, the more free you feel inside. And so you build a momentum, and once you get beyond a certain point, you realize that surrender is not loss, surrender is not sacrifice, surrender is not the Via Dolorosa. Surrender is joy. Surrender is freedom. And the more you let go of, the more free you are.

This is my gift to you this morning, the gift of surrender. Should you need help surrendering or gaining a clear vision of what to surrender – seeing the illusion so you can let it go – then apply to my heart. Give a rosary if you feel you need to. Or simply ask me and then listen for my answer. Listen both within and without. For I will find a way to give you the answer you seek. If you cannot hear me in your heart, I will send you a book or a person who will tell you.

The beauty of a spiritual community is that when you come together, you can help each other see things that you could not see in yourself. And I tell you again, the more unconditional acceptance you can have in your community, the more you can help each other and the faster you can grow both individually and collectively. For truly, we have no greater desire than to see a spiritual movement, a spiritual community, that will manifest what very few communities have manifested throughout the ages, namely an environment where everyone is unconditionally accepted for who they are. This does not mean that this is a community where anything goes and where the ego and the people who are caught in a serpentine consciousness of wanting control and power can control the community. But it means an environment where everyone can feel accepted.

For I must tell you that if you can create such an environment, you have the greatest protection possible against those who seek to destroy or control. For they will not be able to handle an environment where they are accepted. They want you to reject them, my beloved, because it confirms their essential illusion that they are separated from you and separated from God. And this is the illusion they need in order to maintain their need to feel that they are better than others. For they have not yet tired of playing the dualistic game that Jesus so eloquently spoke about at the last conference.

So my beloved, I leave you with the unconditional acceptance of a Mother’s heart. And I commend you for your willingness to share your heart flames. And I ask you to ponder how to unconditionally accept each other. But do not forget to look in the mirror and work on unconditionally accepting yourself. Thus, I seal you in the unconditional acceptance of my Mother’s heart, which truly can hold all people on this beautiful planet. Be at peace in my love.

Do whatever it takes to let go of your conditions

Ascended Master Mother Mary, May 18, 2007 through Kim Michaels.

Sometimes it is indeed necessary for you to ascend a physical mountain, in order to realize that you did not need to ascend the mountain because you can find it all inside yourself. Yet there is nothing wrong with ascending the mountain in order to come to that realization. Yet there is nothing wrong with going halfway or not going at all. You see, whatever you have to do on the outer to be able to surrender the outer, it is fully acceptable.

But I wish to impart to you – and I wish I could inspire you to impart to the world – that the essence of the spiritual path, the essence of salvation, is precisely to overcome the inner condition that makes you think you have to fulfill an outer condition. And when you realize that – when you fully realize it – then you can let go of the outer conditions. You can be reborn of the Spirit.

Did not Jesus say to Nicodemus (John 3:5), that in order to enter the kingdom, a man must be born of water and he must be born of Spirit? Well, following an outer path is the process of being born of water. But when you come to the point of realizing what I have just explained – that it is not the outer conditions, but it is letting go of the inner conditions – well, then you can experience the total surrender – the unconditional surrender – that brings about the rebirth of the Spirit, whereby you can suddenly accept who you are. And when you accept who you are right now, then you can let go of what is unreal instead of holding on to it.

Do you understand the very subtle psychological mechanism that comes into play when you accept the serpentine lie that in order to enter God’s kingdom you have to be acceptable to God—and what determines whether you are acceptable to God is whether you fulfill certain outer conditions defined in this world by some institution or teacher or even by your own ego? When you believe that in order to be saved, you have to fulfill these outer conditions, well the psychological mechanism that comes into play is that you cannot fully accept that you have these conditions. You cannot, as Jesus has said, take ownership of them.

And when you cannot take ownership of them, you cannot surrender them. For you cannot look at them squarely and say, “But this is unreal. And I no longer need to carry this with me. I no longer need to accept this condition or to accept the belief that caused me to accept whatever illusion I have carried around for a long time.”

So when you think the path is about fulfilling outer conditions, it becomes impossible for you to look at your own imperfections, to look at your human condition and say, “This is unreal, this has to go.” Instead, you do what so many people in the world do. They ignore the beam in their own eye. And either they focus all attention on the splinter in the eye of another or they focus on the outer path, saying that if only I give so many Hail Marys and light so many candles or walk up a mountain barefoot and put myself through this or that pain, then God will have to accept me, even though I have not let go of the conditions that keep me – in my own mind – outside the inner kingdom.

