What really happened in the Garden of Eden?

Let us now use these insights to take a fresh look at the Garden of Eden story. This story is one of the pivotal myths in world culture and it is a fruitful source of understanding, especially when it comes to the relationship between people and their spiritual teachers. Obviously, one can unlock this understanding only by looking beyond a literal interpretation. If one does not, one can never resolve the obvious contradictions or answer the questions raised by the story.

First of all, one needs to realize that what the Bible calls God is not God in the ultimate sense, but a spiritual teacher that represented God to the students in the schoolroom that was called Eden. The Creator is beyond all form and thus would not interact with human beings in a form they could see. The Creator leaves this to the beings who hold the appropriate position in the cosmic hierarchy. The word “God” was used differently in Old Testament times, often used to refer to any spiritual being. As I have mentioned before, I, Maitreya, was the teacher of Adam and Eve, which I think makes me more qualified than any human being or institution to explain what truly happened in the Garden.

Secondly, one needs to realize that there were many students in Eden. The story focuses on Adam and Eve for the sake of simplicity, and thus Adam and Eve are symbols, archetypes if you will, for what happened to many of the students in Eden. Let us now look at one of the pivotal passages in the story:

16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. (Genesis, Chapter 2)

The first question we will consider is why the spiritual teacher even had to tell the students not to eat of the fruit? Why was there a forbidden fruit in the Garden, why didn’t God create the Garden without this temptation? We can now resolve this question by reaching back to our discussion of free will. If students did not have the option to go against the laws of God, they would not have the fullness of free will. Thus, the temptation to deliberately go against God’s laws is a companion of free will.

We can now see that the “fruit of the knowledge of good and evil” is a symbol for a state of consciousness, namely the frame of mind that makes it possible for a student to go against the laws of God out of willful ignorance. As we have seen, violating the laws of God is not possible from the Christ mind, for when you perceive the reality of God, you know that violating God’s laws will hurt yourself and your greater self (all life). And you would never consciously choose to hurt yourself or your Self.

It now becomes clear that violating God’s laws is only possible when you are in a frame of mind in which you do not truly know what you are doing and how it will affect you. You might have come to believe that it will not truly hurt yourself, that it will not have negative consequences or that you can somehow escape those consequences. You might be violating God’s laws without truly seeing that you are doing so, or you might be violating them deliberately but still without the full realization of how it hurts yourself.

Violating God’s laws is only possible when you suffer from an illusion so that you do not see the reality of the Christ mind. You have neutralized your connection to the reality of God and the clear vision of that reality, which is a product of the Christ mind. How can perception of reality be neutralized and replaced by an illusion? It can be done only by entering a state of consciousness that has a more limited perspective on the world than the Christ consciousness. Therefore, you do not see reality but a mental image of reality, an image that is either limited or distorted. In other words, in the Christ mind there is no room for illusions, lies, doubt or interpretation, for there is no gray zone. So you can hurt yourself only by entering into a frame of mind in which there is room for illusion and doubt, meaning that there is a gray zone in which things are not clear. There is room to create a mental image of reality instead of the direct perception of God’s reality found in the Christ mind. There seems to be a distance between you and reality because you are separated from reality—in your mind.

The frame of mind that separates you from reality is, of course, the mind of anti-christ. This frame of mind cannot see reality but sees only a mental image of “reality.” Good and evil have become relative terms and are defined in relation to each other rather than in relation to God’s absolute reality. When “truth” is relative, it becomes possible to define it in such a way that although you know you are violating God’s laws, your perspective makes it seem like this is acceptable, justified, beneficial or perhaps even your only option.

Excerpts from Key 13

Why was the Serpent in the Garden of Eden?

Regardless of where you have come from and how you ended up in a physical body on planet Earth, your only way to enlightenment is to follow the Path of Oneness, whereby you overcome the separate identity and come into oneness with the Chain of Being that leads from you to the Creator. And – as I have explained in the preceding chapters – the only way to overcome the catch-22 of your separate identity is to connect to a teacher who is not inside your identity box and can thus lead you out of it. Only by interacting with a being who is not blinded by your dualistic illusions can you overcome those illusions.

For some this will seem obvious, whereas others will sense a negative reaction in some parts of their being. Some of the beings who currently embody on Earth have a predisposition to reject the Path of Oneness, especially the idea that they need to follow a teacher and come into oneness with him or her. They are, so to speak, programmed against this process, but in reality it is their egos that are programmed. Thus, the only way to overcome this programming is to understand how the egos of these beings were created and why the very illusion that caused these beings to fall also prevents them from overcoming the fall and joining the Path of Oneness. In fact, the consciousness of these fallen beings has affected every aspect of life on Earth, so it is important for everyone to understand how and why spiritual beings can fall from their original state and end up on planet Earth. This is the topic we will explore next, and we will start by looking at the Serpent in the Garden of Eden.

***
As we have discussed, there are four levels of the material universe, corresponding to four levels of vibrations, four levels of density. But why are there four levels, why not simply one? Well, when the first sphere in the world of form was created, it did have only one spectrum of vibrations. It was created at a certain level, and it was then raised in vibration from there. This also holds true for several of the other higher levels.

I have explained that the purpose of creating a sphere that is set apart from the void is to give self-transcending beings the opportunity to start out as separate beings. This is attained by creating a sphere where the intensity of light is so low that it allows for the illusion of separation to exist. The beings in the sphere are meant to grow in awareness until they see themselves as one with their Creator and one with all life. In the process of raising their own consciousness, they also bring more light into their sphere and raise its vibration, until it ascends and becomes part of the spiritual realm.

Yet as the process of creating new spheres progressed, there came a point when not all of the beings in a sphere were ready to ascend when the sphere itself ascended. Thus, the question arose of what to do with the beings who were not willing to raise their consciousness? The obvious answer was to allow them to descend to the newly created sphere, the next sphere set apart from the void. In such a new sphere, there would still be enough darkness left, there would still be such a low intensity of light, that the beings with a lower level of consciousness could continue an existence there. They could maintain the illusion that they were separate beings, which was no longer possible in their old sphere. Thereby, such beings could receive additional opportunities to get back to the path of becoming MORE and rejoin the River of Life.

When a new sphere is created, it is the original model to create it at a certain level of vibration, a certain level of density. My point being, that according to this model there would have been only one level of vibration in the sphere in which you live. Yet there were several groups of beings in the sphere above yours – some of whom had come from even higher spheres – who were not willing to rise above their old state of consciousness and ascend with their sphere. Thus, it became necessary to design the new sphere so that it could provide a place for these beings, a place that was adapted to their level of consciousness. In other words, the density of the new sphere was adapted to the density of the consciousness of these groups of beings. That is why this sphere was designed with four different levels, ranging from not very dense (the identity realm) to very dense (the physical realm).

This now adds a complexity to the purpose of this sphere. In the higher spiritual realms, there was a very clear and simple purpose. Self-conscious beings could basically focus on their own growth and walk the Path of MORE until they were ready to ascend to a higher level. It was not their concern how other beings grew, as those who did not grow would simply be left behind when the sphere ascended. Yet by the time your sphere was created, there were so many of these “left behind” beings that a shift in purpose occurred. Instead of simply designing a sphere in which beings were meant to focus on their own growth, this sphere was – from the very beginning – designed to serve a dual purpose. One was to give new co-creators an opportunity to start out as separate beings and grow in awareness. The other was to attempt to awaken those who had been left behind when previous spheres ascended.

We now see that there are (at least) three distinct reasons why a specific being might be in the material universe:

  • A being might have fallen into this realm because it was not willing to self-transcend when the sphere that is now the lowest spiritual realm ascended. Such a being might actually have originated in a higher sphere and have fallen through several levels.
  • A being might be a new co-creator who was created to descend to the material realm and grow from there.
  • A being might have voluntarily descended from a higher realm in order to either help the fallen beings or the new co-creators grow in awareness. These are beings who had already become spiritually self-sufficient in a higher realm. Yet instead of continuing their personal growth, they volunteered to help those below them grow. This is a concept that in Eastern religion is known as the Boddhisatva ideal.

We now see that the most general explanation for the origin of the Serpent is that “Serpent” refers to a group of beings who fell in a higher realm and thus descended to this latest sphere. It now becomes clear that the Garden of Eden was not as neat and tidy of a place, not as much of a paradise, as most people have been brought up to believe. In reality, it was a mixed environment, and this obviously raises some questions that we will look at next.

***
We can now tackle the quintessential question about the Garden of Eden story, namely why God allowed the Serpent to be in the Garden. We can see that the Garden was created for more than one purpose, and one of these purposes was to give another opportunity to a group of beings that had fallen from a higher realm. The Bible only describes one such being, but in reality there were many of them. In other words, there were a number of beings in the Garden who fell as a result of the serpentine consciousness. The Garden of Eden was partly established to give them an opportunity to rise above that state of consciousness. How could this be accomplished?

The Garden did have new co-creators who started out their journey of self-discovery in that environment. By interacting with these innocent lifestreams, those in the serpentine consciousness had an opportunity to reform their approach to life, much like some adults on Earth who are transformed by working with children. Obviously, this arrangement came with the inherent risk that the new co-creators could be led astray by those who had already fallen. Yet this does not mean that the innocent lifestreams were thrown at the mercy of a flock of ravening wolves.

The Garden did, as already mentioned, have a head teacher who had successfully passed the temptation to engage in the serpentine consciousness. Likewise, there were a number of lifestreams who had passed this initiation in a higher realm and who had volunteered to descend to the Garden in order to serve as a counterbalance to the serpentine lifestreams. Thus, there was a balance between those who had risen above the serpentine consciousness and those who had not. By interacting with those who were above this temptation, those who fell had another opportunity to reconsider their choices. Naturally, those who were above the temptation could also serve to help the new co-creators avoid being tempted by the serpents. So the Garden was a balanced yet very dynamic environment, which of course goes against the popular myth of a static place of eternal rest. Yet as I have attempted to explain, there is no place of static rest, as even the spiritual realm is constantly transcending itself. Life is an ongoing process, the River of Life, and it is only the ego and fallen beings – who have separated from this process – who want to create a static place in which their power and control cannot be challenged by the force of life itself. I hope you can begin to see that this is an impossible dream that will never come to pass.

I have already mentioned that the Garden was not located in the physical vibrational spectrum. It was located in the identity realm, which is the highest of the four levels of the material universe. This realm is meant to serve as the meeting point between “heaven and Earth,” between the material universe and the spiritual realm. The idea is that a lifestream from any of the other three levels can raise its consciousness to the identity realm and then begin the process of ascending to the spiritual realm. Thus, the identity realm must remain pure, and to ensure this purity, it was divided. The Garden was located in the lowest level of the identity realm, which allowed it to house the serpents and also allowed it to serve as a schoolroom for lifestreams who had risen from the lower realms.

In order to understand how this was possible, we need to reach back to my earlier explanation that the Earth is very old and that the Garden was not established at the beginning of the Earth’s history. This is proven by the fact that there were people in the physical realm with whom Cain and Seth could intermarry. Some of the beings who started out in the physical realm had indeed risen in consciousness and were now being tutored in the Garden. I will later talk more about this, but for now it is necessary to give you a greater understanding of why there are four levels of the material universe.

***
To summarize what we have talked about so far, we can now see that you will never understand what is happening and has been happening on the Earth unless you realize that this planet is the temporary home to different lifestreams. I know most spiritual people have felt a sense of disgust over some of the things that have been happening and are still happening on this planet. I know many people are wondering why some people can do things that are so obviously evil or abusive toward others. How is it possible that some people seemingly have no sensitivity or concern for the suffering they inflict upon others or have no awareness of the consequences of their actions? How come some people have an obvious desire to control or suppress others, literally treating other people like property or slaves?

We can now begin to see part of the explanation for human evil. The stark reality is that some of the beings who inhabit human bodies on this little planet were not created to start out their existences on this planet. They were not created to descend to the identity level as new co-creators and eventually take on physical bodies. Some of these beings were indeed created as co-creators, but they were created in a higher realm. When their native realm ascended, they refused to let go of their separate sense of identity and join the River of Life. Thus, they fell into the newly created sphere.

Yet before they fell, some of these beings had attained a sophisticated understanding of their native sphere and how the world of form works. These beings did not fall from innocent ignorance, they fell from willful ignorance. This means that they often had a very high understanding of how the universe works, yet they did not have the Christ consciousness that allowed them to use this understanding in unselfish ways. Thus, instead of using their understanding – and their outer positions in a society in their native sphere – to raise up all life, they had become blinded by the dualistic desire to raise up themselves in comparison to others. This caused them to use their knowledge and power to actually limit and control other beings. They were seeking to elevate themselves by keeping other beings down, and this is an obvious violation of the Law of MORE. This law states that the only true way to raise yourself is to raise all life, so when you seek to raise yourself by limiting all other forms of life, you are truly out of touch with life itself.

Some of these self-centered beings have maintained their separate sense of identity in several spheres, meaning that they have fallen through several levels of the world of form. They have had a very long time to build their current sense of identity, meaning that they are very sure of themselves and their right to suppress other beings. So when they embody on Earth, they feel superior to most other people and they immediately seek to set themselves up in powerful positions. Some of these beings are simply self-centered and mainly want to control others in order to get power and privileges for themselves—all for the cause of expanding their sense of superiority. Yet some fallen beings have become trapped by the belief that they know better than God how the universe should be run, giving them a desire to prove God wrong. Thus, their desire for gaining control over other people is part of a larger agenda which few people have understood. This is a topic we will talk more about in coming chapters, when we have set the proper foundation.

My goal at this point is to make you aware that there are indeed beings on Earth who do not look at life the same way most people do. These beings – who wear normal human bodies – have become so self-centered that they have lost all sensitivity to the suffering of other people. The equation is simple, for the more you get lost in the duality consciousness – the further you descend down the spiral staircase – the more self-centered you will become. The inevitable companion of self-centeredness is an increased insensitivity to other forms of life. Only you matter, and other people simply don’t matter. The most self-centered people believe they have a superior right to pursue their self-defined goals. They believe the ends can justify the means—some of them even believe that their superior cause can justify any means, any amount of suffering inflicted upon other people. These beings are constantly and ruthlessly seeking to control others, which means they are seeking to take away their spiritual freedom.

I know this is a topic that makes many spiritual seekers uncomfortable, and they would rather not think about it. Yet if you are a sincere spiritual seeker, your goal must be to attain spiritual freedom. And how can you possibly hope to attain spiritual freedom unless you understand the forces that seek to take away that freedom? So as a mature seeker, you need to become aware that there is a force on planet Earth that is deliberately and aggressively seeking to take away the spiritual freedom of all people. Once you understand how this force works, it is quite easy to avoid its control over you personally. And if a critical mass of spiritual people come to a full understanding of this force, it will even be possible to permanently remove it from the Earth. We will talk much more about this later, but for now let us move on to look at another type of spiritual beings that have come to embody on Earth as a result of falling into the illusion of separation.

Excerpts from Key 14

The difference between co-creators and angels

I would like to summarize what we have discussed in the previous chapters. We have seen that the spheres are created with an increasing density. Starting with the fourth sphere, a new sphere is created in a mortal or incomplete state. This allows shadows to exist, which gives co-creators the opportunity to start out with a separate sense of identity and grow toward oneness. Yet the shadows also make it possible for the consciousness of anti-christ to ensnare both co-creators and angels, who cannot clearly see the fallacy of its dualistic, relative logic. This makes it possible that such beings will refuse to self-transcend, and this can prevent them from rising when their sphere ascends. Such beings will then “fall” into the sphere that is created as their own sphere ascends.

We now need to add that it takes a very long time – as time is measured on Earth – for a sphere to ascend. This means that the beings in a given sphere have a very long time to grow and develop their sense of identity. This is true for both angels and co-creators. Both can follow a path of expanding their identity and both can work their way up through layers of service in the sphere they were created to serve. Thus, by the time a sphere begins to ascend, both co-creators and angels might have attained high positions in their area of service. For example, an angel might have become the leader of a band of angels, whereas a co-creator might have become the leader of a great civilization on a planet like Earth. Yet neither of them will become fully immortalized until their sphere ascends. This means that when a sphere ascends, the co-creators and angels who were created to serve that sphere will face one final initiation, namely the ultimate test of selflessness.

***
What I will say at this point is that if a being – angel or co-creator – does not pass the final initiation of selflessness, it cannot ascend when its sphere ascends. Thus, such a being will “fall” into the next sphere, where it then has to, so to speak, “start from the bottom and work its way up in its Father’s company.” Such a fallen being will forget where it came from, but it will not lose its past attainment. In other words, although it starts out with a limited sense of identity, it can reconnect to the attainment it has built previously. This means that a fallen angel will be more advanced than a new co-creator, yet in order for it to rise above the state of consciousness that caused it to fall, the fallen angel must follow the same path as new co-creators, starting out in a cosmic schoolroom and seeking to come into oneness with the teacher. Since angels were not created to start out in a schoolroom, this can present a severe test of humility to the more sophisticated fallen angels.

We now see why the Serpent was in the Garden of Eden. The Serpent is a symbol for fallen angels (as well as a group of specific angels). We can now see why Eve was fooled by the Serpent who had an overpowering sense of identity and great skill in using the mind of anti-christ. Obviously, the teacher and some of the other students in the Garden had equal or greater skill than the Serpent, so Eve had a balanced opportunity to follow either a true teacher or a false teacher.
I earlier said that many spiritual people on Earth have an inner knowing that they are angels in embodiment. We can now see that although angels were not created to take embodiment, they will do so after they fall. However, this does not mean that all those who know they are angels in embodiment are necessarily fallen angels. After the first angels fell, other angels volunteered to descend into embodiment on a rescue mission for the fallen angels. More on this later.

***

Take note that even if an angel had great knowledge and skill before it fell, that expertise was acquired in a different environment than the one into which it falls. The reason being that each new sphere is more complex, more dense and has slightly different laws than the one before it. This means that even the highest-ranking fallen angels are not nearly as accomplished in their new sphere as they might think. They have to start by learning how their new sphere works. The difference is that they can eventually begin to tap into their previous experience and can thus master their environment faster than new co-creators.

When a fallen being enters a new sphere, it forgets its previous identity and attainment. Thus, it starts out with a limited sense of identity, much like a new co-creator. It goes through the same kind of rebirth as I described that students experience as they separate themselves from their teachers. The old sense of identity dies and the being is reborn into a new sense of identity in which it now sees itself as separated from its source. This gives the fallen being a chance to start with a clean slate. We might say that as the being grows in the cosmic schoolroom, it can build an entirely new sense of identity that is not polluted by memories of the sense of identity that fell.

The challenge is that as the fallen being matures, it must face a different initiation than that of new co-creators. New co-creators truly do start out with a clean slate, so they have no skeletons in the closet that must be dealt with later. A fallen being must inevitably face the initiation of rediscovering its previous identity. It then faces the difficult test of choosing between the new more innocent identity it has created or reverting back into its old, more sophisticated identity. We might say it faces the challenge of letting its fallen identity die or choosing to embody it once more. We might also say that whereas new co-creators only have to discover their divine identity, fallen beings have to first discover and dismiss their fallen identity before they can discover and embody their divine identity.

Obviously, this is a complex challenge, but rest assured that the teacher in the spiritual school is well aware of it and is prepared to offer fallen beings all possible help to pass it. Some fallen beings accept this help and turn themselves around, but others will not accept the teacher’s help. Thus, they usually cannot graduate from the schoolroom but end up going out into their new sphere without having become spiritually self-sufficient. This has a number of ramifications that we will look at in coming chapters.

***

If one wants to be technical, one can say that there are no angels in embodiment. The reason being that an angel is a being who is created with a specific identity in which it is an extension of God’s will. The angel falls by rebelling against this purpose, thus separating itself from its true identity. The true identity dies and the angel is reborn into a new identity. The new identity is technically not the identity of an angel but a being who sees itself as separated from God’s will and law. However, this still does not override the fact that many beings in embodiment were created as angels and fell from that identity.

Power Elite 1: Understanding separateness, selfishness and sainthood

 Excerpts from Key 4

The purpose of this universe

As I have said, the material universe is made from the same basic substance as the spiritual realm. Yet the light in the material universe has been lowered to a different vibrational spectrum. We might also say that the lower vibration makes the light less intense, and thus it is not – yet – able to fill the material universe with light. That is why the space between solar systems and galaxies appears to be empty. It appears as if there are huge areas with no light and that only certain localized areas – your sun being one example – radiate light from within themselves. We might say that there is still more darkness than light in the material universe. The effect is that you cannot see energies above a certain vibration, and thus you cannot see that physical matter is actually made from finer energies that stream into the material universe from a higher vibrational spectrum. We might say that there is an observation horizon beyond which most people cannot perceive with their current level of consciousness.

