When you are stuck in one of the dualistic roles, you might think that you can do anything you want, but if you do not fully understand what is involved with the decision, you are not making a free decision.

Again, because you have free will, you can envelop yourself in a limited state of mind, where you do not have free choice, but it is not God’s will that you stay there forever. And that is why the Living Christ is sent to earth. That is why the Word incarnates—in order to awaken people to the reality that there is an alternative to the entire decision-making process in which they are currently stuck.

How can people escape duality? Well, they can do so only by reaching for something outside their current mental box. And indeed, in the beginning it is necessary for people to have some kind of hard-and-fast rule which says essentially, “If you do this, you will go to hell. If you do that, you will go to heaven.” For this allows people an absolute guideline that their own egos cannot manipulate. And if they will follow that guideline, even as many people do in a traditional Christian churches – where they are very black-and-white in terms of following outer rules – well, then they can at least gradually grow out of the total domination of the ego, the total inability to determine what is right and wrong in a higher sense. For everything seems gray to them or everything seems dualistic.

Yet as we have explained, there comes that point, where you have to step up and not simply follow the outer rules, but go within and get your direction from within instead of blindly following an outer rule, or an outer doctrine, or an outer leader. And this is indeed when you have to attain the deeper understanding of the Will of God that I am talking about. And that understanding could not be given in the past, which is why many students hold on to the black-and-white view of the Will of God—as something they have to follow without questioning, almost as if they were robots following a leader.

When you come to the realization that there is more to it than the black-and-white and gray thinking, you suddenly realize that you cannot take the Will of God and draw it down and create some rule that applies to all situations. This is the ego again, with its incessant dream of an automatic salvation where it says, “Give me a rule that I do not eat with unwashen hands, so that I can believe that as long as I follow that outer rule I am guaranteed to go to heaven.”

The Will of God is beyond rules

The mature spiritual seekers need to step up and realize, that when you go beyond the childhood stage, the kindergarten stage, you need to come to a deeper understanding of the Will of God. And that is when you begin to realize that you cannot confine the Will of God to any hard-and-fast rule in this world. For indeed, the Will of God is simply one expression of the Logos, of the Word of God. And as Jesus has eloquently explained, the Living Christ comes into this world to meet a person where this person is at in consciousness and then challenge the person’s illusions, challenge the person’s mental box in order to get that person to come up higher.

What is the Will of God? Well, it is that wherever YOU are at – wherever YOU are at, wherever YOU are at – you take one step higher on your path. Do you see what I am saying? The Will of God for one person right now – at that person’s particular stage of the spiritual path – is not the same as the Will of God for another person who is at a different level. You now come into the realization that you cannot have a spiritual organization, a mature spiritual organization, which sets these hard-and-fast rules, saying all members of that organization should follow these rules or they will be excommunicated and possibly sent to hell.

What we need to see in the Aquarian Age is the emergence of organizations, that do not set rules for what you should do and what you should not do. And this, of course, is a challenge, for suddenly all responsibility is placed on the individual. There was a time when we could sponsor an organization and give a certain sponsorship to each person that entered and vowed to live up to certain outer rules. This was the old way, the Piscean way. And while it has its place, it is not the ultimate goal of a spiritual organization.

For surely, as Maitreya explains in great detail in his book, you will not become the Christ by following anyone else. You will not even become the Christ by being under the sponsorship of an ascended master, for becoming the Christ means that you become spiritually self-sufficient. And now you do not need someone or something outside yourself to tell you what is the Will of God. For you can go within your heart, become one with your own God flame, and thus you will know what the specific Will of God is for you in this specific situation.

Find the Will of God within

I am the Chohan of the First Ray of God’s Will, so I represent the Will of God to the spiritual seekers on earth. And it is my job to help everyone get a greater understanding for and connection to the Will of God, and I must do so at different levels. So for those who are in kindergarten, I give them a black-and-white teaching and a set of rules. But I always look forward to those who can rise beyond that level and who are willing to take responsibility for themselves, even to the point where they realize that as long as they look at El Morya as being outside themselves, then they have not fully come into oneness with the Will of God.

For my beloved, who are you listening to right now? You are listening to an ascended Being who is speaking through a person in embodiment. And thus – clearly – the word of that ascended being is coming to you from outside your sphere of self, entering your sphere of self, which is perfectly valid. For as long as people are out of touch with the Will of God, they can only come into oneness with the Will of God by having some element from the outside that gives them a lodestone, a guideline, a leaven that can raise the whole loaf of their consciousness, the body and blood of Christ that they can multiply. But you will not manifest your Christhood by taking in only from without.

You will manifest your Christhood only when you realize that what you experienced from without is not outside yourself. For you can find the Will of God in the kingdom of God within you. As we have said throughout this conference, experiencing the Living Word from without will only have ultimate meaning when you allow that word from without to become alive in your own hearts, so that you will find the Will of God in your own hearts. And you suddenly realize that the Being that you identified as El Morya – as an ascended master speaking through an embodied messenger – is also in your heart. For where do I reside, my beloved? I reside in the kingdom of God. And where is the kingdom of God? It is within you!

So, when the outer El Morya becomes one with the inner El Morya, then you will know El Morya. And then you will know the Will of God for you. For it is unique for each one of you. And each one of you have a unique opportunity to express a specific facet of the Will of God. For contrary to what some people believe, we of the ascended masters have no desire to turn our students into robots, into blind followers. We want to raise you up to become here below all that you are Above. It is indeed the false teachers of this world who want to turn people into robots who blindly follow them and who will, so to speak, drink the cool-aide when they are told to do so.