When you come to that realization – that God accepts you for who you are right now – then you can say, “Well if God can accept me even though I might look at myself as being an imperfect human being, well then certainly I can accept myself.” And the reason why you should be able to accept yourself is precisely this: God has given you free will. And what that means is that God has given you the right to enter this world and to create a certain world view based on whatever conditions you have chosen to accept. And God has set up the universe as a mirror, to mirror that view back to you, so that you can create for yourself any experience you desire.

You must choose to let go of your conditions

Do you see that God gave you free will? God has given you the right to create the experience that you are having right now—because you have free will. And God accepts that you have a right to create your present experience. But my beloved, when you realize what the path is all about, you realize that you can let go of the experience you have right now at any moment. When you realize that, number one, it is unreal; and number two, I have had enough of that experience. I don’t want it anymore. I don’t need it anymore. When you come to that realization, your path will take on a new meaning. Your life will change because you suddenly realize that all of the outer conditions are unreal, and they cannot keep you outside the kingdom unless you allow them to do so by continuing to accept them.

This is precisely what the world wants you to do. The world wants you to continue to accept these conditions that you have come to believe and that the world still believes: your family, your friends, your society, the world at large, your priests. They want you to accept the conditions that they accept. For if you do not, you disturb them in their belief that they could not change themselves, that they don’t have to take responsibility for their own lives and their own salvation. For they can just wait for Jesus to appear in the sky or wait for some miraculous apparition by Mother Mary or wait for Saint Patrick to come back in some chariot of fire to lift up the people.

This is why there has always been idolatry of the saints and the sages who have stood out from the crowd. For by elevating us, it gives people’s egos an excuse for saying, “They were special so I cannot do what they did.” But if you will honestly look at my life as Mother Mary, what was so spectacular that I did in that lifetime? I gave birth to a child. But have not many women done so? Surely, he was at times a difficult child, but certainly other children have been a challenge to their parents. Some of you would probably admit that you challenged your parents in many ways. And some of you feel that your children have been a great challenge. So why was I so different?

If there was one thing that I would want the world to learn from my lifetime as Mary, it was that what was special about me was my willingness to surrender—to surrender everything, to flow with the inner prompting that came from my higher Being. Ah, you say, but did I not have an angel appear to me and tell me what to do? And yes, but how do you know how that apparition took place? For I can assure you that it was not the version that Hollywood has come up with in their ever-accelerating quest to do better than the latest movie and to have more special effects or more violence.

This is again the idolatry of the world that wants to create these conditions. For your ego is born of conditions. Your ego seriously and truly believes that it could not survive without conditions. Which is true because the moment you let go of your conditions, your ego will have no hold over you. Neither your ego nor the prince of the world will have anything in you. So your ego does not want you to surrender because the more conditions you have, the more your ego has control over you and the more comfortable your ego feels.

There are many people in the world who have become so identified with their egos, that they are so comfortable in having created this very neat little box for themselves, where they feel they have everything under control and their lives are so ritualized, and every morning they get up and they do the exact same thing. And they go to work and they come home and they watch the same shows on TV and everything is ritualized and regimented. And yet if they were thrown into a new situation, an unexpected situation, they would disintegrate. They would not be able to handle it.

You see in your own lives that you have been willing to come away from your comfortability, to find the spiritual path in whatever form and allow it to change your life. The only true difference between those of us who have ascended and those who have not ascended is that we were willing to surrender – gradually – all of our conditions. We were willing to die daily (1Co 15:31), as Paul said, to have some of our conditions die every day. And we kept doing this over and over and over again, until there suddenly was nothing more to surrender because we truly had been willing to lose our lives for the sake of following Christ.

The initiation of non-attachment

Ascended Master Gautama Buddha, October 1, 2006 through Kim Michaels.

It is not necessarily easy to always know what is right with God. And the reason for this is that there is no outer rule that can be given in this world for what is right according to God’s absolute reality. For each situation, each person, is different. In one situation it might be right to do one thing. But in another situation, that might seem similar based on outer appearances, it may be right to do what seems to be the opposite. And thus, you cannot know this by setting up rules with the analytical mind that loves to create labels and say that, “Under these circumstances you should always do this. And under those circumstances you should always do that.”

Well, my beloved, this will not work. For then you have pulled yourself into the realm of the intellect which can only operate in the field of duality. Yet you can attain much by consciously working on non-attachment. For truly, when you are non-attached to the outer appearances, you will not be tempted to respond according to a human standard for what should be right in this or that situation. You will then be able to reach up for the higher reality of God, so you will spontaneously do what is right.