The density of matter makes it possible for people to create and maintain the illusion that there is no God or that they are separated from God by an impenetrable barrier. This sense of separation from God inevitably leads people to see themselves as separate, independent beings. People can see themselves as being separate from other people, which gives rise to the illusion that you can harm other people, other forms of life and even the physical planet, without harming yourself. This, of course, is the essential cause of all human conflict and atrocities, for if people knew they were hurting themselves by hurting others, most of them would modify their behavior accordingly. Only a few very disturbed people would deliberately hurt themselves, but in reality, even they do not fully understand what they are doing. We might say that the purpose of life in the material realm is to overcome the limited perception of reality, so that you can experience directly that you are not a separate being but an extension of your source, of your Creator.

***
Let me now ask you to imagine that you travel up through the various levels of the spiritual realm until you reach the highest level. This is the level described in the Bible as God saying, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending” (Revelation 21:6). This is the highest level of the world of form, because it is the first level of the Creator expressing itself in form. The Creator starts by expressing itself as two polarities, the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the ending, the expanding and the contracting forces, the out-breath and the in-breath, the Yang and the Yin. On the human level, these forces are often seen as the Father and the Mother or the masculine and feminine, although they are far beyond human sexuality.

The point is that as the first level of expression, the One Creator expresses itself as two polarities. These are not opposites, and they do not cancel out each other. They are complementary forces that supplement and enhance each other. When they meet in a balanced manifestation, they multiply each other and become more. The whole is more than the sum of its parts, and thus a new expression of life is created. This is how all the succeeding levels of the world of form are created, as we will later explore. My point here is to show that the One Creator manifests itself as two polarities, yet beyond the highest level of the world of form there is still the One Creator. In other words, there is only One God, and although “without him was not anything made that was made” the One God never ceases to be One, the indivisible whole.

Many religions on Earth talk about this One God, simply using different names and slightly different descriptions for the same reality. Yet before we can go any further, we need to address a misconception that has crept into several religions. This misunderstanding states that there is nothing beyond the One God, that this superior or ultimate God is all there is to God. This is partly due to a lack of perception and understanding of anything beyond. Yet it is also caused by the human ego’s need for superiority. Many religious people have a need to feel that their religion is the only true one and is superior to any other religion. And if your religion is the only true one and is the only one worshiping the ultimate God, then it must be the best religion on Earth—or so the ego reasons. This war of religions has prevented the Ascended Host from releasing a higher understanding of God on this planet. Yet a critical mass has been reached, and we have determined to release this higher understanding for those who have eyes to see.

***
Again, reality is not linear, but I will give you a linear image. Imagine a figure-eight. It has an upper figure, a lower figure and a center—the point in the nexus. Your Creator is represented by the nexus, the meeting point between the upper and the lower figure. The lower figure is a representation of the world of form that is created by your Creator and in which you live. The upper figure is – a highly inadequate – representation of a level of God, a reality of God, that is beyond your Creator. This level of God I would like to call the Pure Being of God or the Allness of God’s Presence.

What is this Allness? It is something that cannot be accurately described or represented by any of the linear words and images that the human mind can fathom. It is beyond the world of form and cannot be represented by anything in the world of form. In this world you find separate forms that are set apart from each other, and thus they are defined by their differences. These differences are also limitations that set limits for each form and set it apart from the whole. Naturally, this causes people to focus on the differences and prevents them from seeing this world as a coherent whole. They see the trees but not the forest. In the Allness, there are no separate forms, no contradictions and no limitations. Yet the human mind finds it difficult to fathom a world without separateness, and thus it might be the wiser course of action to say nothing about it. Yet you need to understand certain things in order to understand why your universe was created.

In this universe you are used to having a separate sense of existence. You clearly see yourself as an individual being who is separated from other people. You are separated from nature and the rest of the vast universe in which you live. You experience that you have a separate will, and therefore you can create – by using the mind’s ability to imagine and conceptualize – the illusion that you can harm others without harming yourself. You can conceptualize that there is a God, but you tend to see yourself as separated from God. Thus, you tend to see his will as being outside of, possibly in opposition to, your own. You might conceptualize that God has laws, but you tend to see them as put upon you by an external authority and you might see them as restricting your freedom to do what you want as a separate being. As you walk the spiritual path, you might build a stronger connection to this external God. You may eventually build a sense of oneness with your God, as Jesus expressed when he said, “I and my Father are one” (John 10:30). Yet you still see yourself as an “I” that has become one with the “It” or the greater “I.”

In the Allness, no such sense of separation is possible. There are individual Beings – I prefer to call them Presences – in the Allness. They do have a sense of individual awareness, but they also have an awareness of not only being one with the Allness, but being the Allness. They can focus their awareness at a particular “point” – although time and space have no meaning in the Allness – and they can focus on a particular quality of the Allness. Yet they can never lose their ability to be one with, to be everywhere in, the Allness. They can make decisions, so they have freedom of choice. But they cannot make separate decisions in the sense that they can never say that they want to do something that benefits themselves while hurting others. Nor can they seek to elevate themselves as being better or more important than other Beings. Such concepts have no meaning in the Allness. The Presences in the Allness do not have a sense of oneness with God—they are God. It would be unthinkable that they would see God’s laws as put upon them by an external authority. Consequently, it would be unthinkable for them to go against God’s laws or the purpose of creation. They are that law and they define that purpose.

I realize this is difficult to fathom with the linear mind, yet the image I want to give you is that in the Allness, a separate existence simply is not possible. You may think, “Well, but I prefer to be a separate individual.” And that is precisely why you – still – find yourself in this universe. Let me explain.

The Presences in the Allness conceived of setting aside a sphere from the Allness. A Presence could then project itself into that sphere and focus itself as a separate Being. It could then create a separate world in that sphere, and this could be a valuable learning experience for this Being. Yet once you have created a sphere in which a separate existence is possible, another possibility opens up. The Being that projects itself into the sphere still has a memory of its existence in the Allness. Yet this being can now create self-conscious extensions of itself, beings that are created without any memory of the Allness, and thus – from their inception – see themselves as separate beings. Because they are created out of the consciousness of their Creator, the Creator can still experience the world through their individual minds. Thus, the Creator can experience what it is like to be a separate being.
Yet precisely because these beings are extensions of the consciousness of the Creator, they have the potential to expand their individual sense of identity until they attain a sense of oneness with their Creator. They can then have the option to take on the role of a Creator, and they can even go beyond and enter the Allness as individual Presences. Because they started out their self-awareness as separate beings, they can enter the Allness with the memory of what it is like to be separated from the Allness, giving them a special sense of appreciation for the Allness. They can then share this appreciation with the Presences that remained in the Allness, and thus everyone grows from the interplay between the Allness and that which is less than the Allness.

In short, the Presences in the Allness realized that there is value in creating a process through which a being can start out with the sense of identity as a separate and limited being who is focused on itself in a world that is separated from the Allness. This being can then gradually grow in self-awareness until it expands its sense of self to encompass the Allness. The being can then enter the Allness with the memory of what it is like to climb toward the Allness, thus having a greater sense of appreciation than a being who has never experienced anything but the Allness. This process is what I will call the Path of Oneness to signify that it takes you from a sense of separation toward a sense of oneness with the Allness, oneness with all life.

***
How was your particular universe created? A Presence in the Allness decided that it wanted to experience what it is like to be separated from the Allness and create forms that are separated from the Allness. It started by projecting a spherical boundary around itself, creating the illusion of a division within the Allness.

Within this sphere, the Presence now contracted its consciousness – in the Allness everything is consciousness – into a single point, a singularity, within the center of the sphere. This created a sphere that was not filled with the Allness, and thus it opened up the potential for creating separate forms within this sphere. Yet in the beginning there were no separate forms in the sphere, neither was there the fullness of the Allness. Thus, the sphere was void, which is a concept that you find in several religions.

The singularity in the center of the void now became the focal point for the Being that is the Creator of your universe. You might notice that the concept of a singularity in the center of a void is similar to the theory of the Big Bang, developed by modern science. Science says that before the Big Bang, all of the matter and energy in the material universe was compressed into a singularity. From there, it expanded outward in a giant and uncontrolled explosion that gradually gave rise to an incredibly complex system of galaxies and solar systems—yet this complexity has arisen spontaneously from a random process. In reality, the picture is very different, as we will see later.

In the singularity of the Creator, there was no matter as it is known in the material universe where you live. There was only pure consciousness, pure Being. The creative process began when the Creator projected its own Being, its own consciousness, outward. This did not happen in an uncontrolled and unplanned explosion. On the contrary, the Creator first projected itself as a substance that we have earlier called Light. By the creation of this light, the Creator had formed the first polarity, namely between itself and the Light. The Creator is the active, expanding or Alpha principle, whereas the Light is the passive, contracting or Omega principle. If we follow a traditional religious imagery and call the Creator for God the Father, then the Light becomes God the Mother, or the Mother Light, the Ma-ter Light.

The Mother Light is in itself formless, but it has the potential to take on absolutely any form. The Mother Light is created out of the Creator’s own consciousness and Being, so the Mother Light has consciousness. Yet it does not have consciousness as an individual being that is separated from the Creator. It has awareness as a Being that is an extension of the Creator. The consequence is that the Mother Light cannot – in and of itself – create any manifest or separate form. The Mother Light can take on form only when it is acted upon by the Creator or by self-conscious, separate beings created by the Creator. In the most general sense, we can call such a being a co-creator although – as we will discus later – there are various types of self-conscious beings in the world of form.

In the beginning, the Mother Light existed only as a concept – a state of pure consciousness – and there was not yet any manifest, or expressed, light. As the first act of manifest creation, the Creator projected itself outward in the form of the Mother Light. By using the Mother Light, the Creator created a sphere that was set apart from the void. In the void is nothingness (as opposed to Allness), and the Creator now created a sphere in the center of the void. This sphere had a certain intensity of light, setting it apart from the nothingness of the void yet still being far away from the intensity of light found in the Allness.

As the next act of creation, the Creator created certain structures in the first sphere. These structures were quite different from what you find in the material universe, but the main point is that they provided a platform for life, for intelligent, self-conscious beings. Thus, the Creator now projected itself into the first sphere in the form of such self-conscious beings. These beings were extensions of the Creator, individualizations created from the Creator’s consciousness. Yet they were created as separate beings with a separate sense of identity. They did not have the full self-awareness of the Creator, and their self-awareness was focused upon their separate beings. They did not have an awareness of the Allness, and they were focused on the sphere in which they came into being. They did not have a direct awareness of themselves as being extensions of the Creator. However, they did have a direct connection to the Creator in the sense that the Creator served as a teacher or tutor for them.

The first self-conscious beings were sent into the new sphere with the command to “Multiply and have dominion!” They were given the gifts of individuality, self-awareness, imagination, free will and rational thinking. They were given the ability to command the Mother Light through the power of their minds, and they were given a certain amount of light that was theirs to command as a start. By using their creative faculties, they could create more structures in the sphere, thus gradually filling it to greater intensity and complexity. By multiplying their talents (Matthew 25:14), they would receive more light, which would increase their creative powers and also increase the intensity of the light in their own beings. As they used that light and projected it around themselves, they would increase the intensity of the light in their sphere, so that it was further set apart from the nothingness of the void and came closer to the Allness. In doing so, these lifestreams would grow in self-awareness.

They would first realize that their teacher was the Creator. They would then accept themselves as individualizations of God the Father, as extensions of the Creator. They would realize that they were living in the cosmic womb of God the Mother. As the Father and Mother elements came into oneness within their beings, a new self-awareness was born, and they attained a sense of oneness with their Creator without losing their individual awareness. As this oneness became complete, they could eventually make a choice to enter the Allness or they could become creators of their own worlds of form.

After the first sphere had reached a certain intensity of light, the Creator called the self-conscious beings who had mastered the lessons presented by the first sphere – let us call them masters – to participate with it in creating a second sphere. The Creator then projected the Mother Light out from the first sphere to create a second sphere that was set apart from the void. The masters of the first sphere then created certain inanimate structures in this sphere in order to provide a platform for intelligent life. After that, the masters of the first sphere created self-conscious extensions of themselves who were sent into the second sphere with the command to “Multiply and have dominion!”

You can now see the pattern. When the second sphere had reached a critical intensity of light, it too was used as the platform for creating the next sphere. This process of gradually expanding God’s kingdom of light by taking in more and more of the void has gone through a number of stages. The material universe in which you live is the latest stage of this process. In other words, the universe in which you live is the newest sphere in God’s creation. It is still relatively young, which is why there appears to be empty space or darkness left. So far, only relatively few beings in this world have become self-luminous and have ascended to the higher realms.

The Mother Light that makes up the material universe still vibrates at such low frequencies and has such low intensity that it is possible to create the illusion that there is nothing beyond the material universe. Yet your world is nevertheless the extension of a series of concentric, interpenetrating and coexisting spheres that started with the singularity of the Creator. Your world was created out of the same basic substance as the higher spheres, namely the Mother Light, which is made out of the Creator’s consciousness. Without him was not anything made that was made.

***
Let us consider the meaning of consciousness. In the Allness, everything is made from one mind, from one consciousness. We might call it the Mind of God, but if you project human images upon the concept “God,” you will not be able to fathom the consciousness that is the Allness. In the Allness everything is consciousness, meaning that everything is conscious. There are individual Presences in the Allness, and they focus on a particular quality. From your view in this universe, you might see them as the Presence of Infinite Light, the Presence of Unconditional Love, the Presence of God’s Will, the Presence of Oneness etcetera. However, such individual Presences do not see themselves as separated from the Allness or from each other. They are fully aware that they are extensions of the Allness and that they are part of the same whole. Thus, they are all one in the Allness. Likewise, they do not see themselves as extensions of a remote God. They are God, meaning that the Pure Being of God is not in the Allness but is the Allness. In the Allness everything is God and everything is self-aware, meaning that everything is aware of itself as God.

In the created realm in which you live, the world of form, it is possible to create something that is not self-aware. As I said, everything is created out of the consciousness of the Creator, meaning that everything has a form of consciousness. That is why Jesus said that if men should refuse to defend the Christ, the stones would cry out (Luke 19:40). Everything is created from the Mother Light, so everything has – or is – consciousness. Yet it takes a certain complexity before a form can become the focus of self-awareness.

In the Allness, there is nothing that is not self-aware. In the world of form, it is possible to create inanimate forms and animate beings that do not have self-awareness. It is also possible to have self-aware beings who are not aware of their connection to anything beyond themselves, thus not aware that they are extensions of their Creator or aware of the Allness. This makes it possible that in the world of form you can have beings who have a limited self-awareness but have the potential to expand that self-awareness until they attain oneness with the All.

In other words, the entire purpose for this world of form is to give you the opportunity to experience yourself as a separate being with a narrowly focused self-awareness. When you have had enough of this experience, you can step unto a systematic path that will gradually expand your self-awareness, until you can enter the Allness with the memory of what it is like to be outside the Allness, giving you a unique appreciation for the Allness.

***
Where does the process of expanding the spheres of light end? Naturally, it ends when the entire void has been turned into a sphere of light and when every part of that sphere has reached the intensity of light that is the Allness. In other words, what used to be separate and less than the Allness has now become the Allness. Yet this will not – as some religions portray – happen automatically or through some kind of inevitable process. It will happen only as a result of the free-will choices made by the self-aware beings who inhabit God’s spheres. This means that the darkness and limitations found in the world of form will not disappear completely until all self-aware beings have had their full opportunity to experience what it is like to be separate beings living in a world of – self-created – limitations.

You are an extension of your Creator, yet your Creator gave you a sense of identity as a separate being. Your Creator wants you to come home by expanding your sense of self until you attain full oneness with your Creator and with all life. Your Creator knows that coming back to Oneness is the only way for you to feel fully happy, fully whole, fully at peace. Yet your Creator wants you to do this out of a free choice that is based on love. Thus, your Creator has great – although not unlimited – patience with your choices and will allow you to experiment with limitations for a very long time if you prefer.

I know these concepts are most likely far beyond your present religious beliefs and understanding. I understand that it can take some time and contemplation to fully understand these ideas and integrate them. In the coming chapters, I will give you additional teachings to help you make full use of these concepts and relate them to your present situation on Earth. Yet for now I ask you to consider what these concepts can teach you about the meaning of life, the purpose of life. So many people have asked the questions about where they come from, where they are going and whether life truly has any meaning. I hope you can now begin to at least glimpse that these questions actually have meaningful answers.

As you begin to integrate these answers, you will find that an entirely new world, an entirely new world view, opens up to you. You are not a miserable sinner thrust into a hostile universe by some angry God. You are not all alone in a hostile environment where everyone is out to get you. You are not limited to who you are or what you experience right now.

You are an extension of your God. You are your God experiencing itself as a separate being who is on a journey from a lower level of consciousness to the highest level of consciousness that is the Allness. Everything you have experienced here on Earth can give you a valuable perspective on your journey, on yourself and on life. Even the most unpleasant of circumstances can be turned into an opportunity to learn, an opportunity to raise your consciousness and expand your self-awareness. Thus, you have the potential to raise yourself above any circumstances you might be experiencing.

The entire purpose of life is to rise above your present sense of self and attain a greater sense of self. No matter what circumstances you have experienced or do experience, you can never lose the ability to overcome them, to rise higher. Thus, if you do not like your present circumstances, you can unlock your inner potential to overcome them. If you do not like who you are, you can expand your sense of who you are until you transcend any limitation in the material universe.

If this does not give you a different perspective on your current limitations, there can be only one reason. You have not yet had enough of experiencing these circumstances, and thus you have not summoned the will to leave them behind. You are miserable because you want to experience what it is like to be miserable, and you will continue to experience this “reality” until you decide that you have had enough and want to experience a different, a greater, reality. I know this can sound harsh to people who are suffering, so let us move on to consider how you can make use of your ability to transcend any limitation in the world of form.

Excerpts from Key 5

To be MORE, or to be less—that is the real question

My point is that the fact that you see yourself as a separate being makes it possible for you to use your will as if you really were a separate being. Thus, you can convince yourself that your actions do not have consequences that affect you. You can even convince yourself that your actions do not have any (negative) consequences at all. What is the deciding factor between those who are trapped inside this illusion and those who have seen beyond it? It is the level of self-centeredness. The more self-centered you become – the more attached you are to your separate sense of identity – the more blind you are to the reality that all life is one interconnected whole. Thus, you begin to believe that you have a right to do whatever you want and that you can get away with doing whatever you want. If you look at history, you will see that some of the worst human atrocities were perpetrated by the most self-centered people on the planet. One of the inescapable consequences of giving separate beings free will is that it is possible that one being can build the illusion that it is the center of the universe, that it is the only being that matters and that it has a right to do whatever it wants without considering how it affects others. A separate being might even believe that all other separate beings are here only to serve its own needs.

This leads to an interesting conclusion. If your Creator had given all self-transcending beings free will without setting up any safety mechanism to guide the use of that free will, it would have given an unfair advantage to those who had become self-centered. The more self-centered you become, the more willing you are to disregard how your actions affect others. You are willing to control others and to destroy those who will not be controlled. So the more insensitive and aggressive you become, the more willing you are to use your free will to control, harm or destroy others. If there was no mechanism to restrain the most self-centered beings, this world of form could have descended into anarchy with no hope of ever emerging from this state of chaos. I know it might seem as if the law of the jungle reigns supreme on Earth, but that is not actually the case, as we will see.

Let us remember that the purpose of this world of form is to give you the opportunity to start out with a separate sense of identity and gradually expand your sense of self until you become the Allness. Yet because you have free will, it is possible for you to go in the opposite direction. In the process of doing so, you might imprison or destroy other self-transcending beings before you finally destroy yourself. In other words, free will gives you the opportunity to create a downward spiral that traps you behind a wall of self-created illusions. This can make you blind to the consequences of your choices. Thus, once you have become blinded by self-centeredness, you can no longer choose to pull yourself out. You are now hurting yourself without fully realizing what you are doing, and thus you are not truly making free choices.

An intelligent and loving Creator obviously would not want this to happen to any of the extensions of itself. Thus, it was necessary to set up certain laws that could accompany the Law of Free Will, creating a safety net that could give separate beings all possible opportunities for not destroying themselves.