This is the way of the ascended masters. Yet as I have said, in the past we had to give people a more simplified way that was adapted to their state of consciousness, so we had to give them rules. But I will also tell you that we have sometimes given people so many rules to box them in so tightly, that hopefully they will come to that point of saying, “I have had enough of this. I have had enough of this role of being the goodie-two-shoes who always follows all the outer rules to the letter. I can’t even move anymore. There has got to be more to the spiritual path than this.”

And that is then when people can go one of two ways. They can go into total rebellion and saying, “I will have nothing more to do with the spiritual path or any spiritual organization.” But my beloved, why do they react that way? They react that way for only one reason. Namely – as Maitreya explains in his book – they refuse to take full responsibility for themselves. Instead of taking the responsibility to connect to the Will of God within themselves, they find it easier to follow an outer teacher who promises them that he will save them if they will follow him blindly.

The second option is that instead of going from one extreme – total submission to the outer rules – to the opposite extreme – total rebellion – they can go beyond duality and find a more discerning understanding of the Will of God. Thus, realizing that the only way to know the specific Will of God for you is through the Living Word within yourself. Meaning that the restoration of the WORD is the master key to restoring the Will of God on earth.

This is the challenge you all face. Do you want to know the Will of God? Well, then stop looking for it outside yourself! For the Will of God is in the kingdom of God. And the kingdom of God is, as we have said a million times – hoping that one of these days it will click – well it is within you. For where else can it possibly be found, given what you know that everything was made from the LOGOS. And therefore, the LOGOS must be in everything—including in you.

Thus, my beloved, with gratitude for your attention, with gratitude for your willingness to grapple with the difficult questions and come to the awareness that life is not as black-and-white as you once thought, I seal you in the gratitude of my heart, my diamond heart, the diamond of the Will of God. Why is a diamond beautiful? Because it has many facets that sparkle individually, but together form a whole. You are all facets in the diamond of the Will of God—when you connect to the Will of God within yourselves. Thus I bid you adieu, in gratitude.

There will never come a time on planet earth where conditions are ideal for spiritual growth or for manifesting your Christhood. Therefore, in order to rise higher, you will have to take the conditions as they are and then transcend them.

No matter how tired you are, it is of no importance because you can rise above any situation. And truly, if you are not the doer, does it matter that the outer conditions are not ideal. My Beloved, there are those who sit around, saying, “Oh, when conditions are right, I will manifest my Christhood.” And they will never manifest their Christhood because the Christ is not here to wait for the earth to manifest the right conditions for Christhood. The Christ is here to take dominion over the earth and raise the Mother light to outpicture the perfect conditions that are held in the immaculate concept.

And that is the true meaning of taking dominion over the earth. And with men, with the human consciousness, it is impossible for you to take dominion. But with God in you, with the Christ in you, all things are possible. And therefore, you can raise the earth to outpicture the Golden Age. And it can happen so quickly that future shock will take on an entirely new meaning. And many people on earth will wake up, and they will say, “How could this happen? How could this change happen so quickly? How could society all of a sudden change? How could we avoid all these calamities that were prophesied, how could we avoid these wars, these earthquakes these earth changes. Why didn’t they come to pass?” And they will sit around wondering what happened instead of being the ones who made it happen by allowing God in them to manifest the Golden Age.

Therefore, I thank you and I thank all of those around the world who have participated in these four rosary vigils.*** Because I must tell you that when we started the Rosary to God’s Will, these almost four months ago, there was no guarantee that I would be able to stand here today and release this new invocation. There needed to be a critical mass of people who took up the four rosaries and gave them faithfully. There needed to be a critical raising of the consciousness of planet earth before we could release this next invocation.

And therefore, my heart truly overflows with gratitude for all of you around the world who have given these rosaries, even if you only gave them once, even if you were not able to give them every day, you have my full gratitude because everything you did contributed to the building of the critical mass that has brought us to where we are today. And therefore I thank you, and I want you to know that we appreciate here Above what you are being here below.  And thus I seal you in the name of Jesus Christ, Saint Germain and Mother Mary, for we are the Divine Family for the Aquarian Age. It is sealed.

You cannot follow me. The false pastors have programmed you to believe that the key to salvation is to be a follower of Jesus Christ. But I tell you truly, you cannot follow me, because, as long as you think I am outside of yourself, you cannot reach the kingdom within you. Therefore, the only path that can lead you home is the path of becoming one with me, becoming one with me while you are in embodiment. And the only path to that inner oneness is to stop denying your own Christ potential. You must reach for the Christ, the Christ Self within you and put on that wedding garment of the Christ consciousness, whereby, from deep within your being, suddenly arises that perfect love that will cast out all of your fears, all of the fears that cause you to deny your oneness with me and your oneness with God.

I did not come to earth to have people follow me. I came to earth to have all people become one with me, because I truly am willing to be one with every human being who will stop denying my presence. That is why I said, “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto the least of these my little ones, you have done it unto me.” And the inner meaning of that statement is that I am within every one who will give me room, everyone who will bid me enter their hearts.

Therefore, I am come this day to give all of those who will hear or read this dictation the opportunity, an extraordinary opportunity, to feel my Presence within you, know my Presence, bid me enter your heart and take up my abode there forever—if you will have me.

Therefore, I shall now withdraw from speaking to you through an outer vessel, and I give you the opportunity to sit quietly and commune with me from within. Therefore, I now say: the true mantra, the true calling for this next 2,000-year period is no longer, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” But it is, “Be here below, all that you are Above.” Beyond that, the affirmation “I am Jesus Christ, as Above, so below.” Or you may create your own affirmations for whichever ascended being you feel is close to your heart. Or you may say, “I am the Living Christ, as Above so below.” I therefore bid you, commune with me in your hearts.