Yet in order to do what is right with God, you must realize that non-attachment is not the same as indifference. If you will study my life as the Buddha incarnate, you will notice that I walked a path of attaining complete non-attachment to the things of this world. And then, after having attained that non-attachment which is commonly in Buddhist terms called Enlightenment, I still faced an initiation that many Buddhists do not understand or even look upon. For I faced the temptation that the forces of this world said, “Oh, but what you have seen, what you have attained, is far too advanced or complicated for the people on earth. You will not be able to explain it to them. They will not be able to understand it. None will understand you, so don’t bother to go out in the world and bear witness to your truth. Just stay in Nirvana and leave the world to the forces of duality. Do not attempt to enlighten the people, for they will not understand.”

Well, I passed that initiation only by connecting to the I AM THAT I AM within me, to Brahman himself. And through that connection I got the clear impulse: “Some will understand.” And I went out and started preaching my truth and some did indeed understand. Thus, you will face the same initiation. First you face the initiation of attaining non-attachment to other people’s reactions, so that when they reject your light, your God Flame, your truth, you are non-attached to their reactions. And you do not allow their rejection to become an excuse that the ego can use to trick you into turning off your light or being quiet about challenging the unreality on earth.

Yet in attaining and working on that non-attachment, you will then come to the temptation of thinking, “What is the point of seeking to enlighten people when they are so far down into the consciousness of duality and seemingly are so uninterested in anything spiritual?” It is a delicate balance to remain non-attached but at the same time not to become indifferent, not to give up, not to become a pacifist who just sits there and lets the world do what it will do without challenging what is unreal. And each of you must find your own balance, for I tell you, there is an idolatry in the world which thinks that it was easy for me to walk the path and pass my initiations and then find my balance and go out and preach my truth.

Likewise, they say it was easy for Jesus to pass his initiations and then go out and witness to his truth. But I tell you that it was fully as difficult for Jesus and myself as it is for you. We all have certain elements of the human condition that we must surrender and overcome before we manifest a higher state of consciousness. And the human conditions that each of us have are precisely those conditions that are the hardest for us to see. So Jesus was not born in the fullness of his Christhood. And I was not born in the fullness of Buddhahood, as is clearly seen in our lives.

Therefore, we too had to overcome our own points of blindness that we could not see. And precisely that which we could not see was as difficult for us to overcome as it is for each of you to overcome that which you cannot see. Do you see, my beloved, it is such an illusion to think that Jesus and I and other spiritual masters were above you and that it was so much easier for us. For indeed it was not easy at all. But the fact that we made it should be an encouragement that you too can make it. For as has been the motto of the ascended masters for a long time, “What one has done all can do.” And in this age we might say, “What one is Being, all can Be!” For truly it is not doing that is the key but Being.

Loving yourself is the essential key

Ascended Master God Meru, July 3, 2006 through Kim Michaels.

My Beloved, what will it take for a critical mass of people to manifest the necessary degree of Christhood, to hold the balance in these critical early phases of the Golden Age? Well, it will take the healing of psychology. And here I would like to point out – in the strongest way I possibly can – that there is indeed a large number of people on this planet who have been pursuing their spiritual growth for decades. They have followed various practices, various teachers and teachings—they have made progress. But I must tell you that a substantial portion of them have not passed the critical point on the path, the critical point whereby they have healed their psychology to the point, where they are able to fully accept that they are sons and daughters of God in embodiment.

Accepting that you are a son or daughter of God means that you are perfectly able to love yourself. For if you cannot love yourself, then you cannot fully accept that you are a son or daughter of God. You cannot fully accept that you are worthy to be a son or daughter of God. You cannot fully accept that you are worthy to walk the earth as a Christed Being, and you cannot accept that you are worthy to express your Christhood, to express Christ truth, and to challenge the errors of the consciousness of anti-christ.

And if you do not accept that you are fully worthy to be a representative of God on earth, then you will be overwhelmed by the onslaught of the forces of anti-christ, even the forces of many well-meaning people around you, who will not accept that you come out and declare that you know Christ truth, whereas they for some reason have come to believe that according to this or that guru or spiritual teaching one is not supposed to make that declaration.

Yet as has been said by Jesus, Christhood that is not expressed in a selfless pursuit of freeing other people is not Christhood. It is not Christhood that is manifest. And thus, it does God and the ascended masters no good for you to sit in some remote cave, meditating twenty-four hours a day—even if you have reached a certain inner state of purity of meditation. What is needed in this time is that those who have manifested their Christhood at inner levels also dare to express it by helping others.

Unless you are selflessly working to help others, you have not truly manifested Christhood. And what will it take for you to clear that hump, where you are not longer focused on your own growth? What will it take for you to throw away that sense of self and work selflessly for the greater cause of the ascended masters, for the greater cause of raising the consciousness of humankind? Well, it will take that one thing, my beloved—that you come to the point of fully, finally loving yourself because you fully, finally accept that you are lovable and that you are loved by God precisely because you were created by God as an individualization of God’s very own Being. And thus you sprang from love, and you came from love and you are fully lovable.