Excerpts from Key 7

Understanding the cosmic growth process

In the preceding chapters I have given teachings that give you the big picture for the entire world of form and all beings in it. I will now focus specifically on helping you understand your situation as a human being on Earth.

Let us begin by summarizing the process of how a sphere is created. The first step is that a sphere is set apart from the void. Masters from the higher spheres create certain structures in the new sphere and, within the larger framework of the laws defined by the Creator, they define certain specific laws for the new sphere. Self-aware beings are then created to help the new sphere ascend, either by working from the spiritual realm (angels) or by helping to co-create it from within (co-creators). As the sphere reaches a critical intensity of light and organization, it “ascends” and becomes a permanent part of the spiritual realm.

When a sphere ascends, it becomes so filled with light that there is no longer room for the illusion of separateness. The beings who were sent into the sphere started out with a separate sense of identity, yet by transcending themselves they helped raise up their sphere. When a critical mass of beings reach the mastery of oneness with their source, they have brought their sphere to the point of ascension. As one sphere goes through the process of ascending, a new sphere is created by being set apart from the void. The ascending sphere is becoming so filled with light that the illusion of a separate identity cannot be maintained by the beings in that sphere. Yet in the newly created sphere, there is still such a low intensity of light that darkness or shadows can exist, and thus the illusion of a separate existence is possible. A new “generation” of beings is born and sent into the new sphere, beings who start out with a limited sense of identity and an awareness of themselves as separate beings.

I have explained that the very first sphere was created by the Creator itself. Thus, the beings who were sent into – or rather created in – that sphere were created directly by the Creator. The first sphere was designed in such a way that the structures in it were less defined, more fluid or less dense than what you see in the material world. We might say that the Ma-ter Light out of which the first sphere was created vibrated at a higher level and therefore everything in that sphere was more transparent than matter in your sphere. The consequence is that although the beings in the first sphere started out with a separate sense of self, it was far easier for them to overcome separateness than it is for the beings in the material universe. The first beings could easily see that there was something beyond their sphere, that it was created by a Being beyond themselves and that it was sustained by a constant stream of spiritual light that originated with the Creator and was stepped down to their level of vibration. They knew they were not alone and that there was something or someone beyond their own sphere. In other words, it was relatively easy for the first beings to ascend and attain the mastery of oneness with their source.

When the next sphere was created, the beings who had attained mastery in the first sphere helped create the second sphere. It was the Creator who set the second sphere apart from the void, and he also defined the laws for that sphere. Within that framework, the masters from the first sphere designed certain structures that could serve as a platform for life in the second sphere. These structures were more specific, more defined, than the structures in the first sphere. The masters from the first sphere used their own experiences to design these structures. It was part of the Creator’s plan that the structures in the second sphere should be more defined, more complex, more dense, than in the first sphere. In this way the second sphere would be one step further removed from oneness, making it more challenging for the beings in the second sphere to overcome separation.

If the beings in the second sphere had been created as the beings in the first sphere, the density of the second sphere might have been difficult for them to overcome. It would have been similar to taking a group of children and asking them to run a country. Yet the beings in the second sphere were created out of the consciousness of the masters from the first sphere. Thus, these second generation beings were designed based on the experience of these masters, meaning that they had a basis for overcoming the greater separation. This equipped them to deal with the density of the second sphere, making it possible that the Creator – through the second generation beings – could experience a greater sense of separation while minimizing the risk that these beings would become lost in separation. This is somewhat similar to the school system on Earth. Students start out by learning addition and subtraction, which gives them a basis for learning multiplication. This in turn gives them a basis for learning more advanced math, eventually leading to the university level.

The plan of the Creator is that the spheres are created as a continuum from less dense to more dense, from closer to oneness to further removed from oneness, from less complex to greater complexity. The specific structures in each succeeding sphere are designed by those who attained mastery in the previous sphere, but beings in all previous spheres are involved in the design of a new sphere. This means that each new sphere becomes more sophisticated, more specific, more expressed, which necessitates that the Ma-ter Light has a lower vibration. Greater complexity means a greater variety of different forms, and only light of a denser vibration can give rise to greater differentiation. We might say that the matter that makes up the material universe is more dense than the “stuff” in the spiritual realm. Matter is so dense that you cannot see that it is made from vibrating energy, that it is made from spiritual light that has been stepped down in vibration. You cannot directly perceive – at least not with the state of consciousness that is currently considered normal on Earth – that there is something beyond the material universe.

The higher density makes it more challenging for the beings sent into the new sphere to overcome separateness and come into oneness. Yet in their striving to overcome separation, they can lean on the beings who have gone before them in higher spheres. Thus, any given being is not truly separate – no man is an island – but has access to the entire hierarchy of beings that have gone before it and out of which it is the latest expression. It is somewhat like a family tree that gives you access to the experience of all previous generations, giving you the option of learning from the mistakes of others so you do not have to reinvent the wheel or repeat the same mistakes.

Starting to see through the deceptions of anti-christ

A message from the Ascended Master Jesus through Kim Michaels.

I am come to give you a teaching that is extremely important for those who walk the path to personal Christhood. The essence of my teaching is that as you step on to the path, you need to anticipate that your progress will be challenged by the prince of this world. Wise is the student who anticipates this and therefore learns to recognize the tempter at the earliest possible moment. It is only by anticipating the challenge and by recognizing it early that you can avoid becoming trapped in a downward spiral of reasoning with the Prince of this world and his Serpentine logic.

My beloved friends, there is the mind of Christ and there is the mind of anti-christ. There is nothing in between. As I said, “You cannot serve two masters.” And as Moses said, “Choose life.” There is nothing in between the mind of Christ and the mind of anti-christ. If you are not in the mind of Christ, then you are in the mind of anti-christ. Take note of the subtle distinction here.

 The mind of anti-christ

The mind of anti-christ is the mind of duality. This mind sets up two dualistic opposites, two relative extremes, such as the polarities of good and evil. When you are trapped by this dualistic mind, you think in terms of black and white. Yet this is nothing but a smokescreen, set up by the prince of this world to fool those who have not yet attained a glimpse of the Christ mind. For example, many Christians are so concerned about anti-christ that they have been fooled into thinking that it always appears as the devil himself. Therefore, they think that an idea which is anti-christ is easy to recognize because it is dark or contradicts the Bible (especially their interpretation of the Bible). Yet in reality the entire range of dualistic consciousness is the consciousness of anti-christ.

Take note of what I am saying. Surely, many of the dark, egotistical or manipulative ideas are expressions of the mind of anti-christ. Yet what most people, especially many religious people, will not acknowledge is that even most of the ideas and practices that human beings call “good” are also expressions of the mind of anti-christ. This is a truth that will make many people uncomfortable, yet it is a truth that must be acknowledged by all those who are willing to step on to the path of personal Christhood.

What is the essence of the path to Christhood? It is that you increase your ability to discern between that which is of God and that which is not of God, between that which is of the mind of Christ and that which springs from the mind of anti-christ. The mind of anti-christ is the mind that keeps you separated from God and prevents you from knowing, “I and my Father, meaning my I AM Presence, are one.”

The mind of anti-christ is the mind of duality, and as long as you are trapped in that mind, you can go around in circles for an indefinite period of time. It is quite possible that a person doing this can believe that he or she is on the path to salvation. Such a person will often set up an outer standard and say that as long as you believe in all the right doctrines, do all the right things and don’t do any of the wrong things, your salvation is guaranteed. This is the sense of righteousness shared by the scribes and Pharisees of old, and you might remember that I denounced their righteousness and clearly stated that unless you go to a higher level of righteousness, namely the righteousness of the Christ consciousness, you cannot enter Heaven.

Be willing to be uncomfortable for a time

I am fully aware that for those who are new to the path of Christhood, this teaching will be uncomfortable and confusing. After all, every human being has been brought up with dualistic beliefs, which claim that certain ideas are true and good while others are wrong and of the devil. If what you have been brought up to believe is good is not truly good, then what can you trust? This leads to the dilemma that all sincere spiritual seekers must face. You have been brought up to accept many dualistic lies, and those lies have given you a sense of security and comfortability. They have formed the platform for your life and have given you a secure world view. Yet that world view is a house built on sand, the sand of the consciousness of duality.

In order to progress on the spiritual path, you need to move away from the sand and step on to the rocky ground of the Christ consciousness. Yet the first step you must take is to recognize that you are standing on sand, meaning that many of your beliefs are out of alignment with the truth and the reality of God. Admitting this will be uncomfortable to every single one of you. There is no human being who is an exception to this, and I can assure you that I was not an exception to it myself.

All those who have walked the spiritual path have had to face the fact that in order to move forward, we have to leave behind some of the beliefs that make us feel comfortable. In fact, if you are to make maximum progress on the path, you must be willing to question any and all of your outer beliefs. You must be willing to endure the discomfort of questioning your outer beliefs, and in the end you will have to question every single one of your dualistic beliefs.

Therefore, the path to personal Christhood is a path for those who are willing to be uncomfortable in order to make progress. As my beloved colleague, the master El Morya has said, “The trek upward is worth the inconvenience.” Yet in the beginning, you will mostly experience the inconvenience, and you will experience only a little of the reward. That is why no one can make progress without a certain amount of faith, which, as the Bible says, is the evidence of things not seen. You have to be willing to trust that if you endure the discomfort of questioning your beliefs, you will eventually find the answers you are looking for and attain a sense of peace that is not built on your outer beliefs but on an inner recognition of truth.

The key of knowledge

The key to walking the spiritual path is to recognize that you have an ability to know truth inside yourself. This is what I called the “key of knowledge,” and you will remember that I challenged the lawyers who had taken it out of the orthodox religion. Those same lawyers are still with you on this planet today, in fact many of the lawyers that I challenged 2,000 years ago have reincarnated as the leaders of Christian churches. They have, once again, taken away the key of knowledge and claim that you cannot know truth on your own but that you must follow outer doctrines.

This is a lie, and you cannot start the path to personal Christhood until you see through and challenge that lie. You cannot start the path until you are willing to challenge your outer beliefs, even challenge the authorities who gave you those beliefs and who claim that they are infallible. You must be willing to go within and make contact with your Christ self and seek answers from that source.

You see, my beloved, this is the essential key to walking the spiritual path. The key is that you must begin to find answers from within instead of allowing any outer authority, be it your ego, a religious authority, your best friend or someone who claims to be a spiritual teacher, to tell you what is true. The central point is that you must begin to trust the direction you get from within, so that you will not let anyone outside yourself sway you from the path. And when I say anyone outside yourself, I also mean your personal ego because that truly is also something that is outside your Self.

When you have this understanding, it becomes very clear to you that the path to Christhood is a series of decisions that you must make. Only you can make those decisions, and the you that is making the decisions is the conscious you, your conscious mind. Yet the key to making decisions is to have accurate and complete information. So the question is whether you make your decisions in life based on an outer authority or the inner authority of your Christ self?

What I have given on this website are teachings and tools that can help you establish a conscious contact with your Christ self. Thereby, you can get inner answers that go beyond the outer teaching. It was never my intention, and this has been stated clearly in several places for those who have ears to hear, that the teachings on this website should become of replacement for the directions from your Christ self.

It was my intention to give you a foundation that would enable you to tell the difference between the true teachings from your Christ self and the false teachings from the prince of this world. If you use the teachings on this website for this purpose, you will do justice to my efforts to set you free. If you allow the teachings on this website to become an infallible doctrine that prevents you from thinking on your own, then you are misusing my teachings and betraying my intent.

Do you see my point here? Even a true teaching can be misused and become a tool for the forces of anti-christ that seek to pull you away from the inner oneness with your Christ self and I AM Presence.

Why are you tempted?

With this in mind, let us take the next step. You need to recognize that your soul was not born into the duality consciousness. As I explain throughout this website, and as Mother Mary has explained, your soul made choices that gradually caused you to descend into the duality consciousness. You decided to move away from God, until you reached a turning point. Everyone who is open to this website reached that turning point a long time ago, and since then you have been walking the path that brings you closer and closer to oneness, first with your Christ self, then with your I AM Presence and then with God.

Yet the key I would give you here is that walking the path is a matter of reversing the process that took you away from oneness. You moved away from oneness because you came to accept certain lies that spring from the consciousness of separation and duality. You were tempted with these lies, as Eve was tempted in the Garden of Eden. You were tempted by the Serpent and the serpentine logic.

By accepting a number of serpentine lies, you gradually moved away from oneness without even realizing what was happening. Therefore, the key to moving back toward oneness is that you must see through the very serpentine lies that took you away from oneness. You must see through these lies, and you must decide to replace the old decisions with new decisions that bring you closer to oneness.

Beyond the intellect

The essential key here is that this process is not a matter of moving toward a higher and more sophisticated human or intellectual understanding. As I said earlier, the dualistic mind has set up two extremes, and most people have been brought up to accept that these two extremes are accurate and in alignment with the reality of God. Therefore, most spiritual seekers believe that certain ideas are not spiritual, whereas other ideas are truly spiritual.

Many seekers also believe that the more complex and sophisticated an idea or teaching seems to the intellect, the more spiritual the teaching must be. There are even those who claim to be spiritual teachers and who seek to impress their students with a very complicated teaching, claiming that only the sophisticated students can grasp the teaching. In reality, the truth of Christ is not hard to understand, and it does not require a sophisticated intellect. On the contrary, a sophisticated intellect can often keep a student trapped in dualistic arguments that can go on forever. That is why I said that unless you become as a little child, you cannot enter the kingdom.

Many of the ideas that the religions of this world portray as being true simply form the opposite polarity to what those same religions proclaim to be the ideas of anti-christ. So you see, even that which many religions claim to be truth springs from the consciousness of anti-christ, the serpentine mind.

The scribes and the Pharisees believed they had a very sophisticated understanding of the spiritual laws. And indeed, they had a very sophisticated intellectual understanding of the doctrines of the outer religion. Yet many of the ideas that they thought were true actually sprang from the consciousness of duality, and therefore those ideas would take people away from the inner oneness with their Christ selves.

No outer salvation

I am not saying that all of the ideas espoused by the scribes and Pharisees, or all of the ideas promoted by the world’s religions, are necessarily false. Some of them are true teachings, yet they have been overlaid by a subtle culture and belief system that tricks people into believing that God is outside themselves and that the doorway to Heaven is outside themselves. And thereby, even a true idea can become perverted into serving the cause of anti-christ by taking you away from oneness with the inner Christ.

As I said, “The kingdom of God is within you,” and you will never find the kingdom of God until you stop looking for it outside yourself. The key, whereby you can personally enter the kingdom of God, is not found on this website, nor is it found in any other spiritual teaching or practice. The key to your entrance into the kingdom of God is found inside yourself. Therefore, if a teaching encourages you to look for the key of knowledge outside yourself, then that teaching is actually serving the cause of anti-christ by keeping you trapped in the consciousness of duality.

My point being that anything which takes you away from the inner oneness with your Christ self is a distraction from your spiritual progress. Therefore, you must learn to recognize ideas and practices that tempt you away from following what you know is true in your heart. This includes spiritual teachings and other people who claim to be spiritual teachers.

Being constantly vigilant

My point here is that in order to walk the spiritual path, you must make the sacrifice of being constantly alert and vigilant. As I have said many times, there is no automatic path to Christhood. You cannot step on to a train, sit back and relax, and expect the train to take you to your destination. The spiritual path is like walking a road, and that road has many forks. Each fork represents a decision that only you can make.

The essence of the decision is whether you will continue to affirm an idea that springs from the mind of anti-christ or whether you will finally see through that lie and denounce it by accepting the truth of Christ that replaces the lie and thereby makes you free. Yet that path is not automatic; it is a path that you must walk consciously and willingly. You must be willing to endure the discomfort of challenging the beliefs with which you are comfortable. And you must be willing to deal with the challenge of constantly being alert, as you are exposed to some of the multitude of dualistic ideas that are constantly bombarding anyone who lives on this planet.

You need to be aware that, as a spiritual seeker, you will be challenged and tempted by ideas that spring from the consciousness of anti-christ. In many cases this temptation will be presented by other people. And as I said earlier, do not expect that these tempters will appear with two horns and hoofed feet. Instead, you should expect that they will appear in a disguise. These are the false prophets, the wolves in sheep’s clothing, and many of them will appear in the disguise of spiritual teachers or those who claim to be advanced students. They will say they have walked the path and are beyond you, and therefore they can tell you how you should walk your path.

I am not hereby saying that you should never listen to advice from anyone. Obviously, you can always benefit from those who are ahead of you on the path. However, what I am saying is that you need to be alert to any situation where someone is trying to tempt or manipulate you into ignoring, doubting or overriding your inner direction.

Beware the false teachers

There are true teachers and there are false teachers. The true teachers will seek to help you establish a clear contact with your Christ self, so that you can get answers from within. The false teachers will always seek to insert themselves between you and your Christ self. They will use many different lies to do this, and you need to learn how to recognize them.

Some of the more obvious lies are found in the major religions of the world, including the Catholic Church. They claim that you cannot know truth on your own, but that truth can be known only through the scriptures and the doctrines of the Church. This is an obvious ploy that all mature spiritual seekers have seen through lifetimes ago, and that is indeed why they are on the spiritual path instead of sitting in their Catholic churches passively receiving from the pulpit. Yet there are many ploys that are far more subtle, and they come in many enticing disguises.

If you will spend some time meditating on this and seeking direction from your Christ self by using the tools I give on this website, including the rosaries of Mother Mary and Archangel Michael, you can quickly learn to recognize the lies. The tempter always comes to take you away from your inner sense of oneness. You can see an example of this by studying how I was tempted after my stay in the wilderness. This situation was really a symbol of what happens when you walk the spiritual path.

Sometimes, in order to make progress on the path, you need to withdraw yourself from the world, not necessarily in a physical manner, but you withdraw from the consciousness of this world, the activities of this world and the beliefs of this world. You come apart from the consciousness of duality, so that you can be undisturbed and go within to establish a connection with your Christ self.

Yet when you have established that connection, you come back into the world, and you must anticipate that the consciousness of this world, the prince of this world, will be right there to tempt you away from the oneness you attained while you were apart. Therefore, the prince of this world will come to see if he has something in you, whereby he can tempt you into a dualistic reaction that takes you away from oneness.

Why does God allow you to be tempted?

You may think that God should have taken the Serpent away from this world so that you were not tempted. However, that would be a violation of the Law of Free Will. God gave you free will, and you have the right to choose what you will believe and what you will allow to exist in your world. Human beings chose to believe in the serpentine lies, and therefore it is human beings who allow the Serpent and his representatives to remain on Earth.

God can remove the serpents at any time, because truly Archangel Michael has the power to consume the Serpent with the fire that consumes all unlike itself. Yet until a critical mass of people separate themselves from the consciousness of the Serpent, the law does not allow the Serpent to be removed.

In order to make progress on the spiritual path, you have to see through and replace the decisions that caused you to move away from oneness. Therefore, the law allows the Serpent to tempt you. When you take a step closer to oneness, it is allowed that the forces of this world tempt you with the decisions that caused you to move away from oneness. You must be confronted with those decisions, so that you have the opportunity to consciously put them behind you. Thereby, you permanently remove them from your being, so that they cannot pull you down any more.

In order to rise to Christhood, you must separate yourself from the consciousness of the Serpent. One might say that a wrong decision is like a stick of iron in your energy field, and the magnetic pull of the consciousness of this world is constantly pulling on that iron, thereby pulling on your mind and emotions. So only by throwing out that stick of iron will you be free from the magnetic pull.

My point here is that as you walk the path to Christhood, you will make things easier for yourself if you will make the effort to learn how to recognize the tempter. Truly, that tempter will come to you every time you take a step forward on the path and this is the way it will be as long as you are here on Earth. There will not come a time when you are no longer tempted. As long as you are in a physical body, you will be tempted, yet the higher you move on the path of personal Christhood, the easier it will be for you to see through the temptations and therefore walk right through them as if they never even existed. That is when the prince of this world comes to you, but he has nothing in you.

How to deal with the tempter

How do you deal with the temptation? You deal with it the same way I did when I was tempted by the devil. You rebuke the tempter and his temptation, you rebuke the false idea by affirming the truth. Take note that I rebuked the devil, I did not argue with him or reason with him. I simply stated the truth that refuted the devil’s temptation. I did not attempt to convince him that he was wrong because had I done so, I would have become involved in a dualistic argument that would have tied me to the consciousness of the devil.