I desire to give you a teaching that you can contemplate, so you begin to realize that I was not different from you in the sense that I did not have to walk a gradual path in order to attain my Christhood. I did indeed walk a gradual path, and a careful reading of the scriptures and a little bit of reading between the lines will demonstrate that I was not born perfect, that I was not born in the fullness of my Christhood but that I went through many initiations in order to manifest my Christhood.

This is as is has been for many of you, for many students on the spiritual path, whether they have been in this teaching or that organization. There are even many people on earth who do not belong to any spiritual or religious organization or teaching but who are nevertheless walking the path of individual Christhood, leading them back to a sense of oneness with all life, a sense of oneness with God.

So I come to give you a discourse this day for those of you who have been consciously walking the spiritual path for many years, whether it be in this or that teaching or organization. What I am talking about is those who have realized that there is a spiritual side to life and that it is possible for them to raise their consciousness. I see millions of people who have discovered the path in one form or another and who have diligently followed that path, some for several decades. They have put great effort into it, they have studied the path, they have been willing to inconvenience themselves and give rituals of various kinds.

Yet I also see that many of them have reached a plateau, have reached a certain point from where they find it difficult to progress. I even see some who have started a downward spiral without realizing what is happening to them. My Beloved hearts, when you follow the spiritual path, you will come to an essential turning point. And let me explain the two phases of the ideal growth for a spiritual seeker.

When you first discover the path, it is natural that you are motivated by a somewhat self-centered drive to raise your own consciousness, to improve your own outer situation, to find the truth, to find the highest spiritual teaching you can find and to solve various problems, from overcoming disease or addictions to finding the ideal partner. These are natural desires, yet they are not the motivation that can get you to the very top of the spiritual path, because they are geared towards raising up yourself as an individual being that you see as being separated from all life.

For some time – and for some people this might be years or even decades, and for some it will be only months – it is acceptable to walk the spiritual path based on this self-centered motivation. But there will come the essential cut-off point, where, if you continue to walk the path based on a self-centered motivation, you will no longer be walking the true spiritual path that leads you closer to God. You will actually be taking what the Bible calls “The way that seemeth right unto a man, but the ends thereof are the ways of death” (Proverbs 14:12). You will be taking what we might call the left-handed path, the path of the black magicians and those who embody the consciousness of anti-Christ.

Raising yourself or raising all life

For what is the consciousness of anti-Christ? It is the consciousness that sees the individual being as separated from God and thereby separated from all life. And suddenly, the individual being begins to think that it can elevate itself above other aspects of life, that it can elevate itself to make itself look more important, more spiritual, more powerful, more wise, even more loving than other parts of life. But this is not done in order to raise up all life but in order to raise up only that individual.

Do you see the essential teaching I am giving you here? There is a point where it is necessary and acceptable that you seek to raise up your individual being, because you must do what is necessary to heal your psychological wounds, to pull yourself away from the mass consciousness and any downward pull created by you in past lifetimes. This can be a task that requires all of your concentration, and therefore it is natural that you are focused on yourself and raising up your individual being and your individual consciousness.

But if you continue seeking to raise up only yourself, it is inevitable that you will switch from the true path to the false path. And I must tell you in all honesty that there are many people in the world who call themselves true spiritual seekers, true Christians, true Buddhists, true Muslims, true Hindus or even true students of the ascended masters, yet they are still following the path based on the desire to raise up their individual beings. And they have not even begun to understand the need to broaden their sense of identity, so they see themselves as one with all life.

Therefore, when you look at any spiritual organization on this planet, you can see those who have been in the organization, sometimes for decades, who have faithfully met all of the outer requirements stated by that organization. Yet they have done it for one reason only: to raise up themselves in comparison to other people, so that they can create and maintain and reinforce the illusion that they are more advanced, more spiritual, more wise, more loving, more giving than other people in that organization or other people in the world.

Some of these people may actually appear to be humble because they have learned to play the game. Some of them, in fact all of them, believe that they are humble, that they are spiritual, that they are loving. Yet my beloved, they are the lawyers that I denounced 2,000 years ago.

The lawyers seek to prevent others from growing

You might recall that I talked about the key of knowledge (Luke 11:52) and that the lawyers had not been willing to enter in, and that they were seeking to stop others from entering in. Well, the key of knowledge is the realization that the true goal of the spiritual path – and the only key to salvation – is to come into oneness with God and oneness with all life. Oneness with God as the God Above and oneness with all life as the God in manifestation here below.

The lawyers have not understood or have not been willing to recognize the key of knowledge, so they have not been willing to enter into oneness. And therefore, they are using their spiritual teaching to raise up themselves in comparison to others. And in so doing they are, in subtle and often unrecognized ways, seeking to prevent other people from entering into oneness. Because they do not want other people to exceed their own level of spiritual growth, for if that were to happen, then they could no longer maintain their illusion that they were more spiritual, more advanced than others.

So you see, my beloved, when you walk the spiritual path from a self-centered perspective, there will come a point where you cannot grow further. Your growth will come to a halt. Most people do not recognize this with their outer minds, but at deeper levels of their being they know they are stuck, they are not growing. Yet they do not realize that the reason they are not growing is that they have not let go of the illusion of separateness, of trying to raise themselves up above others.

So because they are not willing to let go of this illusion, they are attached to the feeling that they are more advanced than others. So you see, the mechanism that comes into play here when the person subconsciously knows that it cannot grow beyond its present level, and when that person is attached to feeling better than others, then the only way to maintain the illusion of being better than others is to prevent others from growing!