This is the essential key. And I must tell you that the prince of this world, the forces of this world – working with your own individual ego – have managed to come up with all kinds of schemes, whereby they have made people believe that they should not love themselves. Yet if you do not love yourself, you cannot follow Jesus’ commandment. And what was his commandment, when he was asked about the most important commandment of the law? Well, he said that the first commandment is to love God with all your heart, soul and mind. And the second one is to love your neighbor as yourself.

In order to love your God, you must love yourself as God, as an individualization of God—so that you love God as your own higher being. You love God as your greater Self. And in order to love others as yourself, you must know that they too are extensions of God. And therefore, they are extensions of your own greater self, and therefore you are connected to them through your own connection to God. And thus, you can love others as yourself, as your own greater Self – in a horizontal sense – in the material world. This is the love that will transform this world into the Golden Age of Saint Germain.

The path of total humility

Ascended Master Jesus, July 5, 2005 through Kim Michaels.

Therefore, I am putting up a sign, for I am looking for those who are willing to help co-create the Golden Age. And you might have seen on businesses, there is a sign saying, “Help wanted. Apply within.” I am putting up that sign, because your help is wanted. And you must apply within, meaning within yourself, by going within and discovering that ego, and then letting it go.

Yet, I also have certain conditions. Two thousand years ago I spent a considerable amount of time and energy dealing with those who were not willing to even consider that they needed to change, that they had an ego; those who thought they were perfect, those who thought they were the wise ones, they were God’s chosen people and they did not need to change themselves. It was everyone else who had a problem and everyone else who needed to change. My big sign says, “Help wanted. Apply within.” But the small letters underneath say, “Hypocrites need not apply.”

The path that I offer is the path I offered 2,000 years ago. It is the path of total humility. And even my disciples, who had spent three years with me, had not fully understood that path. And that is why they started arguing amongst themselves, concerning who would be greatest among them when I left. At that moment I had one of these “hitting the concrete experiences,” and I said to myself, “Does that mean that after three years they have not understood your message? Have you not been able to penetrate and make them see what the path is all about?”

And today I am in a much better position because there are many people who can see what the path is about. It is not the way that seemeth right unto a man, which is the glorification of the ego. Instead, it is the path of the total humility, of letting go of all of the pride of the ego, so that you can simply walk away from it and be free. This is the path I offer. I offer it with all of my love. And I will lovingly guide you to that point of freedom. Yet I must also say that love is not always soft, for sometimes you need a firm hand to be awakened. And this relates also to how you approach other people about the spiritual path.

Jesus illustrated the path of surrender

Ascended Master Mother Mary, February 20, 2005 through Kim Michaels.

I request that, as you give this rosary, you spend a little time contemplating the true meaning of the events that took place almost 2,000 years ago, when my Son Jesus demonstrated the path that leads you to surrender yourself entirely to the Will of God. I ask you to contemplate that the events that led to the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus illustrate the process that your soul can go through as it separates itself from the anti-will of the ego and is resurrected into oneness with the true will of God.

Your ego represents all of the people, all of the forces, that attacked Jesus and sought to prevent him from fulfilling his mission. Your ego represent the people who nailed Jesus to the cross, as your soul is truly nailed to the cross of ego-illusions. And thus, Jesus’ final surrender on the cross, where he gave up the ghost, represents the point of total surrender, where the Conscious You finally decides that it will no longer engage in the ego-illusions, that it will no longer seek to defend or justify them, that it will no longer seek to hide or defend its original choice to turn away from God. Instead, it will surrender that choice, and the ego-illusions that sprang from it. It will give up the ghost of this anti-will, these illusions. And thus it will allow its own ego, and the sense of identity – the soul – built on the ego, to die on the cross. And in allowing the ego to die, the Conscious You is then resurrected into the true life, the immortal life, of knowing that you are a son or daughter of God, an individualization of God, that sprang from the will of God, the desire of God to be more through you.

Thus, you attain immortal life because you are now willing to perpetually transcend yourself, to become more of who you are. You are no longer trapped by the desire to defend the mortal identity of your ego, causing you to seek to stop your growth rather than allowing that growth to take you beyond your limited sense of identity.

Psychological aspects of the path

The path of Christhood is an inner path where progress depends on your willingness to look into your own mind. It is essential to identify the attachments and conditions you have, so that you can let go of them.

On the path of Christhood, it is dangerous to hold on to things on earth. Instead, total surrender is the key to victory. You cannot force your way into Christhood. You can enter only by letting go of everything on earth, being willing to lose your “life” for the sake of following Christ.