You see, when the tempter presents you with a particular idea, it is not his primary purpose to make you accept that idea. His overall purpose is to tempt you into arguing about the idea, so that you are pulled into the dualistic state of consciousness. You are thereby tempted to engage in a dualistic argument, and the tempter does not care who is right or who ends up being convinced.

The tempter’s only goal is to keep you trapped in the consciousness of duality, and even if you think you have won the argument, you can still be trapped in that consciousness. Therefore, you might think you have won the battle, but you have lost the war. The tempter has won because he has managed to keep you trapped in the dualistic state of consciousness.

Yet take note that I was not silent in the face of the devil’s temptations. I rebuked the devil but I did so in a way that was non-attached. I stated the truth without arguing or reasoning. Also, take note that I cast the money changers out of the Temple, when they had entered the house of God and were parading their wares of false beliefs, false doctrines and dualistic ideas. Take note that I challenged the scribes and the Pharisees and anyone else who promoted dualistic ideas. This is the essence of the path to Christhood, namely that you do not remain passive in the face of evil.

From self-centered to God-centered

There are many people who consider themselves to be spiritual teachers or advanced spiritual students, yet they promote a path that is completely self-centered. They make it seem like all that matters is you and your personal growth. Yet truly, to walk the path of Christhood, you must come to the point, where you are no longer walking that path for your own sake. You are not walking the path to attain your own spiritual growth or to feel that you are somehow more advanced than others.

There must come a point where you walk the path only to serve others and thereby serve the cause of God, which is to set all people free from duality. The Christ is not a person who seeks his own spiritual growth. The Christ is a person who recognizes that all life is one, and therefore the Christ is here to awaken those who are spiritually dead. He seeks to awaken people to the true life of the Christ consciousness, as opposed to the death of the dualistic state of consciousness.

My point is that a Christed being cannot ignore evil and cannot remain passive in the face of evil. Yet the Christed being will not fight evil by engaging evil at its own level of consciousness. The Christed being stays above the dualistic consciousness, and therefore he or she brings the truth that will make people free.

Some people will reject that truth, and a Christed being accepts the fact that these people have their free will and therefore have the right to reject Christ truth. In the face of this rejection, a Christed being remains at peace, remains non-attached, and that non-attachment then becomes the judgment of the people who reject the living Christ.

My point for giving you this long discourse is to show you that you have two challenges on the path to Christhood. You must go through a phase, where you establish the connection to your Christ self, which is the only way to learn how to discern the difference between the ideas that are truly of Christ or ideas that only claim to be of Christ but in reality spring from the duality consciousness.

As you attain that inner recognition, you must dare to let your light shine before men and bring them the truth that can make them free—if they accept it. You never seek to force people into accepting truth. It is your role to present them with truth so that they have an alternative to the dualistic ideas of human “right” and human “wrong.” And once you have given them that truth, you leave it up to them whether they will accept or reject it. You allow them to judge themselves based on their acceptance or rejection of Christ truth.

Learn how to recognize the tempter

My point is that you must be constantly alert because whenever you interact with other human beings, you can anticipate that some people will become exponents for the consciousness of the tempter. This does not mean that you should judge these people as being evil or being of the devil. You simply recognize that a person is temporarily believing in a dualistic lie and is therefore – knowingly or unknowingly, willingly or unwillingly – becoming a tool for the tempter.

Because you know that the law allows the tempter to tempt you, you have no need to be angry with the other person. You do not judge the person in a negative way, yet neither do you enter into the consciousness that you have to convert the person or convince others of the errors of their ways. You should recognize that what you are dealing with is not the outer person who promotes the idea. When you look behind the surface, what you are dealing with is the tempter himself who is speaking through that person. Therefore, you deal with the outer person as if it was the tempter himself. You simply state truth and rebuke the error without becoming attached to convincing the other person of anything.

If you look at the world and the long history of how ideas have influenced humankind, you will see that most people have been enveloped in a struggle between two dualistic ideas and belief systems. This has caused numerous well-meaning people to spend lifetimes engaged in this dualistic struggle, thinking they were fighting for a good cause, while they were only serving the cause of the prince of this world. As long as people are trapped in this dualistic struggle, the devil is firmly in control of this planet.

What I desire to see it is that those who are the Christed beings on Earth will see through this dualistic struggle and decide to rise above it. How do you rise above it? By turning the other cheek, by not resisting evil but by stating Christ truth and rebuking evil without engaging it. To do this, you must remain true to the highest truth that you can currently grasp in your heart. You must never let any outer force, including your own ego, take you away from what you feel is true in your heart. I am not saying that what you feel in your heart is necessarily the highest possible truth. You should always be open to the fact that your Christ self can give you a higher truth at any moment. Yet what I am saying is that you should never let an outside force cause you to doubt or deny the truth you see in your heart.

The temptation of Eve

Take note of the inner meaning behind the story of how Eve was tempted by the Serpent in the garden of Eden. Eve had been told not to eat of the fruit of the knowledge and good and evil, which is truly a symbol for the consciousness of duality. She had been told by her spiritual teacher that if she ate of that fruit, she would surely die. How did the Serpent tempt Eve? He did so by inserting the element of doubt into her consciousness. He said, “Thou shalt not surely die.”

Eve believed this lie, and therefore she ate the forbidden fruit. Many people look at this story and say, “But the Serpent was right, Eve did not die.” Yet what these people do not understand is that the word “death” was used to mean spiritual death. Eve died in the sense that she lost her oneness with the spiritual teacher and with her I AM Presence, and that loss of oneness is truly spiritual death.

It is true that the soul can still continue to exist, at least for a time. Yet the immortal spiritual being created by God has now become a mortal human being, which must continue to reincarnate until it either runs out of opportunity or climbs back to the Christ consciousness, whereby it regains its true identity as a son or daughter of God.

The lesson of the story is that because Eve had blindly accepted a direction from outside herself, she had not fully internalized the lesson given by the teacher. She had accepted what the teacher said, but she saw it as coming from somewhere outside herself. Therefore, the outer authority of the teacher could be cast into doubt by another external authority that presented itself in a convincing manner.

My beloved, do you see why this website continually stresses the need to go within and make contact with the inner authority of your Christ self? If you receive a truth from inside yourself, that truth becomes internalized into your being, so that it will not be cast into doubt by an outer authority. No matter how an external authority will tempt you, you stand firm on the rock of Christ and can therefore withstand the winds of the tempter, as they attempt to blow down your house.

The role of a Christed being

Take note that no true teacher ever said that you have to be open to any idea presented to you. It is not the role of a Christed being to be tolerant of every idea. It is the role of a Christed being to discern between ideas that are of God and ideas that spring from the consciousness of anti-christ. The Christed being will then denounce the errors and the lies by stating the truth.

Likewise, it is not the role of a Christed being to tolerate any human being or any type of behavior. It is the role of the Christ not to judge by a dualistic standard but to challenge people’s incorrect beliefs or unloving behavior. And if people will not let go of those beliefs but continue in their ways, then the Christed being has a right to say that, “I simply do not have time to deal with you. It is my role to help those who are open to coming up higher in consciousness, so there is a limit to how much time I will spend on those who are not willing to challenge their egos, their erroneous beliefs.”

It is also the role of the Christ to defend those who are not yet firmly anchored on the path and who can therefore be manipulated by those with sophisticated intellects and impure intentions. The tempter is not a passive force. It is a very aggressive force, and it uses a form of aggressive mental suggestion to insert ideas into people’s minds, ideas that pull them into the consciousness of doubt. No truly spiritual community can survive without taking measures to defend itself from the onslaught of the prince of this world.

I would love to raise every human being on this planet to the level of the Christ consciousness. Yet I am a practical realist and I practice the art of the possible. Therefore, I focus my attention on those who are willing to walk the path because I know that if I raise up those who are closest to Christhood, they will form a magnet that will pull up the rest of humanity. If I instead went to those who are firmly trapped in duality and attempted to raise their consciousness, it would take much longer to change this planet. And as Mother Mary has attempted to explain, we simply do not have time to wait for those who will not change. We have to raise the consciousness of those who are willing to change and who are willing to do something to transform the negative energies that burden this planet by giving a rosary or other spiritual practices. I do not need those who will empty themselves, I need those who will allow themselves to be filled with light, so that they radiate that light and become miniature suns that will dispel the darkness covering the Earth.

There is a tendency for those who are the most loving people to also be the most passive people. Often, the people who have the most loving hearts, and therefore in some respects are closer to Christhood, are reluctant to speak out and challenge the lie and the error.

Yet, as I have attempted to explain, there comes a point where you cannot make further progress unless you start looking beyond your own comfortability and begin to work for the growth of others by bringing them the truth that will make them free. And yes, because there is so much error in this world, bringing the truth also means that you must be willing to challenge the lie wherever it appears. And if challenging the lie makes you uncomfortable, then you need to be willing to deal with that discomfort so that you can rise to a higher level of Christhood. The question is always that you must choose whom you will serve, the mind of Christ or the mind of anti-christ. You must choose to be or not to be. And as always, I say, “Choose life!”

To play the game, or not to play the game . . .

Do you want to play the never-ending game of duality or do you want to find the true spiritual path? If you want to escape the game, you need to learn how to see through the mind games played by those who are seeking to trap you into playing the game indefinitely.

Question from Kim: Jesus, in our previous discussion, we talked about the false hierarchy, namely beings in a lower realm that imitate the ascended masters and bring out teachings that appear to be genuine but are designed to trap people on the false path. You said that whenever you give us a new teaching or concept, the false hierarchy seeks to counteract it and pervert it so that it takes people off the path. I know that years ago, that would have sounded scary to me because it seems like there is no way out of this situation. I mean, if people can’t tell the difference between a false and a true teaching, it seems like they can’t protect themselves. And if they can’t protect themselves, how can they overcome their fear of the false hierarchy, which you said is an open door for the false teachers into people’s consciousness? It sounds like a catch-22, so what is the way out?

Answer from the ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

There is no way out—but there is a way in. It goes through the kingdom of God, which is within you. The way is to transcend, to rise above, the consciousness of the false hierarchy so that you make them obsolete in your being.

As I explained in our previous discussion, once we give people an outer teaching, a teaching expressed in words, that teaching has entered the realm of duality. You can compare this realm to a chessboard. Even people who don’t play chess should know that in a chess game both players have the same pieces with the same powers. Therefore, both players have an equal opportunity to win, meaning that there is no fail-safe system that will guarantee that you win a chess game. Any move you make can be counteracted by a move from your opponent—until someone is checkmate. Basically, the only thing that decides who wins a chess game is that one player makes a move which the other player does not counteract—not because he can’t but because he does not see far enough ahead.

So when we give people an outer teaching, that teaching allows people to make a move on the chessboard of life. When people find the spiritual path, they use a teaching to make a move, and their move is defined by their current understanding of the path—which is usually a mixture of true and false ideas. This is a natural reaction, and many people spend decades or even lifetimes playing this game without realizing that their moves are counteracted by their egos and the false hierarchy. As people grow on the path, they realize that there is an adversary (whatever they call it) and they seek to use a spiritual teaching to protect themselves from the adversary or outsmart the adversary. Some even go to the extreme of seeking to destroy the adversary.

The problem is that as long as you are defining your spiritual path in relation to an adversary, you are still playing the game of duality. This is where the analogy between the spiritual path and a chess game breaks down. In a chess game both players play by the same rules and there can be a winner. In the dualistic game, a sincere spiritual seeker is playing by a set of rules defined by his or her spiritual teaching, but the adversary does not respect any rules. Furthermore, the spiritual seeker can never win the game.

As an example, consider the strife between religions. One dualistic extreme causes people to think in terms of black and white, meaning that they think there can be only one true religion. So they engage in an effort to prove that their religion is the only true one by converting other people. Perhaps they even go to the extreme of trying to destroy other religions or undermine people’s faith in them.

From these people’s dualistic viewpoint, it seems as if they can win the game by proving that their religion is the only true one. Yet even if they managed to convert all other people to their religion, they still would not have won the game. They would simply have spent all their energy on a dualistic quest that is not in harmony with God’s law, and they would have been feeding that energy to their egos and the false hierarchy.

For the adversary, the object is not to win the game but to keep you playing. As long as you are playing the game, you are trapped in duality, and thereby you are feeding the spiritual energy you receive from your I AM Presence to the ego and the false hierarchy. This keeps them alive and possibly expands their power—which is their objective for luring you into playing the game.

Regardless of the seeming outcome of the game, they win and you lose. So what is your way out? There is only one way out, and that is to stop playing the game. You must transcend the game and make the adversary obsolete. That is why I told people not to resist evil and why I set the goal that you must reach a state of consciousness where the prince of this world comes and has nothing in you. You no longer have any attachments, illusions or expectations whereby the adversary can trap you into playing the game.

The problem that trips up many seekers is that they don’t understand the game. Therefore, they don’t understand that the aim of a true spiritual teaching is NOT to help you win but to get to the point where you are no longer playing the game. We of the ascended masters want to help you rise above – transcend – the game. Your ego and the false hierarchy want to keep you in the game.

Because people don’t understand this, they don’t see that we face a built-in obstacle in our efforts to free people. In order to help people, we must give them a teaching they can grasp. And when people are trapped in the duality consciousness, that means a teaching they can study with their outer minds. Yet an outer teaching cannot guarantee that you escape the game—in order to do that, you must go beyond the outer teaching. You must use the outer teaching as a stepping stone for entering the kingdom of God within you. You must discover the real path, the inner path, behind the outer path. And to follow the inner path, you must let go of the very mindset that you have used to walk the outer path.

When a person first finds the spiritual path, that person has certain desires, hopes, dreams and wishes. People rarely do something without having a motivation, so most people have a factor that motivates them to seek out and follow the path. At the deepest level, the motivation is that the life-stream feels unwhole and is longing back to oneness with its source. Yet the outer mind can have a number of more specific motives that relate to the self and often even worldly ambitions.

Initially, there is nothing wrong with this. You can only start at the level of consciousness where you are when you find the path, so whatever motivates you to follow the path is a valid motivation—but only at the beginning stages. As you rise higher on the path, you inevitably come to a dividing line. Actually, there are several such lines but I am here talking about the one where you need to go beyond the motivation that got you started on the path. You need to reach for a higher motivation, a motivation that does not spring from duality and (narrow) self-interest. You need to develop a motivation based on love—unselfish love. If you do not do this, your ego and the false hierarchy will use your spiritual teaching – even a teaching released by the ascended masters – to trap you into playing the game over and over again.

Let us look at a specific example. When most people find the spiritual path, they are dealing with the superiority/inferiority enigma. Some people have too little self-esteem and some have too much. Let us look at two common scenarios for how this can outplay itself:

  • People with too little self-esteem look to the spiritual path to compensate for their lack. They use a spiritual teaching to build their self-worth. A true teaching can help such people build self-worth but there does come a cut-off point. The crucial choice is whether the person will seek to overcome the consciousness of inferiority or whether the person will continue to use the outer teaching to compensate for the lack (without actually removing the cause of the lack). Many people have used an outer teaching or organization to build the sense that because they have done all of these outer things, they are so much better than they were before they found the path. Some get on a treadmill of constantly seeking to do more and more in order to compensate for the lack that is still gnawing at them. The likely outcome is that people eventually break under the strain and give up on the path, yet a few manage to keep up the striving indefinitely. Others decide that they have reached a plateau where they don’t need to go higher. They think they have made a deal with God, and because they have done and keep doing all these outer things, he simply has to save them.
  • People with too much self-esteem are looking to the spiritual path as a means to build their sense of superiority and have it recognized by others—especially by the leader of an organization or by the ascended masters. They enter an ongoing quest to do everything right and do more than others, and everything they do on the path is motivated by this goal. The crucial choice for these people is whether they will start looking at the deeper cause behind their need for superiority (To God all people have infinite value, so why do you need to feel better than others?) or whether they will use the outer teaching to continue to seek superiority, even by tearing other people down.

My point is, of course, that both of these reactions have the same weakness. The positive side is that either motivation can get people to study the spiritual path and apply valid spiritual techniques. As long as they do this, there is the possibility that they will have a breakthrough and achieve a higher understanding of the path. However, if people do not transcend either motivation, there is – from the very beginning – a limit to how far they can progress on the path. Obviously, both motivations are self-centered—in fact, ego-centered. They are based on duality because it is only the duality consciousness that can make you think your are better or worse than other people. So if you keep following the path while being driven by a dualistic motive, isn’t it obvious that your ego and the false hierarchy can keep you trapped – indefinitely – in the dualistic game? Despite all your striving on the path, you are actually feeding your ego and using an outer teaching to reinforce its hold over you.

Do you follow what I am saying?

Kim: I do, but I also realize that 15 or 20 years ago, I would not have understood what you just said. So I can see that there is a stage on the path where we simply are not ready for the inner path.

Jesus: Right, and so what caused you to discover the inner path and start following it?

Kim: Well, I think it was that I gradually started understanding the value of surrender. I realized that because we have free will, God will not force us to enter Heaven. We must choose to go in, but we can’t make that choice as long as we are attached to anything on Earth. So I started realizing that I had to surrender everything on Earth in order to inherit the kingdom of God. And I decided – perhaps realized – that I wanted God’s kingdom more than anything that is available on this planet.

Jesus: And unless you have made that decision – for it is a decision – you have not entered the inner path. You are still stuck on the outer path, and you are using your spiritual teaching as a means to get what you think you need in order to buy your way into whatever paradise you conceive. As I said, this is all you can do, given your state of consciousness.

You are right that when you are new on the path, you cannot discover the inner path. You have to follow the outer path until you start seeing beyond appearances and begin to glimpse a deeper reality, a deeper understanding. Here are the crucial realizations that will empower a student to go beyond the outer path:

  • The fundamental realization is that the real goal of the path is that you change your consciousness, that you transcend your old state of consciousness and put on a higher state of consciousness. Many spiritual seekers have not understood this, and they still think the spiritual path is some kind of performance race, just like a sporting competition or a career. They are using a spiritual teaching to increase their outer skills, even their intellectual understanding of the path, so they can please God, defeat the adversary, impress others or live up to some kind of standard defined in their own heads. They are seeking to use the path to justify or spiritualize their egos. Only when you become willing to truly change yourself, and surrender the ego, have you started on the inner path.
  • After you know the goal of the path, you begin to see that the world is enveloped in a state of consciousness that is opposed to your growth. You begin to see through the dualistic game and realize how futile it is. In the beginning, you see this in the lives of other people and in world events. You then start longing for something higher and you start thinking about how to escape the dualistic game (no matter what you call it).
  • We now come to the crucial point. Do you begin to see and admit that what you see outside yourself – the futility of the duality consciousness – is also present inside yourself? Do you begin to see the beam in your own eye? Are you willing to truly admit that the beam is there and that it has to be removed before your consciousness will change? Are you willing to truly confront – to own – the fact that YOU need to change—or will you decide that you can attain salvation by continuing to do outer things?

If we return to the two types of people I described above, we see that those who still have too little self-esteem are often afraid of looking at the beam in their own eyes. They fear that if they were to truly recognize the elements of darkness in their own beings, their self-esteem would be shattered and/or God or the ascended masters would want nothing to do with them. They often fall prey to the mutterings of the ego, which succeeds in making them believe that if they don’t see their shortcomings, God won’t see them either. So they keep doing the outer things, making themselves more attached to the outer path. The way out for these people is to realize that God is not concerned with how much darkness you have in your being. He is concerned about how much darkness you are willing to give up, to surrender. So by looking at the darkness and letting it go, you can free your being from its downward pull and this will build true Self-esteem.

The people who already have too much – false – sense of self-worth have long ago made the decision not to look at the beam in their own eyes. However, they have gone a step further and think they don’t need to look at it. They firmly believe that doing the outer things right will get them to Heaven without having to confront or give up their egos. In fact, many of them seriously believe that they can refine or even spiritualize the ego so that it becomes acceptable in the eyes of God and will be allowed in Heaven. They can spend lifetimes seeking to refine their egos according to a spiritual teaching, and they often don’t realize that it simply keeps them trapped in their own self-defined version of the dualistic game. So the crucial question is whether a spiritual teaching can manage to somehow jolt or inspire these people to abandon the attitude that they don’t need to overcome their egos.