Because if others were to continue on the true path of growth, they would quickly exceed the lawyers who have stopped their own growth. Do you see this mechanism? You need to learn to recognize this mechanism. It is good if you can see it in others because truly there are some who have taken this to the extreme, and you will see them in every spiritual organization, where they go around with an aura of superiority, even if it be subtle. So it is good if you can recognize it in those who are so extreme that it is obvious.

But I tell you, you must also learn to recognize it in yourself because this very tendency, that I am talking about, is the essence of the ego. And the ego of every human being is caught in this trap of not wanting to grow, not wanting to elevate all life and therefore wanting to hold back others. And my beloved, when you seek to hold back others, you truly hold back yourself as well. It is inevitable.

As I have stated before, the real message behind my saying to “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” is that whatever you do to others, you are inevitably doing to yourself at a deeper level of your being. So if you seek to hold back others from growing and coming into oneness with God, it is because you have allowed your ego to stop your own growth at a certain level. It is most important that you uncover the subtle ways in which the ego is trying to stop your growth or trying to stop the growth of others. For if you do not, you will become stuck on the left-handed path.

The mystical path and the path to Christhood are very much part of the same process. However, many people follow the mystical or spiritual path with a more generalized sense of growing spiritually and raising their state of consciousness. 

When you know that you are following the path of Christhood, you have it as a clear goal to attain the Christ consciousness. You see Jesus as your personal master, and you are deliberately seeking to attain inner attunement with him.

Another difference is that while you follow a more general path, you are often motivated by a desire to raise up yourself, perhaps even acquiring special abilities. The path to Christhood is not just focused on your own growth. You are beginning to sense the oneness of all life, and thus you seek to raise yourself so that you can be an instrument for helping others and raising the whole.

When students become unbalanced

• There is a risk that spiritual students become unbalanced.
• Many go into the blind alley of taking an unbalanced approach to what they see as their work for God.
• A certain percentage of students become almost over-anxious in creating world change.
• They are so “fired up” about this that they lose all perspective and all balance.
• The Buddhic perspective on what it means to be the Christ in action.
• As the Living Christ in action, you expose yourself to people’s ridicule and condemnation.
• It is very easy to become attached to a particular result of your actions, to getting a particular reaction from other people.

• Let go of the sense that your Christhood depends on other people or institutions in society.
• Individual Christhood depends on nothing outside the individual.
• Do not let your ego pull you into a false “Christhood,” an imitation of Christhood, and a savior complex.

My Beloved hearts, God has no greater desire than to see every human being come back into the River of Life. God has no desire for you to feel like a sinner, to blame yourself, to hold yourself back in fear, thinking you are not worthy. All of these feelings, the feeling that you are not worthy to be in the River of Life, these feelings truly spring from pride.

That may surprise you, because when you feel really bad about yourself, you don’t feel prideful at all. But you see, at a deeper level, your outer mind is saying, “My soul is not worthy.” Yet your lifestream was created by God, and that means you are saying that God must have created something that is not worthy. And if you hold on to that belief, you are saying that you know better than God what God created. In reality, God created a perfect lifestream because God created you in his image and likeness. And therefore, those who put you down, those who put themselves down, those who claim that you are nothing but mortal sinners, they are the prideful spirits, the prideful beings, the false prophets about whom Jesus spoke. And truly, if the blind lead the blind, they shall both end up in the ditch.

What makes you spiritually blind is pride. So go not after the prideful preachers of the world, those who tell you that you are no good, that you are not a spiritual being, that you need something from outside yourself in order to be saved. Do not buy their wares. Center in your heart, reach for the love of Christ, reach for the love of the Mother of God, the love that is so tender that few people can bear it. And yet, I so long to share it with all.

Your potential to follow the example set by Jesus

Your potential is that you can expand your consciousness, until you attain the same Christ consciousness that my beloved Jesus demonstrated 2,000 years ago. But you cannot do this in a mechanical way by following an outer ritual. You must do it by going within, by transforming your consciousness. In the beginning, this will be uncomfortable, and you have heard the saying, “No pain, no gain.”

Truly, I do not desire to see any of you experience pain, but I must tell you that there is a truth here, in the sense that most people on this earth have become comfortable in their state of suffering. They have become so used to the pain, which they experience daily, that they are numb to it. Before you can grow out of that pain, out of that state of consciousness, you must be willing to come out of your comfort zone.

You must be willing to look at some of your beliefs and realize that they are not the highest possible, that there is more to know, that there is more to understand. And that is why you see so many people who go through life being busy with the things of this world, not paying any attention to their own spiritual growth or to the spiritual side of life. And then they experience a major crisis, be it a health crisis, an accident, the death of a family member or the loss of a job. And all of a sudden, their new pain is so much more intense than the old pain with which they had become familiar, that they now wake up and say, “There must be a better way. There must be a way out.” And then they turn to the spiritual path.

My Beloved hearts, I have seen people do this millions of times. And although I welcome anyone who becomes spiritually awakened, I would so love to see people wake up before they hit the wall, before they experience a crisis. I would so love to see people wake up because they connect to the love in their hearts, and they just know from within that there is more to life, there is something higher.

To do that, the Conscious You must be willing to surrender itself to the masculine polarity of itself—the spiritual self. It must be willing to listen to the messenger sent by God, sent from Above, the messenger who comes into your life and says, “There is more. You don’t have to be stuck here. You can grow and go beyond this.”

Mother Mary’s life

This is really the story of my life. I wish I could give you a sense of what I felt when I was sitting there in the monastery, in solitude after my morning prayers, and I thought it was going to be just another day. And suddenly, there was a rushing like a mighty wind, and there was a bright light shining in the room. And there was the angel of God, standing in my room. My soul literally went into shock; his light was so bright, his vibration so intense that nothing on this earth compares.