The bottom line is that before you can start walking the inner path, you must recognize that you have an ego, which is born out of the sense of separation from God, and thus it can only think in terms of duality. The real goal of the spiritual path is to come back to a state of oneness with God. And in order to attain oneness, your ego – which is born of separation and must uphold the separation in order to stay alive – must die. This can only happen when you separate yourself from the ego and become one with a higher part of your being, namely your Christ self, your I AM Presence and the greater spiritual Being out of which you are an individualization. So you have to be willing to look at the ego, understand how it traps you with some dualistic line of reasoning and then consciously choose to let go of it. You must see it as NOT being part of the real you, and then allow it to die and be no more.

The crucial point here is your balance between love and fear. Do you love God more than the ego? Do you love something so much that you are willing to give up the ego – and anything in this world to which the ego is attached – in order to become one with what you love? Some people are so trapped in fear that they don’t have enough love to confront their egos. Some people actually love their egos more than God and thus see no need to give up the ego.

Kim: So how does the false hierarchy fit into the picture. I assume they are trying to give people teachings that will reinforce the belief that you don’t need to confront or let go of the ego? And what difference does it make whether you follow a teaching from the false hierarchy or a teaching from the ascended masters?

Jesus: The crucial question is not what type of teaching you follow but what you do with the teaching.

Specifically, the question is, “Are you transcending the outer teaching or turning the outer teaching into a box that confines your mind?” As I explained in previous discussions, even a teaching from the ascended masters cannot guarantee that people will discover and follow the inner path. So following a true teaching will not inevitably lead people to the ascension.

On the other hand, even a teaching from the false hierarchy contains some truth. So if people are willing to transcend the outer teaching, they can still make progress on the path. The Catholic Church contains many doctrines and subtle beliefs that came directly from the false hierarchy. Yet a few people have managed to use the remnants of my true teachings to go so far beyond the outer church that they still discovered the inner path and made major progress. Unfortunately, the majority of Catholics cannot do so and thus remain stuck in the game, stopped in their tracks by a set of false beliefs.

Obviously, the more pure the teaching, the greater the opportunity for discovering the inner path. Some people seem to think that the false hierarchy is unsophisticated or easy to expose. Yet as I explained earlier, the false hierarchy have set up a false duality. Some of them are in such a low state of consciousness that they are very primitive, and thus many spiritual seekers can easily expose teachings from this source. Yet some members of the false hierarchy have a very high understanding of the spiritual path, so they are very skilled at giving people a teaching that contains a high degree of truth, yet there is enough errors mixed in that it can fool many people.

In fact, only the Christ consciousness can unmask the more subtle lies of the false hierarchy. It is therefore crucial to seek Christ discernment rather than thinking you are smart enough to unmask the false hierarchy on your own or based on a set of outer criteria.

Kim: Wait, that is interesting, because I know many people who for decades have been following a genuine teaching from the Ascended Masters. They know the existence of the false hierarchy, and they think that based on their teaching, they have a set of criteria for exposing the false hierarchy. In fact, some of them use that teaching to label me as a false messenger and you as a false hierarchy impostor of the real Jesus. How would you respond to that?

Jesus: I wouldn’t respond at all because obviously such people would never read what I say. Or if they read it, they would not seriously consider it, but would only look to find fault with some detail so they can reject the whole thing.

The simple fact is, as I said above, that any teaching or tool we give people can be counteracted by the false hierarchy. There is nothing in the realm of duality that cannot be counteracted by the false hierarchy, so the only way out is that you base your spiritual path on one simple fact: The driving force behind spiritual growth is self-transcendence, and the need to self-transcend never stops as long as you are on Earth.

This applies to an outer teaching as well. When we give an outer teaching, the false hierarchy can also read that teaching. So they can find ways to neutralize it. One way is to get people to turn the outer teaching into a closed box that prevents people from seeing that the ascended masters have moved on. As I said before, if you are so afraid of the false hierarchy that you do not dare to look beyond a certain teaching – that you do not dare to follow the promptings of your Christ self – then the false hierarchy has become your God. You are no longer following the ascended masters – for we are constantly moving on and forever self-transcending – you are following the false hierarchy who tells you to stay where you feel safe.

The crucial point here is that when you find a true spiritual teaching, your ego and the false hierarchy are very concerned because they might lose control over you. Yet they know that it is easy to get people to become comfortable in the new teaching, and this gives them a second chance to trap you. My point is that no outer teaching will ever be enough to guarantee that you are free from the false hierarchy. The only way to escape them is to continue to self-transcend, to continue to go beyond any other teaching and seek oneness with your Christ self and the ascended masters.

Even this teaching – and this entire website – cannot guarantee that you are invulnerable. Yet because this website and Mother Mary’s section talk about the need to become more, you do have an outer teaching that can raise you above the false hierarchy. They will be able to counteract the outer teaching, but they will not be able to trap you if you keep using the outer teaching as a springboard for self-transcendence. And in this new dispensation, we do talk about these things more openly and directly than we have done in any of the previous dispensations, which means that those who are willing to heed the teachings can go further. Yet don’t let your ego turn this statement into a sense of subtle pride or superiority.

Kim: You say that the false hierarchy can counteract any criteria we define for exposing them. Yet isn’t it valid to use some kind of criteria to evaluate a spiritual teaching and see what might be false?

Jesus: Yes and no. You can set up certain outer criteria, but as soon as you define them, the false hierarchy will know them and thus they can create a new teaching that seeks to neutralize them. I am not saying that it isn’t valid to use your mind to sharpen your discernment, but you must always strive to have discernment from your Christ self rather than relying on outer criteria that are so easily affected by the analytical mind.

Once again, you have to do the best you can, given your level of consciousness. Many new students should seek to protect themselves from the false hierarchy but should not seek to understand their mindset. As you mature on the path, you need to understand how the ego and the false hierarchy seek to trap you in the game. You will then use your current understanding of the path to evaluate a teaching, and obviously this must be based on what you know. Yet as you come to the higher levels of the path, you need to go beyond outer criteria.

What often happens is that a person adopts a set of outer criteria for evaluating a teaching and then considers them complete, perhaps even infallible or beyond questioning. The person will then cling to these criteria even after he or she should have gone beyond them. For example, some people adopt the idea that an ascended master would never say this or that or would always speak in a certain way. They have put us in a box, but they have truly put themselves in a box. This is the excuse used by so many of the students in organizations we have sponsored in the past. They have used it to reject our continued revelation in another organization.

My advice therefore is to never adopt an infallible rule but to only adopt general guidelines. Don’t let the means you use to protect yourself become an impenetrable wall that imprisons you. The simple fact is that if you encase your mind in an impenetrable wall, the false hierarchy can’t reach you but neither can the ascended masters. Yet your ego is inside any wall you create, so it can still affect you. Therefore, you must see any criteria as a springboard for sharpening your discernment, not as an excuse to stop discerning.

One of the greatest problems we face as spiritual teachers is that so many students are not willing to continue their striving for growth. They strive for a while, but then feel they have found the holy grail, and now they don’t need to strive any more. They become comfortable and refuse to rise above their current level, which means we must leave them behind—and guess who is ready to reinforce their sense that they don’t need to rise higher.

The simple fact is that self-transcendence never stops, and this means that you must constantly be vigilant. Many people are not willing to keep up this alertness—we might say they are trapped in a form of spiritual laziness. Unfortunately, there is no surefire cure for this disease.

The ultimate way to expose a false teaching is not through some outer criteria but through the inner criteria of reading the vibration of the teaching and its source. Your Christ self knows the vibrational patterns of the ascended masters and can therefore easily expose a false hierarchy impostor as being of a lower vibration. So only by seeking oneness with your Christ self can you gain ultimate discernment. The false hierarchy can easily change their appearances and adapt to your outer criteria. But they cannot change their vibrational pattern, and thus cannot hide from the X-ray vision of your Christ self.

Kim: It almost sounds to me like you are not that concerned about whether someone follows a false teaching?

Jesus: I am not concerned that someone follows a false teaching—I am only concerned if someone keeps following a false teaching. The ascended masters have a saying that sheds light on this, “When the student is ready, the teacher appears!”

The simple fact is that whatever teaching you find, there is a reason you were attracted to that teaching. The reason is that the teaching resonates with your current level of consciousness, and thus you have something to learn from that teaching.

For a new student, it is tempting to assume that the teaching you have found is the ultimate teaching, that it is absolutely true and that it can teach you everything you need to know in order to be saved. Yet the more experienced student needs to let go of this belief. Instead, you need to adopt the attitude that any outer teaching is meant to teach you something that will help you transcend your current level of consciousness. And in some cases the lesson might be very different from what your outer mind assumes.

For example, there are many of today’s spiritual seekers who have started their path by finding a false teaching. The reason is that you needed to learn something from that teaching that would sharpen your discernment and help you see through the false hierarchy and their methods. In other words, the lesson you need to learn from a given teaching is not necessarily how to walk the path—it might be how NOT to walk the path. Yet this is still an invaluable lesson.

The problem is, of course, if people do not realize they need to learn this lesson and instead cling to the outer teaching, allowing their egos to make them feel comfortable. Yet even this is a natural consequence of people’s state of consciousness. They might have to stay in that illusion of comfortability for a while before they are finally shaken out of it.

Another way to interpret the statement that when you are ready, the teacher appears is that you are always ready for a teacher. The question is whether you can recognize that teacher and whether you are willing to follow him. The goal of the path is self-transcendence, so at any level you are confronted with two teachers. The false teacher is the one who corresponds to your current level of consciousness, and he will seek to make you stay at that level. The true teacher is the one who corresponds to the next higher level of consciousness, and he is the one who can take you to the next level. The question is whether you will cling to the one with whom you are comfortable or whether you will follow the other teacher into the unknown. This depends on your commitment to perpetual self-transcendence.

Take note that when you do rise to a higher level, you will be confronted with a new set of teachers. The true teacher who brought you to that level will now be replaced by another true teacher who can take you higher. Likewise, the old false teacher will be replaced by a new one, seeking to keep you trapped at your new level. If you seek to cling to the old true teacher, you will simply tie yourself to the new false teacher—who is an impostor of the old true teacher.

Obviously, the more mature student should always be on the lookout for the next teacher and should always be willing to follow that teacher as soon as he appears. That is the ultimate – and only – way to avoid being trapped by the false hierarchy. As I said, there comes a point on the path where you have to confront the false hierarchy. Only by confronting them can you learn to see through them and thus rise above them. Studying a false teaching may be a necessary step in this process. The trick is to always look for the hidden lesson and to never stay in a false teaching a moment longer than necessary.

Kim: That makes sense to me because I have met many people who were introduced to the spiritual path by a teaching I consider false. Yet many of them have still grown from it and have now moved on to better things. So it really isn’t a disaster if you have followed a false teaching, as long as you have learned from it?

Jesus:  That is true. It does not matter what you have been into. What matters is what you have been willing to transcend. It is generally better to make a mistake and learn from it than to stand still and do nothing at all. That is why being afraid of the false hierarchy gives them a sure way to keep you trapped. As soon as you stop moving, they will start building a wall around you. Yet if you continue to jump over the wall before it gets too tall, they will have a hard time keeping up with you.

How to avoid the false teachers

One of the major initiations on the spiritual path is that you are willing to recognize that there are forces inside of you – your ego – and forces outside of you – the false hierarchy of anti-christ – that oppose your progress on the path. This discussion talks about how to avoid being trapped by the false hierarchy that is deliberately seeking to keep you stuck at a certain level of the path, preventing you from taking the very next step.

Kim: Jesus, in a previous discussion, you said the following:

“At an even deeper level, it is a fact that when most people find the spiritual path, they are still partly in the duality consciousness. Thus, they will inevitably be in a state of consciousness that attracts the dualistic opposites.

Even if you find a teaching that is truly from the ascended masters, your ego will still use your dualistic beliefs to distort your view of that teaching. As you become more familiar with the teaching, your ego is also educated in the concepts and lingo used by the teaching. Thus, your ego and any external false teachers can actually use a true teaching to slow down your growth by causing you to close your mind. The only way to avoid this is to constantly be open to being disturbed by your Christ self and the ascended masters, which means that you are willing to let a new idea take you beyond your comfortable beliefs. If you are not willing to be disturbed, you will turn even a true teaching into a mental prison.

When you come up higher on the path, you can completely transcend the level of duality, and thus false teachers and false teachings will no longer be a threat to you.“

I sense that here is an important teaching here that is relevant to our discussion about the psychology of anti-christ. Could you elaborate on how our state of consciousness attracts the dualistic opposites?

A message from the ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

Let me briefly summarize some of the points from our previous discussions that have a bearing on this. The central problem on earth is that people have become trapped in the duality consciousness. In this state of mind they cannot see the one, absolute truth of Christ—the Spirit of Truth. Instead, they see only a relative “truth.” This truth is relative because it is defined in relation to two dualistic extremes, such as good and evil. In the Christ mind, there is an absolute definition of good (what is in harmony with God’s laws) and an absolute definition of evil (what is out of harmony with God’s laws).

In the dualistic state of mind, there are only relative definitions of good and evil, meaning that neither good nor evil are defined based on God’s law. They are defined in relation to each other, but what is called good is not absolute good because it too springs from the consciousness of duality. Thus, people can define good as that which suits their purposes and evil as that which opposes them, which is what you have seen in many cultures and still see today. My point being that what people call good might not be good in an absolute sense. It is a relative definition of good that is not based on Christ truth.

The problem we face as spiritual teachers is that we need to awaken people from the dualistic state of mind, which is truly spiritual death because people have no life in them—they do not have the life of the Christ mind. From a surface viewpoint, this might seem like a simple task. After all, why not simply give people a spiritual truth or a religious doctrine that defines what is true in an absolute sense. The reality is, however, that it is not possible to express absolute truth in words. When you translate a spiritual teaching into words, you bring that teaching into the realm of duality, and thus people can argue for or against that teaching indefinitely. They might feel they are very knowledgeable and pious – as did the scribes and Pharisees – but in reality they are no closer to escaping duality.

To help people overcome duality, we must inspire people to go beyond the outer teachings and rituals and use the key of knowledge to enter the kingdom within them—in which they can encounter and experience the Spirit of Truth. Only through this direct inner experience – often called a mystical, spiritual or “Aha” experience – will people take a step out of the duality consciousness. When people have such an experience, they receive a morsel of the body and blood – the consciousness – of Christ, and it becomes a leaven that can raise their consciousness to a new level.

Do you see my point? It simply isn’t possible to formulate a spiritual teaching that will automatically raise people out of the duality consciousness and into the Christ consciousness. This spiritual transformation is not a mechanical process; it is a creative process. We can give people spiritual teachings and tools, but unless people multiply what we give them by reaching for the Spirit of Truth behind the outer offering, they will not grow in personal Christhood.

The main ally we have is that people can never fully forget their spiritual origin. They will always have a subtle inner sense that there is something more to life, and it will make it impossible for them to be fully satisfied by the things of this world. By stimulating this inner longing, we can often awaken people to the spiritual path. In ages past, you will see that many people were not aware of the spiritual side of life, spending all their attention on physical survival. In today’s world, you do see the beginning of a spiritual awakening, but making people aware of the spiritual path is only part of the task we face. We also have to make sure they follow the true path and not the path that seemeth right unto a man, but the ends thereof are the ways of death (Proverbs 14:12).

As I said in the previous discussions, we form a hierarchy of light that is dedicated to setting all people free from the duality consciousness. However, there is a hierarchy of darkness, a false hierarchy, that is dedicated to keeping people trapped in the mind of anti-christ. Their main weapon is the relativity of the duality consciousness.

The main characteristic of the mind of anti-christ is that it forms a graven image of what it thinks reality is like, and then it projects that upon reality. When we transfer this to the field of religion, or spirituality, we can quickly see the essential problem. The ascended masters will seek to awaken people by giving them a spiritual teaching. The purpose of this teaching is to help people rise above the duality consciousness. Therefore, the teaching contains certain elements that are aimed at neutralizing the outer mind. Yet if people are completely identified with the human ego, they will not be able to find these keys and use them to reach beyond duality. Instead, they will formulate a mental image of what they think the religion is all about and then project that upon the spiritual teaching.

This is precisely what has happened to every major and most minor religions. The followers used their mental images to change the outer religion, and often its teachings, to conform to their dualistic beliefs. They were not willing to multiply the talents they were given but buried them in the ground of the ego. This often causes them to create the image of an automatic or guaranteed salvation, meaning that by being a follower of the outer religion, they will inevitably be saved. I addressed this mindset when I said, “For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:20).

Today, you see many Christians who believe that if they declare me as their Lord and Savior, they will automatically be saved. You see many New Age people who believe that as long as they follow a certain teaching or practice, they will make their ascensions. In reality, the only true road to salvation is to attain the Christ consciousness and this will not happen by mechanically following an outer religion. It is an inner process that involves transforming your entire state of consciousness.

In today’s world, communications technology has made it easier than ever for people to find a teaching about the spiritual side of life. They can find many teachings that talk about a genuine path to spiritual growth. They can even find this website which talks about the path to Christhood in a more direct and straightforward manner than any other teaching on this planet. The result is that it has become much more difficult for the false hierarchy to prevent people from finding the spiritual path. Therefore, they are now focusing on trying to get people to follow the false path instead of the true path.

In practical terms, this means that we of the ascended masters will always seek to help people transcend duality. Therefore, we will tell them what they need to hear, not what their egos want to hear. We practice tough love and we are always seeking to challenge people’s existing beliefs. It is only by challenging people’s dualistic beliefs that we have hope of helping them rise above the consciousness of duality. We are therefore constantly seeking to challenge people’s mental images, their idols, about the spiritual path. We are seeking to challenge the dualistic beliefs with which people are comfortable because they do not challenge their egos.

On the other hand, the false hierarchy wants people to remain trapped in duality. So they seek to reinforce people’s dualistic beliefs by telling them exactly what their egos want to hear. Obviously, the more people identify with their egos, the more reluctant they are to challenge their comfortable beliefs. Therefore, they are more likely to listen to the false hierarchy – who tells them they don’t need to change – than to the true hierarchy who is telling them they need to change everything.

My point here is that when people are trapped in duality, they can always use a relative line of reasoning to impose an interpretation upon a true spiritual teaching, an interpretation that makes it seem like they don’t really have to change themselves or challenge their egos. For example, many people are extremely comfortable with their membership of an outer religion, be it a mainstream Christian church or a New Age organization. They literally believe they have it all figured out and that if only they keep doing what they are doing, God simply has to save them.

If we are to help such people, we must first shake them out of their sense of comfortability. If they ar not willing to leave their comfort zones, we often can do nothing, and people will instead follow the blind leaders of the hierarchy of anti-christ.

Kim: That is very clear to me, but what exactly do you mean with the words, “a state of consciousness that attracts the dualistic opposites?”

Jesus: As I said in the previous discussions, the mind of anti-christ has a fundamental duality, meaning that it always sees everything in relation to two opposites, such as good and evil. As long as people are trapped in the duality consciousness, they will attract to themselves situations in which it seems as if the only option they have is to choose between two extremes. Yet both of these extremes are defined by the mind of anti-christ, meaning that no matter which extreme they choose, they will only become more trapped in duality.

To give you a historical example of this, take the crusades. One aspect of the duality consciousness is that it thinks in terms of black and white, meaning that if one religion is true, then all religions that are different must be false. So we had members of Christianity and Islam who each believed that theirs was the only true religion. They also believed in the lie – promoted by the forces of anti-christ through their willing representatives in embodiment – that it was justified in the eyes of God to kill nonbelievers.

So it seemed to people that they had to choose between going to hell or going to war. Or it seemed that by going to war they were doing God’s work and coming closer to heaven. In reality, they were only sinking deeper into the duality consciousness and thus removing themselves further from the Christ consciousness that is the open door which no man – meaning the dualistic state of mind – can shut.

My point is that the false hierarchy of anti-christ has created innumerable versions of this artificial conflict between two opposites, and they are constantly seeking to draw people into such a battle. They do this in any way they can think of, and that is why I said, “But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also” (Matthew 5:39). It is only by refusing to engage in this eternal, dualistic struggle – by turning the other cheek no matter what other people do to you – that you can avoid being caught in the trap set by the false hierarchy.

In reality, and I know this will be difficult to accept for many sincere spiritual seekers, the false hierarchy can use even a true spiritual teaching to create such dualistic opposites. You have to realize that the duality consciousness will always present the spiritual student with a dilemma. At any level of the spiritual path, you will face two extremes that are created by the duality of anti-christ. The inexperienced student will invariably choose one extreme and think he is doing the right thing. Yet the mature student sees through this plot and therefore chooses the golden middle way by always seeking to transcend the duality of any situation. It is only through this self-transcendence that you grow in Christhood. Otherwise, you only stay in the dualistic struggle, which can go on indefinitely.