If you will listen to my voice, I am giving you now the sense of the intensity of the Light of an archangel, at the level that I think you can bear, the level that will show you that there is more to life, there is something beyond, there is a higher state of consciousness, without burning you with the fire that is too hard for human beings to bear. Yet you can grow to the point, where you can bear that fire, where you can stand in the fire of God and like the bush that burned before Moses, you are burning with the spiritual fire, but you are not consumed.

You have allowed the fire of God to burn away your fears, your misqualified energy. You have invoked that fire from above to burn away the misqualified energy you have created over hundreds, and in many cases thousands, of lifetimes. And this fire is so intense that it can burn away the misqualified energy, created over thousands of lifetimes, in just one lifetime—if you truly apply yourself.

Many of you, who are the spiritual people today, should realize that you are the spiritual people because you know you are ready to take that step. You are ready to step out of that limited sense of identity as a mortal human being. You are ready to come up higher and you are ready to say, “Yes, Jesus is my older brother. He is not an idol, put up there on a pedestal. I will stop dancing around this golden calf presented by orthodox Christianity by turning Jesus into this superhuman that no one can reach. I will accept him as my older brother. I will follow his example, and I WILL come up higher. I will follow the example of Mother Mary, and I will ask that the Angel of the Lord, in the form of my own Christ self, will appear to me and show me the next step, show me the illusions I need to leave behind, so that I can fulfill the plan that my conscious self made before I came into this lifetime.”

Your divine plan

The greatest problem on planet earth today, the only problem on planet earth today, is that so many human beings have forgotten who they are and why they are here. And this is understandable, because the energies in this realm are so dense, so heavy, that it can easily overpower you, and you lose your memory of why you came. Yet those of you who have started the spiritual path, who are awakened, should realize that there are no limitations of how far you can go on this path, except the limitations that you accept with your outer minds.

Thus, when the Angel of the Lord appears to you and says, “You can let the Christ be born in you,” it is because the angel knows you are ready, as the angel knew I was ready to give birth to the physical Christ child. My devotion had caused my energy field to be filled with love, to be filled with grace. And you too can purify your temple, until you are ready for the Christ child, the spiritual Christ child, to be born in your heart. And thereby you become the Christed being that you truly are, that you already are in heaven. This is the being that is covered over by a mortal sense of identity, built from the illusions of this world.

Ascended Master Mother Mary, February 13, 2014 through Kim Michaels.

What has happened in these last ten years or so is that the internet has been completely flooded with all kinds and types of spirituality—all kinds of channelers, gurus, and would-be messengers who parade their wares before the public. We, of course, do in no way discourage freedom of speech, freedom of expression. We are simply pointing out that it is a deliberate strategy of the false hierarchy on this planet to flood the internet with spiritual teachings, many of which are either based on black-and-white thinking or grey thinking.

There are, of course, a variety of them out there that are, like the fundamentalist Christians, based on black-and white-thinking. They are often the doomsday prophets or the conspiracy theorists that say that there is this doom and gloom hanging over humankind, this sword of Damocles ready to drop upon you and wipe out the world or at least unleash calamities of every kind. If you look at what is out there of these false prophets, you will quickly go into a state of having to numb yourself, for you cannot emotionally deal with this.

What do many people do? They go into the opposite extreme, the opposite polarity of grey thinking, which is what I call “feel-good spirituality.” Everything is good, everything is wonderful, and the earth is in this upward spiral and shifting into the 5th dimension because there is this benevolent force – whether it is called ascended masters or space brothers or whatever you have – and these cosmic beings are releasing these wonderful energies that are automatically sweeping the earth into a new dimension or golden age.

All you have to do as a spiritual person is go about your business and be kind and positive to everybody. You do not need to study any difficult topics, you do not need to be diligent in practicing particular techniques because everything is wonderful if you just relax and flow with this wonderful love. My beloved, this form of spirituality, “feel-good spirituality,” is somewhat of a delay factor to the plans of the ascended masters. You may look at it and say: “Well, what can be harmful about it? These people are being positive.” They are seeking to create positive vibrations, and have we not given you the teachings about energy, namely that you need to invoke positive energy in order to counteract the accumulated negative energy produced by humankind.

Here is the subtle distinction. It would be easy to go into a black-and-white mindset and say that this form of spirituality is all false and has no positive impact whatsoever because it is coming from the false hierarchy, or it is based on illusions. The reality is, of course, that things are never black and white. There are many people in this new spiritual movement who are having a positive impact on planet earth. If you keep yourself in a kind, positive, and loving state of mind, you will have a positive impact, as opposed to people who are in a negative, fear-based, or anger-based state of mind.

Therefore, I am not saying that the people who are engaged in this feel-good spirituality are not having a positive influence on the planet. Some will therefore say: “Well, if that is the case, just leave us alone then and let us feel the way we want to feel.” Certainly, given free will, I will leave alone all those who are not open to my message. Yet, I do want to state in the physical that feel-good spirituality is delaying the progress of this planet even though it is having a positive impact on this planet. You see my beloved, if you are dragging your car by a rope, the car is still moving forwards but not nearly as quickly as if you got into the car, turned on the engine, put it in gear, and stepped on the accelerator. Your car is moving forward if you are dragging it, but certainly not with the speed that is its true potential. So it is with this broad, New Age, feel-good movement.

Ascended Master Maitreya, January 8, 2011 through Kim Michaels.

Why is it so difficult for people in embodiment to understand the essence of the spiritual path? Why is it that there are people who have studied ascended master teachings for two or three or four decades, and yet they have not understood the essence of the path?

Well, this is a complex topic, so I recognize that it is not possible in one release to give a thorough discourse on the many subtle aspects of the state of consciousness that keeps people trapped on the false path. Jesus recently gave an absolutely ground-breaking discourse, but even he recognizes that this, of course, was not a complete examination of the factors that make it so difficult for people to see exactly what the path is about.

Nevertheless, for this particular release, I shall take the approach of a practical realist and mention just a few—just enough to get you started on questioning your view of the path of initiation. I have already spoken about this through my feminine messenger, but let me give you the same explanation from the masculine perspective. The view of initiation that most people have, when they find an ascended master teaching, is actually a view that is based on the false path created by the fallen beings and the false teachers. It is the view that is based on the idea that you are exposed to something that you clearly know is a test or an initiation.

It is also based on the idea that you clearly know and understand what the test is about, namely that you live up to a predefined standard and produce a certain result. Which will then be evaluated, either based on the clearly dualistic standard of whether your answer was right or wrong, or another standard where you will be graded according to, for example, the kind of grades that you get in school—that are clearly divided into several levels, where some levels are lower than others. And therefore, it requires a grade above a certain level to pass the exam and get your diploma.

This is, of course, clearly what Master MORE spoke about, namely the mechanical consciousness. If you know enough to fulfill the requirements, you will pass the initiation with flying colors by giving the right answers. And if you follow the process outlined, for example, in the educational system – or in secret organizations, such as the Freemasons – well then you will advance up through the grades, until you reach an ultimate level of initiation. And then you get a diploma.

This is what you see in virtually all universities around the world. If you are a good student, according to the criteria defined by this particular institution, or even by a country as a whole, then you will automatically get a diploma. It is assumed that if you can pass the initiations in the schoolroom, then you will be suited for doing the task that your diploma authorizes you to do, such as being a doctor or a psychologist.

Yet what does it take to be a good doctor or a good psychologist? Does it take only intellectual learning, only book learning? Is being able to memorize and recite certain theories and facts a sign that you will be good at dealing with human beings in life-and-death situations? Nay, it is not, as just about any doctor or psychologist could tell you, if they were willing to have the honesty of practical realism about themselves and their profession.

So what is this entire path of initiation based upon? Ahh, when you take a closer look, you see that it is based on being able to hide something. You can follow the educational system of most countries – or even follow initiatic systems such as the Freemasons or other esoteric organizations – and by passing the predefined requirements, you can reach the top level and get a diploma or degree—while still hiding your basic personality, your basic state of consciousness. Are you a truly sincere and kind and honest person, or are you at completely self-centered egomaniac, who only seeks the outer position because of the prestige or the money that it supposedly gives you.

You know, of course, that there are doctors who seek prestige, and you know that there are people who have become doctors because doctors make a lot of money. You know the same holds true in most other professions. And so, you see that deceit is a fundamental element of this false path of initiation.

On the true path you cannot hide

What, then, is the true path of initiation that I offered in Maitreya’s mystery school, and that I still today offer in Maitreya’s mystery school? It is the path, as Jesus explained in his discourse, where you cannot hide your true state of consciousness, your true inner being, for the teacher. You cannot fool me, for I will see through anything and and everything in your psychology that you are seeking to hide.

As I have just said, the Serpent will also see through what it is in your psychology that you are seeking to hide. The difference is that whereas I will see what you are seeking to hide, expose it to you in a very realistic way and then offer you a very practical way to transcend it, well instead of this approach, the Serpent will see through what you are seeking to hide and will offer you the perfect justification for continuing to hide it—if only you will submit to certain other things that the Serpent wants you to do.

And precisely because you are attached to hiding what you thought no one could see, including the Serpent, it will seem to you as a low price to pay to submit to the Serpent’s recommendations or conditions, in order to be able to feel that you can continue to hide while in the end still being allowed into the kingdom of heaven. For this, of course, is what the Serpent promises.

You do know that if you are not willing to go to Maitreya, or any other true teacher, and let the teacher expose your psychology, well then you cannot enter into the mystery school, and you cannot enter into the spiritual realm that the mystery school is set up to give you access to. So if you thought that there was no other way to get into heaven than through the mystery school, then you would know that if you were not willing to submit to the requirements of the true teacher, you had no way of getting in. So naturally, the Serpent must promise you that there is another way to get into the kingdom of heaven than following the true teacher and his strict requirements.

For the Serpent has discovered a shortcut, an alternative route that can get you into heaven—if only you live up to these outer requirements that the Serpent will show to you and will help you fulfill while still being able to hide your basic psychology. Oh, how tempting this is for those who have not been willing to take responsibility for their own state of mind.

How difficult, my beloved, is it to see the lie here? What have we been telling you in the dictations we have released, beginning with Gautama Buddha? We have been telling you that the one and only key to entry into the ascended realm is your state of consciousness, and that you are the only one who can change your state of consciousness. Yet when you decide that you are not willing to take full responsibility for changing your state of consciousness, then you become susceptible to the serpentine lie.

Of course, in order to fully come to believe in this lie, there are just a few conditions you have to accept. These are very subtle conditions, and might seem very unimportant to you—at least when you are in the frame of mind or wanting to hide something. And so, deceived by your own desire to hide, you accept a teacher who will hide something from you—instead of the true teacher who hides nothing from you, and therefore allows you to hide nothing from the teacher or from yourself. The false teachers also will not allow you to hide anything from them, as they are quite skilled at seeing through your psychology. But they will allow you to believe that you can hide something, not only from them but also from God, or at least from the beings who judge whether you will be allowed into heaven.