Kim: You also said, “Even if you find a teaching that is truly from the ascended masters, your ego will still use your dualistic beliefs to distort your view of that teaching.” You already explained how our egos project dualistic images upon a true teaching, but I would like to take this in a different direction. I know many people who for decades have followed a teaching that was given by the ascended masters. Yet they are afraid to look at this website or many other teachings besides their chosen religion because they fear they could be fooled by the false hierarchy. Likewise, many Christians find this website and think it is of the devil or a false Christ.
Obviously, based on what you have said, it is legitimate to be concerned about the false hierarchy. Yet you also seem to say that as long as we stay in the consciousness of fear, we will attract what we fear. I mean, fear is not found in the Christ mind, so it must be part of duality. So if you fear something, it seems like you will attract to you what you fear, is that correct?

Jesus: Certainly. As I have said many times, the universe is a mirror. If you send out fear, the universe will return to you what you fear. This is not actually as ominous as it might sound. The universe is set up to help you become free. Fear keeps you trapped in duality. All fear is based on an illusion; it is a fear of the unknown, meaning what is partially understood. You fear something because you have not taken a closer look at it, whereby you would have seen that it was nothing but a dualistic illusion with no reality in God. So how can you overcome this illusion? Only by being confronted with what you fear, so that you can no longer ignore it. The universe returns to you what you fear so that you can overcome the fear and be free. The only way to overcome fear is to confront it with the mind of Christ.

My point is that there is a fundamental difference between being aware of the false hierarchy and actually fearing the false hierarchy. Some New Age people advocate the idea that people should ignore anything negative in order to avoid giving it power. Yet a tumor will keep growing even if you ignore it, so a spiritual seeker cannot afford to ignore the existence of the false hierarchy. You must be aware of it as you are aware of bacteria that can give you disease. In reality, it is only when you fear something that you give it power. When you are aware that something exists without feeling fear, you do not give it power—you simply separate yourself from it. Thereby, you empower yourself to stay free of the darkness and you can also help free other people, which is how the planet progresses.

I am well aware that many members of the organizations that we have previously sponsored are afraid to look at any progressive revelation we have brought forth after we stopped speaking through their organization. This is comparable to fundamentalist Christians who say I could not bring forth anything beyond what is said in the Bible. It is exactly the same mindset, although many New Age people refuse to see this and feel that they are far more open-mined and advanced than fundamentalists.

Now, there is a point on the path, where it is prudent to be cautious. You do not let small children play on the street because they are not mature enough to keep an eye out for cars. Yet as the children grow, you have to let them out because keeping them locked up inside the house would hamper their natural growth. So it is with your mind. When you are new to the path, it is best to find a reliable teaching and to focus on it for a while. Yet remember what I said earlier. The purpose of a true teaching is to increase your Christ discernment. When you multiply your talents, you will become better at telling the difference between the truth of Christ and a dualistic lie. Therefore, you no longer need to fear the false hierarchy, and thus you don’t need to confine your studies to any one teaching.

It is sad to see people who have been following a true teaching for decades and who are still afraid to exercise their Christ discernment. You cannot develop discernment in a sterile environment. It must be done through hands-on – or rather minds-on– experience. What I am saying is that as you mature, you are no longer so concerned about the false hierarchy and you are not afraid to seek truth wherever it can be found. For example, you are not afraid to read a book that might contain some error because you can separate the chaff from the wheat. A person with full Christhood can read The Satanic Bible and still find some truth. Obviously, you can find the same truth elsewhere, so there is no real reason to read The Satanic Bible, I am simply giving an extreme example.

Let us now take this to the next level. If you fear the false hierarchy, your fear becomes an open door whereby the false hierarchy can influence you and thereby control your path. As I said, when people find the path, they are still partly in the duality consciousness, and as long as you have dualistic beliefs, the false hierarchy can use them to take you in the wrong direction. The more fear you have in your consciousness, the easier they can control you. The problem here is that fear makes you reluctant to take a look at your dualistic beliefs, which means that you cannot free yourself from those beliefs.

Let me make this more practical. When a person finds a genuine spiritual teaching, and perhaps joins an organization, it does not mean that the person is home free. As long as you are in embodiment, the prince of this world – the false hierarchy of anti-christ – will follow you every step of your path. The blind leaders will seek to take you off the true path and get you to follow the path that seemeth right unto a man. Now, you will also be followed by the true hierarchy and by your Christ self. So we might say that every step on the spiritual path represents a decision that you must make. And for every decision, you will have two voices inside your head seeking to influence your decision. The true voice, the still small voice, will seek to help you overcome duality and transcend yourself. The false voice, often a very loud or manipulative voice, will seek to coerce or fool you into staying in the duality consciousness by making you afraid to transcend your current beliefs or so proud that you think you know everything.

My point is that as long as you are afraid to look at something or as long as you are attached to your current beliefs, you will make yourself vulnerable to the false hierarchy. You will literally magnetize these forces to you. Take note of what is quoted above, “Your ego and any external false teachers can actually use a true teaching to slow down your growth by causing you to close your mind.”

My point here is that many students have found a genuine teaching that was released by the ascended masters. Yet through their fear, attachments or pride, the false hierarchy has managed to use the outer teaching to make people feel that they don’t need to change beyond a certain point. People now feel very comfortable, often feeling that they are the most sophisticated students on the planet or feeling sure they have everything they need to make their ascensions. Yet in reality, the true teaching has now been turned into a false path that only traps them even more firmly in duality. The only way to avoid or escape this scenario is to maintain your willingness to self-correct, to self-transcend. You have to “be open to being disturbed by your Christ self and the ascended masters, which means that you are willing to let a new idea take you beyond your comfortable beliefs.”

You have to be alert to the fact that as you follow the spiritual path, you are not simply educating yourself, you are also educating your ego. Your ego learns the words and concepts used in a specific spiritual teaching, and it quickly finds out how to use them to maintain or even expand its control over you. That is why you can never stand still. You have to keep moving faster than your ego or you will inevitably start sliding backwards. If you become comfortable at a certain level, your ego will quickly use this opportunity to get you to stop at that level.

You always need to remember that the path is an ongoing process. The moment you stop moving, you are no longer on the true path. You are on the path that seems right to the ego. Remember the motto, “From this point, forward—always forward!”

Kim: What do you mean by saying, “When you come up higher on the path, you can completely transcend the level of duality, and thus false teachers and false teachings will no longer be a threat to you.”

Jesus: As I said, the false teachers will follow you every step of the way. They will be with you as long as you are in embodiment—at least until they are removed from the Earth. Yet as I describe in the Bible, there can come a point where they are no longer a threat to you, “For the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me” (John 14:30). This does not fully happen until you are free of all dualistic beliefs. Yet you can make this threat much less significant by entering into the state of mind in which you are always willing to self-correct and self-transcend. You have decided that you will not let anything – from within or without – prevent you from taking the next step on the path.

Remember that the true hierarchy is always seeking to help you grow, to take the next step. The false hierarchy is always seeking to stop your growth by preventing you from taking the next step. So as long as you are always willing to take another step, the false hierarchy has little power over you. It is your attachments that give them power over you and magnetize them to you. Whenever you start to feel comfortable or attached to anything – including a spiritual teaching, organization or practice – thinking that you don’t have to go beyond it, at that moment the false hierarchy will have gained power over you and they will use it mercilessly to keep you at that level of the path.

Believe me, we have seen this happen numerous times to our students. We give them a dispensation of light, a grace, so that they can discover a true spiritual teaching. Yet although the outer teaching is necessary for growth, the outer teaching is not the key to growth. The real key is to multiply what you have been given by using the outer teaching as a stepping stone for establishing direct contact with your Christ self.
So we always hope that our students will come to understand this principle and thus multiply their talents instead of burying them in the ground. Unfortunately, a large percentage of our students quickly begin to feel that now that they are members of this or that organization, they have found the ultimate. So they just need to believe in the organization’s teachings and follow its practices, and they will automatically qualify for salvation or their ascension or whatever the organization defines as the goal.

The moment you begin to feel this way, the moment you close your mind to the possibility of self-transcendence, you are no longer a student of the ascended masters. You have now made yourself a student of the false hierarchy. You might still be proudly referring to a teaching that was given by the ascended masters, but you have perverted that teaching into something that seems right unto you but has nothing to do with the truth we released.

Kim: So you are actually saying that as long as we are reluctant to grow, we can follow a true teaching and still be the blind followers of the blind leaders because we listen to the wrong voices inside our heads?

Jesus: Correct. There is no automatic path to salvation. That is why you can never allow yourself to confine your path to one particular teaching or organization. You have to be open to your inner teacher and be willing to go wherever you are directed to go, even if it means leaving behind a teaching or organization with which you have become comfortable. In many cases, it is exactly the comfortability that makes it necessary for the student to leave the old teaching and find a new one that is more challenging for the mind.

This is where many students get stuck. They often feel they have followed an organization for so long that they have finally created a secure position for themselves. And they are not willing to leave their nets and follow the Living Christ when he appears to them in disguise. They are like the rich man who would not sell his possessions in order to follow me (Luke 18:22). What could I do for that person? I could do nothing and had to leave him behind. Likewise, the ascended masters have had to leave behind many former students who found our teachings and started applying them with great hope. Yet because they were not willing to truly let go of some aspect of the ego, they used a dualistic line of reasoning to convince themselves – and often other people – that they do not need to grow beyond a certain point.

Although we love our students, we do not have a possessive love. So we will leave students behind if they lose their willingness to take the next step. We are constantly moving higher on the path of life, and if you are not willing to follow along with us, you will be left behind until you decide that you are willing to leave your comfort zone. It has been said that discouragement is the sharpest tool in the devil’s toolkit. In reality, comfortability is a far more dangerous tool because it is so often based on spiritual or intellectual pride—spiritual blindness.

The most dangerous form of ignorance is not that you know nothing, because people who know nothing are often willing to learn. The most dangerous form of ignorance is thinking that you already know everything you need to know, for such people are not willing to learn.

When a person is using the relativity of the mind of anti-christ, the person can always construct a mental image that gives the perfect justification for not taking that next step, for not confronting the next aspect of the ego. Such a person can feel absolutely certain that he or she is an advanced student of the ascended masters. In reality, the person is a student of the false hierarchy, a blind follower of the blind leaders, and both of them are headed for the ditch.

Kim: In a previous discussion you said that the false teachers are good at portraying themselves as very spiritual. So I assume they might actually appear as genuine or benevolent spiritual teachers. I also assume there are non-material forces that appear to be genuine ascended masters?

Jesus: Correct. Life is not like the old Western movies where the hero always appeared in white clothes and the bad guy in black clothes. Whenever the ascended masters introduce a new spiritual concept to humankind, the false hierarchy will seek to counteract it by creating the false duality I talked about earlier.

For the last century we have given people the concept of ascended masters as the spiritual teachers of humankind. The false hierarchy has sought to counteract this by creating a false duality. On one side you have what most people would see as dark forces, namely demons and other forces that are clearly evil. On the other side the false hierarchy has set up a group of non-material beings, residing in the mental or emotional realms, that imitate the ascended masters. These false “masters” will appear to be exactly like us and they will use the same terminology. Yet they have two main goals.

One goal is to draw you into a dualistic struggle against the “dark forces.” So they will try to make you think that you are a servant of the light and you are here to fight the darkness, and as long as you are following their directives, you are doing just that. In reality you are simply trapped in the endless dualistic struggle between two opposing forces, none of which have the life of Christ in them. The other goal is to make you follow the false path that only makes you comfortable at a certain level of attainment but does not guide you on to eternal self-transcendence. Obviously, these two goals can be combined, and when people buy into them, they feel very convinced that they are doing the exact right thing and that they have to keep doing it for the rest of their lives.

Kim: I can understand why this can be confusing to many people and why they find it hard to tell the difference between a genuine spiritual teaching from the ascended masters and an imitation from the false hierarchy. Obviously, we need to have another discussion about this topic.

Why you can’t find common ground with some people

Have you ever encountered people with whom you cannot find a common ground? Have you ever felt like they have a hidden agenda or that they seem to have a different approach to the spiritual path even though they claim to be very spiritual people? Have you ever wondered why their arguments often seem contradictory to other people, yet they can’t see it themselves? And no matter what you say, it seems impossible to make them see beyond what they have decided is the only truth. Have you ever wondered if they are from a different planet?

Question from Kim: Jesus, in our last discussion on the mind of anti-christ, you said that the essence of the spiritual path is the willingness to self-correct. Obviously, in order to self-correct you have to be willing to see that you need to change, that there is something you don’t know, that you have made mistakes or that some of your current beliefs are not (entirely) correct. I know many people who are quite willing to do this, and they are sincerely striving to expand their understanding. I see this type of people as true spiritual seekers, would you agree?

Answer from the ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

I do agree, but let me add that it is important not to fall into the trap of degrading yourself or your potential to walk the spiritual path. You have to recognize that the mind of anti-christ is based on a fundamental duality, meaning that it always incorporates two opposites, such as good and evil. So for every issue the mind of duality sets up two opposite polarities, meaning that it is possible to go into one of two extremes. The challenge of the spiritual path is to avoid either extreme and stay on what the Buddha called the middle way—which is not a compromise between the two extremes but above and beyond the level of duality. In this context, some people go into the one extreme of pride and think they know better than everyone else, so they don’t need to self-correct. Others go into the opposite extreme of lack of self-worth, thinking they should follow a leader who seems more sure of himself than they are.

There are many people who are too willing to admit that they don’t know everything or have made mistakes, often to the point of feeling that they are not good enough or doubting that they are worthy to follow a spiritual teacher or teaching. It is important to realize that this feeling is one of the consequences of the mindset of duality and separation from God.

In reality, your lifestream was created by God, and thus you are per definition worthy to walk the spiritual path and be in the presence of any spiritual teacher. You are worthy by the very fact that God created you. God gave you free will, and you used it to remove yourself from his kingdom. Yet that has not diminished God’s love for you or your worthiness in God’s eyes. Therefore, God has no desire to see you remain stuck in a limited sense of identity. God only wants you to come back home, which means you must transcend all aspects of the consciousness of separation, including the idea that because of this or that earthly condition, you are not worthy to come back home. The sense of unworthiness was induced through the mind of anti-christ, and the false teachers will use it to keep you from following the true path.

Kim: Okay, that actually leads into my question. As you said in the last discussion, there are false teachers on this planet, and they are often attracted to spiritual organizations. I believe I have met a number of them, am I right?

Jesus: Yes, as part of your training you have been exposed to a number of people who identify with the consciousness of anti-christ. Part of your mission is to help people free themselves from such false teachers, so you needed to see them in action in order to understand how they work.

Kim: What I have noticed is that these people are always very sure of themselves. As you said, their number one rule is that they could never be wrong, and because they have defined their own relative truth, they can always argue their case so that it seems – at least to themselves – that they are right. It is virtually impossible to make them see that there is an understanding which is beyond what they see as the absolute truth. Would you agree?

Jesus: Certainly. The characteristics you just described add up to what we call spiritual blindness. Contrary to what one might expect, this does not mean that such people cannot see the spiritual side of life. On the contrary, they are often very good at portraying themselves as spiritual, exactly as the scribes and Pharisees did 2,000 years ago. Today, you find them in both traditional religions or in the New Age movement, even in the field of science.

So these people can see the spiritual path, and they often have great intellectual knowledge of the path, which is why they can argue their case with great conviction. Yet they completely fail to see the essence of the path, namely that they need to change themselves, that their egos must die. They are extremely good at pointing to the mote in the eye of the sincere spiritual seekers, but it is very difficult to make them see the beam in their own eyes. This is because of the pride that makes them think they know better. They simply do not have the humility that it takes to submit yourself to a spiritual teacher and to follow the teacher’s directions even when they conflict your present beliefs.

In other words, they see the path, yet they don’t see the true path. They see only the way that seemeth right unto a person trapped in the consciousness of duality. They are not sincerely looking for the true path to Christhood. They are looking for the path of glorifying their self-defined relative truth, elevating it as the “real” truth to replace Christ truth.

Kim: I have noticed that when you put these two types of people together, namely the true seekers who are willing to self-correct and the spiritually blind people who are absolutely convinced that they are right, you have a situation in which the true seekers are often overpowered by the blind but aggressive people. Because they are willing to self-correct, the true seekers are always willing to look for a higher understanding, and when they meet people who are very sure of themselves and very convincing, they often cannot avoid being pulled into following them. Is that a correct assessment?

Jesus: Certainly. That is why I said, “Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch” (Matthew 15:14).

Kim: How can the true spiritual teachers avoid falling into this trap?

Jesus: Let me first make it clear that the reason people descended into the duality consciousness was that they blindly followed a blind leader. Eve followed the Serpent because she had not reached for the higher understanding behind the Master’s direction not to eat the forbidden fruit. It was only because she did not have this understanding that she was persuaded by the Serpent’s logic. Yet she did not have this understanding because she had not gone within and reached for the truth inside herself. She had not used the “key of knowledge” that God has placed in the heart of everyone.

Before people can rise above duality, they must overcome the tendency to follow blind leaders. They must develop and use their inner Christ discernment instead of blindly following a leader outside themselves. You see, the true teacher will not tell you everything you need to know in order to pass a certain test. If he did, there would be no test and thus no growth. Also, you would become codependent upon the teacher and would essentially become a robot. The true teacher’s goal is to make you spiritually self-sufficient, spiritually independent. To do that, he gives you partial instructions so that by reaching for a higher understanding, you will grow in Christhood.

My point is that the false teachers are allowed to remain on planet Earth because they still have a function here. People fell because they blindly followed the false teachers, so in order to manifest Christhood, they must overcome this tendency to blindly follow an external leader. To do this, people must be exposed to the false teachers, and that is why God still allows them to remain on Earth. It is people who allow imperfect conditions to remain on this planet.

Kim: But I am sure some people would say you are contradicting yourself here. You said in our first discussion that the essence of the path is that you follow a Master’s instructions even though you can’t fully understand them or they contradict your present beliefs. In other words, you have to have faith in the Master. Yet you are now saying that people should not follow any leader blindly. I mean, I understand what you are saying, but I have met numerous people who would call this a contradiction.

Jesus: If you are looking for contradictions and if you look only at the outer teaching – at the level of the words – you can always find contradictions. The reason is that people have created a mental image, a relative truth, and they project that unto the words. So they see only what confirms their mental image and they are not reaching for the higher understanding behind the words.

As I said in the first discussion, Eve was not meant to follow the Master’s instructions blindly or mechanically. She was meant to stay away from the forbidden fruit but she was meant to go inside herself and reach for a higher understanding of why the fruit represents a danger. If she had used the key of knowledge, she would have understood why she would surely die by eating the fruit, and thus she would not have been persuaded by the Serpent’s claim that she would not surely die.

As I said, contradictions exist in the mind of the person, and if people are caught in duality, you can never convince them that what they see as a contradiction – and which in some cases is a contradiction at the level of the words – can be resolved by using the key of knowledge – your Christ discernment – to reach for a higher truth, namely the truth of Christ that is beyond duality and thus beyond all contradictions.

Kim: So does that explain why you can come to an agreement with some people, whereas there are others with whom you can never really communicate? I mean, I have friends who belong to different religions, and we will never agree on specific issues. Yet we have a deeper contact at the heart level that allows us to see beyond these disagreements in beliefs that exist in the mind. We have a deeper agreement and sense of oneness between us that allows us to see beyond the outer beliefs. Yet I have also met people with whom it seems impossible to establish this heart contact. They are seemingly incapable of or unwilling to go beyond the words. It almost seems like they want to keep arguing rather than finding a sense of oneness.

Jesus: And I am sure most spiritual seekers will recognize your experience from their own lives. It was my hope that most Christians would come to this deeper sense of oneness of heart that would allow them to see beyond the differences in the mind’s beliefs. Yet even my disciples did not manage to get to that point, at least not all of them.

However, you also need to be aware that there cannot be complete oneness in a group of people as long as some of the members are trapped in the mind of anti-christ. Whenever a group of spiritual people come together in a true spirit of oneness, the false hierarchy will immediately send their representatives to divide and conquer. If people don’t realize this, they will often fall for the deception and this is how you have seen many spiritual organizations deteriorate into divisions and power plays. It is possible to avoid this but only through constant diligence and Christ discernment. Your determination to keep the integrity of the organization must be greater than the false hierarchy’s determination to destroy it.