For the Serpents will tell you that the beings who judge whether you should be allowed into heaven will not look at the things you are seeking to hide. They will only look at how you fulfill the outer requirements, defined by the Serpents. How difficult, my beloved, is it to see the deception here?

The reality is that getting into the ascended state is not a matter of fulfilling any outer requirements. It is a matter of changing your state of consciousness. Changing your state of consciousness cannot be achieved by doing or not doing certain things in the matter realm. It can be achieved only by you looking into your own consciousness. There is no other way.

Well, as Jesus, as the Great Divine Director, as Astrea and Serapis Bey have recently explained in great detail, they do this because they are not willing to take responsibility for themselves. And what does it mean to take responsibility for yourself? Well, it means, quite simply, that you are willing to recognize and consciously acknowledge the one truth, that is the foundation for your progress on the spiritual path, for your entering into the ascending spiral. This is the one truth, that makes it possible for the ascended masters to work with you on a personal basis. Instead of you staying in the school of hard knocks or in the school of outer teachings and outer organizations and outer gurus, where you may find a true guru or you may not, but in any case you will be attracted to the kind of guru or teaching, that resonates with your current level of consciousness.

For you see, when you have not taken responsibility for yourself, you are not willing to question your current level of consciousness, your current perception. And thus, how can you attract a guru who is beyond that level of consciousness? It simply cannot be done. This is one of those self-evident truths, that should be self evident but is not self-evident to those who have not taken responsibility and therefore look at everything with polluted perception.

So what then is that one inescapable realization, that you must come to before you can be a personal student of the ascended masters? Well, it is precisely that everything in the world of form is an expression of consciousness, a creation of consciousness. There is nothing – I say again, there is nothing – in the world of form, be it in the spiritual realm or in the material universe, that has any independent or objective existence. Nothing ever came into being without being brought into being by a self-aware co-creator, who first envisioned a mental image and then used his or her co-creative abilities to superimpose that image upon the Mater light, which then took on the form of the image.

There is no other way to create. The Creator itself creates this way, and so do all co-creators throughout the ages—in this sphere, in previous spheres, going all the way back to the first act of creation. There is no other way to create. And thus, the beginning of the spiritual path is when one comes to the point, where one is willing to question the perception, that what you perceive in the material universe is real—has an independent existence, meaning that it exists independently of consciousness. And thus, it is permanent or unchangeable, or will only change very slowly due to some process beyond your control; be that God or the angels in heaven or the laws of nature or the process of evolution or whatever myth that people have come up with, in order to explain what they see around them. Where they see, that there is both an appearance of permanence but also an obvious appearance of change.

And yet, in their unwillingness to take responsibility for themselves, they must project that things have permanence, have independent existence. And thus, they must also project, that the change that they cannot deny comes about by some process outside themselves over which they have no control. Yet is there actually anything in your world – in your personal world – over which you have absolutely no control? Well, yes there is—at your current level of consciousness. But if you are willing to transcend your current level of consciousness, to transcend your current perception, to transcend your current mental box; then there is absolutely nothing in your world, that you cannot accelerate to a higher level by being willing to accelerate your own consciousness.

For you may look at the world around you, you may look at your personal circumstances, and you may see that right now there are many factors in your life that you seem to have no power to influence or change, because they are dependent upon natural laws that you seemingly cannot change. Or they are dependent upon other people and their free-will choices. But you see, you still have power to change something. You have power to change your own reaction to those external circumstances and to the behavior of other people.

The beginning of the spiritual path

And when you start where you are by saying: “How can I accelerate my reaction, so that I am not forced into a negative reaction by certain circumstances or by certain actions or words of other people? How can I accelerate beyond my old patterns of reaction? How can I get out of the reactive mode of consciousness?” When you begin to ask those questions, that is when you can start the spiritual path.

In the beginning, it may seem like you are only changing your reaction to outer circumstances or other people, but I can assure you that we of the ascended masters – we who have gone through the process of starting in a very dualistic state of consciousness and accelerating ourselves into the Ascension Spiral – we have proven, proven over and over again, that when you do accelerate your reaction, you will come to a point, where you will no longer encounter certain circumstances or certain types of people. And my beloved, is this really so difficult to understand, when you have the many teachings, that we have given on the fact that the universe is a mirror, that reflects back to you what you are sending out?

If you are sending out that you are always being accused unjustly, what will the universe reason, based on the mental image that you hold in your mind? Well, it will reason, that you want to experience a situation where others accuse you. And so, it will comply and send you such people. And thus, you can go into the age-old spiral of seeking to defend yourself against their accusations, or seeking to deny them or seeking to justify yourself or even seeking to change their minds—but you are still reacting.

And do you see, that what you are reacting to is not an external circumstance that exists independently of your own state of consciousness? You are reacting to the reaction from the cosmic mirror to the images you are sending out. You know about the law of cause and effect, which has also been called the law of action and reaction. So you know that reaction comes after action. And yet, when you have not taken responsibility for yourself, you do not see, that the chain of events started with an action on your part, namely the mental images, that you allow to exist in your identity body. And which you then project into the cosmic mirror—and so what comes back to you is the reaction from your own action.

When you do not recognize this, you look only at what is happening outside yourself, and now you think, that other people’s treatment of you is their action. And now you think that their action forces you to react in some way, often that it forces you to react in a particular way, whatever your personal momentum might be, such as defending yourself or accusing others back. And you think that because you cannot change their action, you have no way to transcend the situation. But do you see, that the reason why you feel powerless to change the situation is, that you have confused action and reaction? You think that your reaction is to their action, but the reality here – the reality that is the difference between those who are true students of the ascended masters and those who are not, even though they may claim to be or be firmly convinced that they are – is in fact the one realization, that when you take full responsibility for yourself, you are NEVER reacting to anything!