So it is always important to look at people’s intentions. As a spiritual seeker, and also for you, Kim, as my messenger and representative, it is essential to always be willing to self-correct. So if someone comes to you with a concern, you listen to them. Yet you do not simply listen at the level of the words they are saying. You listen with the heart and you ask yourself what their intentions are? As I have said, God only wants you to grow. The same is true for any true teacher and for anyone who is in alignment with the hierarchy of light. Such people may take issue with specific beliefs you have or statements you make, but they will not seek to break down your belief in your ability to grow and to fulfill your mission in life. They will seek to help you become better able to fulfill your mission.

In contrast, those who are trapped in the mind of anti-christ do not want you to fulfill your mission. They want to stop you in any way they can. Thus, their criticism is not constructive criticism, it is destructive criticism. They don’t seek to help you grow, they don’t seek to help you better fulfill your mission, they seek to stop you in your tracks so that you cannot fulfill your mission. They might not realize this consciously, but you need to be sensitive to the hidden motivation in the heart, and most people can learn to sense the toxic vibration of this type of people.

You will never make heart contact with such people because their motivation for interacting with you is in complete opposition to your motivation. They will argue only at the level of the words, and they are so trapped in separation that they see you as a threat. Your discussions always turn into arguments, and they are always trying to win by making you lose. They either see you as competition or as an enemy. So they are not seeking to reach a deeper agreement, they are only seeking to prove that they are right and you are wrong. They are the modern-day scribes and Pharisees who are deliberately looking for faults in your beliefs or your teachings. As I said, they are trying to separate you from the path and from the lineage of true spiritual teachers.

What I would love to see more than anything is that people who study this website will come to a deeper understanding of the path, so they are firmly anchored on the inner path of Christhood and cannot be taken off that path by anything that happens outside themselves or anything that is projected at them by their egos.

The essence of the spiritual path is that you must rise above the consciousness of duality and put on the mind of Christ. To rise above the dualistic, relative “truth” of anti-christ, you must find the real truth, the one truth of the Christ mind, which is the truth that will make you free. Yet that truth cannot be found outside yourself, meaning that no spiritual teaching – including this website – can fully capture or define truth. Any truth expressed in words will be affected by the fact that words are relative. The meaning is that as soon as I give a concept on this website, a concept put into words, that concept has been brought down to the level of duality.

This does not mean that the concept or the words are untrue. But it does mean that it becomes possible to argue against both the concept I give and the words I use. People who are in the duality consciousness can and will disagree with what I am saying and how I am saying it. They can argue against my points and my words, and they will be firmly convinced that they are right. If you engage their arguments at the level of duality, you might enter an endless cycle or bantering that leads nowhere or perhaps takes you down.

The purpose of giving a spiritual teaching, as I explain in great detail in this book, is to give you a springboard for contacting the Spirit of Truth. That is why I said, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” (John 2:24). This statement is extremely important, especially coupled with the statement that, “The kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:21). If you want to know the truth of Christ, you must go beyond the level of the words, the outer teaching. You must go inside yourself and reach for the Spirit of Truth. The truth of Christ exists on its own. It has no opposite and therefore, there are no contradictions in it. When you contact that one truth, you will gain an understanding that is beyond the teaching that is expressed in words, a teaching that can always be counteracted with dualistic arguments. Do you see my point?

Kim: I do, but I have met a number of people who seem unable to see this point. I quite frankly cannot understand why it is so impossible to find a deeper agreement with such people. I mean, I understand what you are saying that they are so trapped in separation, but it is still hard for me to understand that there isn’t some way to break through. I realize the mind of anti-christ is based on a contradiction, but it seems to me it should be possible to make people see the contradiction and then realize they need to look beyond it.
During my life I have been trying to understand how to help people recognize and overcome their spiritual blindness, yet I have never found anything that will allow me to reach these people. Is there something I don’t understand—sometimes it really seems impossible to understand this mindset?

Jesus: All you need to do is to recognize that you cannot understand the mindset of anti-christ because there is nothing to understand. Once you accept that there is nothing to understand – because of its inherent contradictions that make its “truth” relative – you can stop feeling like there is something wrong with you because you cannot reach people trapped in duality.

You need to contemplate my statement, “With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26). The meaning is that nothing you could ever say to such people would make them see beyond their own relative “truth.” There is no arguments you can construct by using words that cannot be counteracted by using words. Therefore, you can never define the ultimate argument by using words. You can never resolve a disagreement by using words.

You can resolve differences between people only by reaching for the Spirit of Truth, the one, undivided and indivisible truth of the Christ mind, rather than the dualistic truth of the mind of anti-christ. To find this truth, you must go beyond the level of words by using the key of knowledge. Yet as I said, “Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered” (Luke 11:52). This is the essence of the false teachers and those who follow them, the false disciples. They will not use the key of knowledge – their Christ selves – to find the absolute truth, the rock of Christ. And they are aggressively trying to prevent others from discovering or using the key of knowledge. They don’t want you to find Christ truth inside yourself; they want you to remain stuck in duality so they can control you with their “sophisticated” arguments.

They also want to hold on to their relative “truth.” Why do they do this? Because as long as truth is relative, they can never be proven wrong. They don’t want to self-correct, they don’t want to come closer to God. Why Not? Because, “Men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil” (John 3:19).

My point is that no amount of understanding would allow you to construct a line of reasoning that would convince such people to give up their relative truth. I encountered such people many times and awakened very few of them. There comes a point when you simply have to let go of such people and respect the law of free will. It is important for all spiritual seekers to realize that is is not your job to save or convert anyone else. It is your job to be who you are, to express your spiritual identity and God Flame.

Kim: So how can we avoid being pulled into an argument with such people?

Jesus: It helps to understand that the mind of anti-christ is based on a very specific type of logic. It is often called serpentine logic to link it to the Garden of Eden story. It can be symbolized by the ancient symbol of the serpent swallowing its own tail. Although this symbol has several valid interpretations, it can be interpreted as illustrating the circular logic that causes people to become completely focused on themselves. They are so busy consuming their own self-created relative “truth” – feeding on their own pride – that they have no attention left over for the truth of Christ. They have become closed systems and are unreachable for both other people, spiritual teachers and their own Christ selves.

How did this happen? Very simple. When you separate yourself from the one truth of Christ, you step into duality, and in duality there are always two opposites. This is what the philosopher Hegel called the dialectical process. The essence is that for each possible thesis, there is an opposing antithesis. The interaction of the two produces a synthesis that becomes the new thesis with a new antithesis, and this can go on indefinitely. Although Hegel made a correct observation of the pattern, you have to add that there is more to the picture.

The concept of a thesis versus an antithesis has meaning only at the level of duality. The false teachers would like you to think this is not so. They pride themselves of having formed an antithesis to God, and they believe they are actually changing God’s reality, God’s truth, by creating a dialectical cycle, whereby the truth of God comes more and more into alignment with what they think it should be, meaning their own relative “truth.”

This is a complete illusion that exists only in the minds of people who are trapped in duality. As the Bible says, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” (Galatians 6:7). In other words, God’s truth, the one truth of the Christ mind, can never be affected or diluted by the mind of anti-christ. The mind of anti-christ does not form an antithesis to the Christ mind, because the mind of Christ is one, indivisible whole. There are no divisions, contradictions or opposites in the Christ mind. There is only the oneness that all life came from the same source. The mind of anti-christ is born of separation, and therefore it is built upon duality. There is a basic division in the mind of anti-christ that results in opposites. It is these opposites that create the dialectical cycles of thesis versus antithesis leading to synthesis.

My point is that the mind of anti-christ creates a state of mind that is completely separate from the mind of Christ. It becomes a closed system, and it can continue the cycles of thesis and antithesis until it eventually creates such internal contradictions that it self-destructs. This is what is described in the second law of thermodynamics. In a closed mind, chaos and confusion will increase until all rationality and logic breaks down and utter insanity is the result. This is what you see in people with a severe mental illness, such as schizophrenia.

Such people eventually become so involved in their own circulatory logic that they lose all connection to “reality” or the “real world.” They become unreachable for other people and often end up in a mental hospital. Everyone else can see these people are wrong, but they cannot see it and will not seriously consider it. Unfortunately, some of these people have ended up in leadership positions in society, and they have created most of the major calamities in history.

What I am saying here is that the Serpentine logic forms a closed system because no matter how you define the thesis and the antithesis, the synthesis will always be a relative “truth.” There is no way you can go from a relative thesis to a non-dualistic synthesis. Your only way out of the closed loop is to go beyond duality and reach for the mind of Christ. Yet once people are too trapped in duality, they cannot see the need to do this. Why should they change their entire approach to life when they are so eloquent at supporting their own beliefs?

Such people become self-fulfilling prophecies and they will keep walking toward the abyss while thinking they are absolutely right. If you define the thesis and the antithesis, you can always arrive at a synthesis that supports what you want to believe. This has been called the “privilege of formulating the problem,” whereby you can control the outcome of any discussion (as long as people accept your definition).

Kim: I am beginning to see why it has been very naive of me to assume I could come up with some kind of reasoning that could help people break free of this cycle. How can people get out of this, once they have descended into it?

Jesus: Simple. They have to admit that there is something they don’t know, something that isn’t working, and then they have to look for a teacher who can help them self-correct. For some people this happens through the dialectical process. They are smart enough to see that they are simply going around in circles or that some of their arguments are contradictory. If people are willing to admit this, they can actually come to see some of the fallacies of the mind of anti-christ and then reach for something higher.

Unfortunately, some people are not smart enough to see the weaknesses in their own line of reasoning, so they continue defending their relative truth even beyond all reason. As we discuss in this book, such people can turn their lives around only by hitting rock bottom. The basic problem is that before such people can step unto the path of self-correction, their pride has to be broken. As a spiritual teacher, one always hopes that people’s pride is broken before their spirit is broken, but unfortunately that isn’t always the case and insanity is often the result.

Kim: So you are saying that we have to accept the fact that there are some people we simply cannot help. There is nothing we could say that could help these people break out of their circular logic?

Jesus: That is correct. As you well realize, God did not make you responsible for other people’s salvation. So you must respect other people’s free will and not be attached to saving or converting them.

Kim: This can be hard to do, though. I have noticed it in myself and in many other spiritual seekers. Sometimes I wonder if there is a certain element of pride that makes me want to convince these people. Yet I also feel there is more to it than that, a deeper desire to help others.

Jesus: Pride is always a concern that must be considered. Attachments usually spring from pride or fear. As I said, you are not responsible for the salvation of other people, but you are responsible for your own salvation. And you truly jeopardize your salvation by becoming emotionally attached to people who are trapped in the mind of anti-christ. Allowing this can only pull you down, and some spiritual seekers have eventually become caught in the mind of duality because they wanted to save someone else.

Yet you are right that there is a deeper motivation. Many – but not all – of the people who are on the spiritual path came into embodiment because they want to help bring in a new and more spiritual age. They have a deep love for God, for the earth and for the souls who are trapped in duality. In some cases people have embodied to help others that are part of their spiritual families. Many spiritual people are motivated by love, and that is why they feel so strongly for awakening others.

Yet it is important to stay clear of the conditional, possessive, human love that makes you attached to a certain outcome. The real point of helping others is to present them with the opportunity to choose whom they will serve. You do this by striving to embody the mind of Christ and demonstrate that mind. Thus, you teach more by example than by words, although words do serve an important function.

If you give people an example of a person who responds to them from the Christ mind, you have done all you can do. What they do with that demonstration, that lifeline, is entirely up to them. That is the way God set up free will, and anyone with love for God can understand and respect that, thereby letting go of attachments to people who are not willing to self-correct.

Kim: So are you saying that if we try to interact with the mind of anti-christ on its own terms, trying to convince it by using an argument based on words alone, we run the risk of becoming trapped by it?

Jesus: Yes, it is like seeking to catch the greased pig. You end up covered in mud with nothing to show for it. That is why I rebuked the devil without trying to convince him of anything (Matthew 4:1).

But if many of us came into embodiment to help awaken other people, how do we deal with that. I mean, we are here to awaken people who are trapped in the mind of anti-christ, so how can we do that without interacting with such people?

I didn’t say you can’t interact with people. I said you must interact without attachments to whether or not you awaken or convince them. You must strive to get to the point of complete non-attachment, where the prince of this world comes and has nothing in you (John 14:30). The way to achieve this is to increase your understanding of how the mind of anti-christ works, so you can interact with people in this frame of mind without being pulled into their circulatory logic. Obviously, I have already given some understanding of this, but let me approach it from another perspective.

The only way to avoid being tempted by the serpentine logic is to increase your Christ discernment, so that you can see through the logic used by those trapped in the dualistic mind. Ultimately, this ability must come from within, but as a start, let us look at the following quote:

15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. (Matthew, 16)

It is unfortunate that most mainstream Christians only look at the first part of this passage and pay no attention to the last part. They think I was talking about the person of Peter and that my church is based upon him. This is not correct, as an objective evaluation of the last part of the passage will show. How could the church of Christ be built upon a person that I rebuked as Satan?

So the real question people should be asking themselves based on this passage is how I could first say that Peter represented the rock upon which I would build a church that Hell could not destroy, and then shortly afterward say to the same person that he was a representative of Satan? Obviously, some will say this is a contradiction, but the mind of Christ can resolve it.

The deeper meaning is that “Peter” is not simply one person, as “Eve” was not simply one person. Peter represents the potential that each person has for recognizing and rejecting the Christ. Each person has the potential to recognize the embodied Christ, the Christ that appears in the flesh. I am not saying every person has developed this ability, but everyone can do so. The ability to recognize the Christ in the flesh is the rock upon which the true church of Christ is built. In order to follow the Christ, you must first recognize the embodied Christ as a representative of the hierarchy of true teachers. You must recognize and admit that the embodied Christ has something you do not have.

At the same time, and as the inevitable consequence of free will, each person also has the ability to reject the Christ or refuse to follow the Christ (all the way). Some people have not sharpened their ability to know the Christ, and thus they simply cannot recognize the living Christ even if he or she stands before them in the flesh. These people are trapped in ignorance. Yet some people have the ability to recognize the Christ but they do not have the willingness to follow the Christ until they become one with the Christ, until they become the Living Christ themselves. These people are trapped in spiritual blindness.

My point being that Peter represents a person who has risen above ignorance but is still influenced by spiritual blindness. Obviously, the purpose of the embodied Christ is to help people escape spiritual blindness so they can manifest their Christhood. Yet Peter was not willing to do so because he did not want to identify himself fully with me, which is why he denied me three times before my trial.

That is why the Catholic Church, from its inception, has been heavily influenced by the mindset of Peter, which also explains why Padre Pio did not fulfill his mission. He was meant to declare his oneness with the Living Christ, to declare himself as the Living Christ, yet he could not rise above the centuries-old denial of the Christ that permeates the Catholic Church. The same holds true for other saints, including Francis of Assisi who did not ascend after that embodiment.

What prevented Peter from going all the way? It was spiritual blindness, but we can be even more specific. Look at the statement, “thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.” When you compare it to what I said in the previous discussion about the mind of duality, you can now see the true meaning. The essence of the mind of anti-christ is that it is based on duality, which means that it defines a relative ”truth.” This dualistic truth becomes the graven image mentioned in the second commandment, it becomes an idol that prevents people from recognizing and worshiping the true God, and instead they dance around their self-made golden calf.

Do you see my point? Peter represents a person who has the ability to recognize the Christ but who is not willing to let go of his own relative “truth.” He has created a mental image of what he thinks the Christ should be like – the things that are of men – and he projects it upon the Living Christ. He then wants the Living Christ to conform to this graven image, and this prevents him from following the teachings and the example of the true teacher. He cannot see the things that are of God because they are obscured by his graven image. Take note of what I said after the above quote:

24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. (Matthew, 16)

What does it mean to deny yourself? It means to deny your human, mortal sense of self, your ego and the mental images created by your ego through the mind of anti-christ. You must take up your cross, and one meaning is that you must be willing to do the work necessary to free yourself from the consciousness of anti-christ. You must be willing to lose your dualistic self in order to be reborn into the Christ consciousness.

Another meaning is that you must be willing to be the hands and feet of God, meaning that you are willing to do or say whatever God wants, no matter how it conflicts with your outer expectations or beliefs. You must never allow any dualistic expectations to prevent God – your I AM Presence – from expressing himself through you because this is a denial of God where you are, which is the hallmark of the mind of anti-christ. As I said:

For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you (Matthew 10:20)

Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.(John 8:28)

For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. (John 12:49)

If you are not willing to let the Spirit speak through you and say something that goes beyond your human expectations or those of others, you are trapped in duality and thus cannot possibly be a messenger for the ascended masters. You will not have the Holy Spirit but a lower spirit that speaks from the duality of anti-christ.

My point is that as a spiritual seeker, you need to understand that the essence of the spiritual path is that you overcome the consciousness of duality. You can do this only by building upon your ability to recognize the embodied Christ or Christ truth. Yet to sharpen this ability, you must understand the workings of the mind of anti-christ, namely that it projects a dualistic image upon the embodied Christ and upon the truth of Christ. You must learn to recognize this tendency in yourself, so you can stop being a blind follower of your own ego. And you must learn to recognize it in others, so you can stop being a blind follower of the false teachers or the false disciples.

The key is to realize that you have an inner ability to recognize Christ truth, namely through your Christ self. One might say that the spiritual teacher who is most important to you is your Christ self because only by learning how to recognize truth from within yourself will you be spiritually self-sufficient. The role of a true teacher is to help you sharpen your ability to recognize truth by reconnecting you to your Christ self. The goal of a false teacher is to have you follow him blindly, so you become codependent upon the outer teacher or your ego.

Kim: That is very enlightening to me because I couldn’t understand how we can have both of these tendencies within us. I mean, how come some people find the spiritual path and follow it for many years, yet they never really seem to change. Now I see why, because they simply aren’t willing to give up their mental images of what the path should be like, they are not willing to let their ego’s die in order to become one with the inner Christ. Yet I sometimes wonder how these people find the spiritual path in the first place. I mean how come they recognize the path yet do not recognize the need to let go of all dualistic images of the path?

Jesus: The explanation is that most people who find the spiritual path do so because they have been given a dispensation, a grace, from a true spiritual teacher. As I said, “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened” (Matthew 24:22). So a spiritual teacher can give a person the grace of a transfer of light that enables the person to discover a true teacher or teaching. Yet this does not mean that the person is home free. As I explain in my parable about the talents (Matthew 25:14), every gift from above must be multiplied.

There are some people who find a spiritual teaching and refuse to multiply their talents. As a result they attain a great intellectual understanding of the path, but they never internalize the teaching. They follow the teaching mechanically instead of using it as a springboard for reaching the Spirit of Truth inside themselves. Therefore, they never come closer to Christhood but only envelop themselves more deeply into spiritual blindness and pride. They think that because they have been following a particular teaching for so long and have done so many outer things, they are very advanced students. Yet in reality they have not taken the very first step unto the inner path to Christhood. That is why I said, “For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:20).

Kim: That is a rather humbling realization, yet I still don’t fully understand something about this. I mean I can see how a person who is completely trapped in the mind of anti-christ can be spiritually blind. Yet it seems that Peter was not completely blind, is that correct?

Jesus: It is. If Peter had been completely blind, he would not have been willing to become one of my followers. He would have either ignored me or condemned me. So one could say that the rock upon which I built my church is the ability to recognize the Christ and the willingness to start following him or her. The problem is that you cannot forever follow the Christ—at some point you must rise to the next level and become the Christ. Nevertheless, you have to start by following a teacher—you must crawl before you can walk.

Kim: Okay, so would you say the scribes and Pharisees were totally blind or at least more blind than Peter?

Jesus: Yes.

Kim: So how come they could still recognize you as a threat to them? I mean, if they had not seen the Christ in you, why would they have been threatened by you and have condemned you? If these people were trapped in the mindset of anti-christ, how come they could recognize the Christ. I guess what I really mean is, how can the mind of anti-christ recognize the Living Christ without recognizing the truth of Christ and following that truth? How can a person recognize Christ yet remain trapped in the mind of anti-christ?

Jesus: You are getting very subtle here aren’t you? It is a very good question, but the answer cannot be grasped by people in the duality consciousness. As I said in our first discussion, the mind of Christ is the only begotten Son of God. This means that the mind of Christ was created by God, and therefore it has a permanent existence. It is self-sufficient, meaning that it can exist on its own.