When you take full responsibility for your state of mind, you see that God has given you free will. And no matter what happens to you on earth, you have the freedom to choose what goes on inside your mind—regardless of what is going on outside of your mind and physical body. And thus, when you take responsibility for yourself, you realize that you have absolutely no need to react to anything. There is no natural law, that forces you to react to the circumstances you encounter in the material universe. For you have the potential to accelerate into a higher state of consciousness, where you are not reacting—you are acting. Because no matter what happens on the outer, you choose your own state of consciousness. And you choose your actions based on your own state of consciousness, NOT based on the consciousness of other people. And that is why you will never be limited by the state of consciousness and the free-will choices of other people, for YOU, in any situation you encounter – regardless of the choices made by others – you are free to choose your own action, your own state of consciousness.

Ascended Master Saint Germain, October 29, 2009 through Kim Michaels.

Do you hear this bell* in the background; do you hear it? Do you see the structure they have built up there, the monument they have built on this mountain, that they have decided was the Mount of Transfiguration, even though I can tell you that it was not? Do you see, that if you go into that Church, that monastery, you will find people there who, most of them, are satisfied with the outer teachings of Christ? And what does that mean? It means there is not room in their hearts for an encounter with the Living Christ.

Fearing an encounter with the Living master

They are afraid of the Living master, who would appear to them and speak to them in their hearts—if they only would give him room to enter, if there was only room within for the living Christ to be born. But they are afraid of it, because somewhere in their beings they know, that if they encountered the Living Christ, they would have to make the choice between life and death. They would have to make the choice to take responsibility for themselves instead of continuing in the drama.

For you go and see so many of these mainstream Christians today, and you will see, that they have defined a drama, where they only need to keep playing their part, and then they think they will be rewarded in the end by Jesus appearing—somehow taking away their sins. And that is the only requirement for them entering heaven: to have their sins taken away by Christ and to live a “good” Christian life, defined according to some outer earthly standard.

You who claim to be students of the ascended masters, you should know better. You should realize the difference between wanting only an outer teaching or wanting an encounter with a living master. You are free to do whatever you want. I have no intention whatsoever of forcing you. I only offer you my living Presence as the master of Aquarius. If you think that any teaching can capture and hold my living Presence, then I say: “May you live happily in your drama.” And then, when you are ready to give it up, I will still be here for you. For I cannot reach you, if you are focused on the outer teaching, and if you take any teaching given by Saint Germain, given under that name, and turn it into a mental box.

Because then you have no chance whatsoever of encountering my living Presence, that I offer to you 24 hours a day. For I too am with you always. We who are the ascended masters are with you always. Which does not mean, that we will be with you for an eternity. For some day your time will run out—whereas my time will never run out, for I am beyond time, for I have transcended my dramas. But it does mean, that while you are in embodiment, we are there at any moment at any time. You do not need to wait for this cosmic event. You simply need to decide, that this is the time where I want a more direct encounter with the ascended masters than what I can get through an outer teaching.

This messenger is a messenger because he decided that—he looked to us and said, “I want more. I want a more direct encounter with you.” And you know that the answer was instantaneous—if he was willing to serve in a greater capacity. And because he was willing, he got that encounter with Jesus. This was not for his own growth or for his own glorification. This was not for the raising up of that separate self to have some special status. For if you come to us from that perspective – of wanting an encounter with the ascended masters, so that your separate self can feel special – well, then you will still be wandering in the desert for forty years or more, without entering the promised land.

Be willing to move in order to serve

Instead, come to us with that openness of the heart, where you are willing to serve, to give something to others. Then you will feel our presence there, as we direct you to how you can serve. But be aware, that this might mean dramatic changes in your life. For there are so many times, where you cannot serve to your full capacity in the circumstances you are in right now. Has this not been demonstrated by all of us in our earthly lives, such as Master MORE talked about in his incarnation as Abraham, where he had to leave his land – leave the circumstances where he was comfortable and felt in control – and move around, not feeling quite in control, but feeling nevertheless the Presence of that inner guidance with him.

This is indeed what we look for in our students: those who are willing to walk into the unknown, to take one step at a time. Those are true students, following the inner path, not some outer direction. For do you not understand, as Maitreya has explained, that there is a time where you can follow the guru, the external guru, but there is a time, where you must go within and follow the internal guru only. [A Church bell rings in the background]

Ah, my beloved, for whom do the bells toll? Well, the bells you hear are outer expressions, but there is a symbol in the bell. For I tell you, that for each of you, your I AM Presence is sounding a bell, calling you to come up higher. Not to go into some outer Church and worship some external image of Christ, but to go within the Church of the heart – to go within your closet, as Jesus said – and there find the living Presence of the Christ in whatever form it is for you, whatever master is close to your heart. Is it me, is it Jesus, Mother Mary, Master MORE or any of the masters? Find that master, cling to that master, open your mind and heart to the living Presence of that master, and then be willing to be led wherever it takes you, even if it makes no sense for your outer mind.

Be willing to make those seismic shifts in your life, that will put you on the path of your service. Not the path TO your service, for be careful to realize, that this dream of some goal, of some ultimate service, is just another drama. The reality is, that your service is a process, an ongoing process, that will continue for this lifetime and possibly in other lifetimes or continuing in the ascended realm, when you have no more need or desire to embody. Life is a process. There is no ultimate result, for even when you attain the consciousness of the Creator level, you immediately start creating—and thus the process continues.