The mind of anti-christ was not created by God and thus it has no permanent existence. Likewise, it is not self-sufficient and cannot exist on its own. It is born as a reaction (based on free-will choices) against the mind of Christ. Thus it can exist only in opposition to the Christ mind. It is defined only as being against the mind of Christ, whereas the mind of Christ is defined as being one with God. The mind of Christ can exist without the mind of anti-christ but the reverse is not true.

My point is that because the mind of anti-christ exists only in opposition to the mind of Christ, it does have the ability to recognize Christ. That is why the devil came to tempt me and try to prevent me from manifesting my Christhood. You see, false teachers are not trapped in ignorance. They are trapped in spiritual blindness, which means that they know that Christ and Christ truth exist. Yet they do not accept the Christ as being the savior and they do not accept Christ truth as being superior to their own relative “truth.” They don’t see Christ truth as one and indivisible, and they think it is just one more viewpoint that can be debated through an endless dialectical cycle.

The reason for this is that the mind of anti-christ is born from separation, which creates an inevitable, built-in, duality in this mind. The mind of anti-christ can never see the one truth of the Christ mind. It can see only a dualistic, relative “truth” that is defined by two polar opposites. In the Christ mind there is no good and evil in the sense that good and evil exist only in relation to each other. In the Christ mind, good is not defined as the opposite of evil because the absolute good of God can have no opposite. The mind of Christ can see this but the mind of anti-christ cannot.

One might say that the mind of anti-christ sees everything through the filter of duality, and therefore it can see only concepts that have opposites. To this mindset, good has meaning only in relation to evil, meaning that good can exist only if evil also exists. Therefore, good and evil are relative concepts. In the Christ mind, good is completely self-sufficient and its existence or definition does not depend on an opposite concept of evil. Absolute good is that which is in harmony with God’s laws, is one with God. Something that is out of harmony with God’s laws is not evil to the Christ mind. It is simply unreal and exists only as a temporary result of choices made by self-conscious beings trapped in the mind of anti-christ. It is the absence of truth as darkness is the absence of light. When people replace those choices with choices based on the rock of Christ, evil ceases to exist.

People trapped in the mind of anti-christ think evil has a real existence. They often think it is necessary and even beneficial, and thus it is okay to make choices based on the consciousness of anti-christ. This leads to the belief that people have a right to define their mental images of what Christ truth should be like and how a representative of Christ should behave. Such people also believe they can define what a Christed being should and should not say. Which explains why some people find this website and reject it as soon as they find one statement that does not conform to their mental image of what Christ should say.

Kim: So based on everything we have discussed here, what is the one thing that prevents agreement between people?

Jesus: Kim, do you have any absolute beliefs? Is there anything you believe in so firmly that it could never be expanded by a higher understanding?

Kim: No, I no longer have any absolute beliefs. I realize that what I know and believe right now is simply the highest truth I am able to grasp with my current level of consciousness, and at any moment you – or another teacher (even a teacher disguised as an ant) – could help me discover a higher understanding.

Jesus: So you recognize that there is a higher source of truth than your own mind, your own sense of logic?

Kim: I do.

Jesus: As a result of that, you will be able to come to a deeper agreement, a deeper sense of oneness, with anyone who has that same approach to life. There can be oneness among people only when they are open to the possibility that their current beliefs are not the absolute truth and that there is a higher authority, the authority of Christ, who is beyond any earthly authority, including false teachers and people’s own egos. When people do not recognize an authority beyond their own minds, there can be no deeper sense of oneness. There can be only an agreement based on words, and it will always be a house built on sand.

Yet when people are willing to look beyond the dualistic “truth” of anti-christ and reach for the one truth of Christ, they can form a sense of oneness even if they have many different beliefs at the level of words. This is the oneness that is based on the perfect love that casts out all fear. This is the true rock upon which I will build my church in this age. And truly, as long as people remain committed to always resolving differences by reaching for the higher authority of the Christ mind, the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Eve and the Serpent

Have you ever noticed that some people are very aggressive in trying to convert you to their beliefs? Some are even willing to destroy your beliefs in the process, seeking to cast doubt upon the teaching or teacher you follow or the entire spiritual path. Learn how to recognize such people, what their agenda is and how to protect yourself from their aggressive mental suggestion.

Question from Kim: Jesus, please help me understand what happened between Eve and the Serpent. I know you have said that the story of the Garden of Eden is a symbol for what has happened to every soul. In other words, it does not truly mean that women are responsible for the Fall. Eve is a symbol for the feminine polarity of our beings, our conscious selves, whereas the I AM Presence is the masculine polarity. What I would like to understand is what it really means that Eve was tempted by the Serpent and what the Serpent represents.

Answer from the ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

Eve before the fall represents the evolving lifestream who has not yet attained the Christ consciousness but is actively – and without any internal divisions – growing toward that state of God-awareness. The Serpent represents a lifestream who has embodied the consciousness of anti-christ and is therefore actively seeking to prove God wrong by trapping other lifestreams in the mindset of anti-christ. Eve after the fall represents the lifestream who has partaken of the mind of anti-christ – the fruit of the knowledge of relative good and evil – and is therefore a house divided against itself.

When you first descend into the material realm, you – meaning the conscious self – have limited experience and self-awareness. We might say that you are what Paul called a “babe in Christ.” God is well aware of this, and thus provides newly descended lifestreams with a protected environment and a spiritual teacher. The Garden of Eden represents such a spiritual schoolroom for evolving lifestreams and the “God” in the garden was a member of the ascended masters, serving in the capacity of a teacher, guide, guru or Master.

The age-old and time-tested method for helping evolving lifestreams attain the full Christ consciousness is the Master-disciple, or Guru-chela, relationship. What is the basis for this relationship? It is that the Master knows more about the universe and God’s laws than the disciple—meaning that he/she has a higher level of Christ consciousness. If the disciple had the same spiritual attainment as the Master, the disciple would not need a Master but would be a Master. Yet if the disciple was a Master, he or she would not be in embodiment on Earth, and thus it is safe to say that every person on Earth needs a Master (inner or outer) in order to reach Christ consciousness.

One of my Masters was John the Baptist who helped me recognize my true mission. Without him I would not have achieved the breakthrough that was necessary before I could begin my mission. He also helped me in other ways that are not recorded in the scriptures. My point being that no true spiritual seeker ever assumes that he or she does not need a Master or can make it to Christ consciousness without a Master. Doing so would be pride, which results in spiritual blindness.

So the very basis for the Master-disciple relationship is that the Master has a higher level of Christ consciousness than the disciple. Therefore, the Master instructs the disciple, and if the disciple follows the instructions, he or she grows toward the Christ consciousness. Yet for the disciple to follow the Master, the disciple must trust the master and the process of growth.

This means that the disciple must be willing to follow the Master’s instructions without fully knowing why they are given. The Master-disciple relationship is based on trust, a promise made by the Master and a covenant between the two, which says that if the disciple stays true to the Master, the disciple will attain the same level of consciousness as the Master. The obligation of the Master is to impart his/her own level of consciousness to the disciple, and the obligation of the disciple is to maintain faith in the process of growth, the process of self-transcendence.

It is essential to understand that the Master’s instructions are graded and carefully adapted to the student’s present level of awareness. As you see in the school system on Earth, you do not teach university level courses to students in kindergarten. In other words, the instructions you receive at any given point are always at a slightly higher level than your current awareness. You can grasp the instructions, but you have to stretch the mind to apply the instructions.

The important effect of this is that the disciple, especially a beginning disciple, does not have enough attainment to understand why the Master’s instructions are given or why they take a certain form. This is not because the Master necessarily hides anything from the disciple, but if the disciple had the attainment to understand why a lesson is given, the disciple would not need the lesson. So there is a built-in gap between the disciple’s attainment and the awareness required to pass the test hidden behind the instructions. It is by overcoming this gap that the disciple passes the test and grows in attainment. Yet for the disciple to overcome this gap, he/she must be willing to follow the Master’s instructions without full knowledge of why they are given.

It is also essential to understand that the form of learning provided in a spiritual schoolroom is not passive learning. It is active, hands-on learning that requires the disciple to integrate the lesson through his or her own efforts, ingenuity and creativity. A part of the learning process is that the disciple, especially the more advanced disciple, is tested, which means that the disciple is given a set of instructions, and although the instructions are not wrong, the disciple cannot pass the test by taking them literally. It is up to the disciple to figure out exactly what the instructions mean. That is why a spiritual schoolroom is often referred to as a “Mystery School.”

In other words, the disciple grows by figuring out the deeper understanding behind the Master’s instructions. This is an essential concept because it explains why you cannot blindly or mechanically follow the Master’s instructions. You have to follow them creatively by reaching for a higher degree of Christ awareness—which is multiplying your talents. This is the process seen in Zen Buddhism of having the student contemplate a koan, which is a contradictory riddle that cannot be solved literally.

Nevertheless, the disciple does have to follow the spirit of the instructions and cannot redefine the instructions to his or her liking or convenience. In other words, the disciple must reach for the higher state of consciousness required to pass the test instead of reinterpreting the Master’s instructions to fit the disciple’s current level of consciousness. If the disciple is not willing to rise to a higher level of awareness, he/she will pull the Master’s instructions down and will not grow. My point is that in order to grow, the disciple needs faith in the Master and in the process of growth. However, it cannot be blind faith; it must be a faith based on the desire for a higher understanding. That is why the Bible says, “With all thy getting, get understanding” (Proverbs 4:7), and why I said, “Seek and ye shall find” (Matthew 7:7).

Let us now take another look at the Garden of Eden. Eve, representing the evolving disciple, had been given a very specific instruction by the Master, namely to avoid the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. The forbidden fruit is a representation of the consciousness of anti-christ, the consciousness of separation from God and the mindset of duality and relative truth. Eve did not have the full awareness of the reason the instruction was given, because in that case there would have been no test.

Eve could have passed the test by following the instructions while seeking a higher understanding of why they were given. Yet instead of following the instructions of her Master, Eve listened to the temptations of the Serpent. In the Biblical story, this was a specific being who had embodied the consciousness of anti-christ and was fully identified with it. This being was allowed in the Garden because the real test behind the Master’s instructions concerning the forbidden fruit was that the disciple needed to deal with the temptation to disobey God’s laws.

When God gave lifestreams free will, it became inevitable that they received the potential to go against God’s laws and the creative intent. There is no guarantee or necessity that a lifestream will use its free will to go against God’s laws, but is does remain a potential, and for the evolving disciple it remains a constant temptation. That temptation is not fully overcome until the disciple manifests full Christ consciousness and thus leaves the consciousness of anti-christ behind for good. For that to happen, the Master must allow the disciple to be tested by the consciousness of anti-christ, as I was tempted by the devil after my stay in the wilderness.

How was Eve tempted by the consciousness of anti-christ? The disciple was tempted because the Serpent performed a deliberate and calculated attack at the very heart of the Master-disciple relationship. As I said, the essence of this relationship is the disciple’s faith in the Master, and thus the Serpent attacked this faith by sowing the seed of doubt in the disciple’s mind. This was done with the words, “Thou shalt not surely die.” That one word, “surely,” was the arrow of doubt that caused the disciple to doubt the Master’s instructions.

By allowing the mind to dwell upon and take in this doubt, the disciple became a “house divided against itself,” and thus the disciple could no longer stand in the Master’s presence. The disciple sought to hide from the Master, and in so doing the sense of separation from the Master was further solidified. The disciple finally descended so far into the consciousness of separation/duality/relativity – the consciousness of anti-christ – that the disciple lost the connection to the Master and even the memory of the Master. All that was left was this subtle inner longing for something beyond this world, a longing that can never be fully eradicated but can be covered over.

Kim: So can you help me understand the consciousness of anti-christ. I mean where did it come from and what is the essence of it?

Jesus: It came into being as a companion to free will. As I explain throughout this website, God defined certain creative principles, or laws, to make sure the universe can grow in a sustainable manner and will not self-destruct. You are designed to be a co-creator with God and to help bring God’s kingdom to Earth by using your creative abilities within the framework of God’s laws. The laws are meant to maintain the perfect harmony between individual co-creators and the whole, so that one co-creator cannot use his/her creative abilities to destroy other lifestreams or the whole.

God wants the whole to grow, not just one lifestream. When you stay within God’s law, there is harmony between your individual creativity and the whole, meaning that your creative efforts magnify both yourself and the whole. If you go outside God’s law, you act as if the rest of the universe doesn’t matter or is subordinate to you. Thus, everything you do serves to limit both yourself and the whole.

Obviously, this isn’t God’s intent, so as a safeguard, God designed the material universe as a mirror. Whatever you do to others is magnified by the universe and mirrored back to you, which has the effect of limiting your creative powers. This prevents you from destroying the entire universe because you will reduce your creative powers to zero before you can destroy too much of your environment.

However, this is only a safeguard for co-creators who do misuse their free will. There is no necessity for you to do so. It is perfectly possible to use your unlimited creativity in ways that magnify both yourself and the whole. To teach you how to balance individuality with the whole, God created the spiritual schools, the mystery schools, and provided inexperienced co-creators with more experienced teachers.

If you do separate yourself from a true spiritual teacher, the law of karma, or action-reaction, becomes your teacher. Obviously, the Master-disciple relationship is designed to help you stay within the safe haven of God’s law. Yet that only works as long as you have faith in the Master, and the ultimate Master is your Creator who designed the universe for your growth and his laws for your protection. If you separate yourself from the Master who is assigned as your teacher, the law of action and reaction will teach you by returning to your doorstep everything you send out. Hopefully, you will one day realize that if you keep throwing hatred into the universe, the cosmic mirror keeps throwing it back at you, so if you don’t want hatred coming back, you need to start sending out love instead.

The role of the true Master is to help you learn this lesson without suffering the consequences of your actions. Yet that only works when you believe the Master’s instructions, for example if the Master tells you not to eat a certain fruit because you will surely die by doing so.

It is essential to understand that because of the law of action and reaction, God is not overly concerned about you violating his laws. You are allowed to experiment and you are allowed to make mistakes. In other words, you can learn both from following and from going against God’s laws. The problem comes in when you go against God’s laws and then refuse to admit that you made a mistake that limits yourself (and all other parts of life).

My point is that the purpose of life is growth, and because of free will, no one can force you to grow. You can grow in only one way, namely through self-correction, self-transcendence. So what happens when a disciple makes a mistake and refuses to understand or admit that it was a mistake—refuses to face the teacher? Obviously, such a lifestream cannot/will not self-correct, and consequently it cannot grow. This is against the very creative intent itself, and if the lifestream keeps it up, it will eventually self-destruct. Needless to say, God much prefers that his sons and daughters do not fall into this trap.

To prevent this, God has created the consciousness of Christ, which serves as a safeguard. The universal Christ mind is the only begotten Son of God, and as I said, only the Son knows the Father (Matthew 11:27) and no one comes to the Father except through the Son (John 14:6). The meaning is that the Christ mind is one with God and God’s law. A co-creator who has attained Christ consciousness sees itself as one with God and with the Body of God. Therefore, such a being understands that following God’s law is best for itself and for the whole—which is part of its larger sense of Self. Thus, a Christed being would never violate God’s law, and such a being has an absolute standard for knowing what is in harmony with God’s law and what is not.

Yet a co-creator is not created with the full Christ consciousness. It is created as a babe in Christ with the potential to attain full God-awareness. This must be attained through choices, whereby the truth of Christ becomes fully integrated into your being. You are not blindly following God’s laws, you know why they are enlightened self-interest. A co-creator grows by choosing the absolute truth of Christ over the relative truth of anti-christ.

The mind of anti-christ is born out of separation from God and God’s law, which is a potential because of free will. This separation leads to a fundamental duality, meaning that you see yourself as being here and God is somewhere else. You separate yourself out from God and thus you no longer see yourself as one with the Body of God. You have now lost the ability to balance your individuality with the larger whole, and you seek to glorify the individual self instead of the larger Self. That is why people in this state of mind become increasingly egotistical, until they become unreachable for both other people and a spiritual teacher.

Duality gives rise to an entirely new state of consciousness in which there is no appreciation for the absolute truth found in the Christ mind, the truth based on God’s law. “Truth” has now become a relative concept that is defined by the being trapped in the mind of anti-christ. This is the fruit of the knowledge of relative good and evil, where you have no absolute way of defining truth, so it all becomes relative to how you want to define it. You can always justify glorifying the individual self while ignoring the whole.

The essential point here is that in the mind of anti-christ there is no truth whatsoever. So the more a being is trapped in, identifies with, this consciousness, the harder it becomes to see and admit that it has made a mistake. After all, if there is no absolute truth, how can one say that a given act was a mistake? When truth is relative, it is always possible to define a “truth” that makes it seem like you didn’t make a mistake and thus you don’t need to self-correct. When you define “truth” you can always make it seem like you are right and everyone else – including God – is wrong.

Obviously, you can only maintain this illusion by ignoring what is said by true spiritual teachers and by ignoring what is reflected back to you from the universe. In other words, you must ignore the consequences of your own actions, and this becomes an uphill battle. If you send out hatred, the universe mirrors it back, and the more hatred you send out, the more comes back, making it more difficult to ignore or explain away. In order to continue to ignore that you are responsible for what comes back from the universe, you must enter into a state of total pride and arrogance that makes it seem like what comes back is not caused by you. It is the fault of other people or an unjust God. Therefore, you are right and everyone else, even God, is wrong. You essentially engage in a fight to control the universe, thinking that when everything lives up to your self-defined world view, you will have the ultimate proof that you – and your relative definition of truth – are right.

When your definition of truth is relative and your pride is absolute, you can maintain this illusion until you face the trial by fire that goes before the second death (Revelation 20:14 and 21:8). At that moment, a soul can no longer ignore truth, but it can still maintain the pride that makes it refuse to self-correct, even in the face of absolute truth. So one might say that the basic element of the serpentine mind is the relative definition of “truth,” but the real problem with it is the refusal to self-correct.

This refusal springs from doubt in God’s promise, as I expressed in my parable about the talents, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord” (Matthew 25:21). The disciple either doubts the validity of this promise or is unwilling to “be faithful over a few things,” meaning multiplying your talents and making the best of what you have right now, in order to prove the promise.

Kim: That is very interesting to me because it might explain why certain people are so aggressive in denouncing any idea that doesn’t fit into their world view. I could never understand why such people cannot just let other people have different beliefs. I mean, why feel so threatened by the fact that other people follow a different religion, why be so aggressive in converting them to your beliefs? Is that because such people are trapped in the serpentine mind?

Jesus: That is correct. Their life, in fact their existence as the beings they are today, is based on an illusion that they have created from their own relative definition of truth. If that illusion was challenged or proven wrong, they would have to admit that it was a Tower of Babel—and thus they would have to change. The absolute law for such people is that they can never be proven wrong, and thus they will go to great length to prevent their relative “truth” from being challenged or proven wrong. This automatically puts them at odds with people who are sincerely striving to embody the truth of Christ. They feel threatened by such people and especially by anyone demonstrating his or her Christhood.

People who are completely trapped in this combination of fear and pride are willing to kill those who follow what they must define as a false religion. This is the basis for every religious war seen on this planet. Some people are not ready to kill to maintain their illusion, but this is often because they think they cannot get away with it. Yet they have no compunctions about killing your beliefs, which can be said to be a form of psychic murder. Here is how I addressed these people: “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it” (John 8:44). The devil’s primary concern is to kill your faith in God and separate you from a true teacher.

One might say that such people are the false teachers or the false prophets that I warned people about. You might notice that I said they come in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves (Matthew 7:15). The meaning is that such people often appear to be religious or spiritual. In fact, a certain type of them are attracted to spiritual organizations, and as a true spiritual seeker you should expect to meet some of them.

Kim: Okay, that is a statement I think will surprise many people. In fact, I think many people will refuse to believe it. I see so many people who want to believe that their church is better than anyone else’s or is the only true one. Therefore, it could not possibly be influenced by the mindset of anti-christ.

Jesus: Well, you just need to look at history and see that virtually every religion or church has gradually become rigid or dogmatic, thereby losing or perverting the original teachings. Christianity is the perfect example, as I explain throughout this website. I think anyone open to this website will be open to this fact.

The real point here is that as you grow in spiritual maturity, you will put away your former beliefs, including the naive belief that a given organization cannot be influenced by the mindset of anti-christ. As Paul said, “When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things” (1Corinthians 13:11).

It is a basic fact that, after the Fall, every aspect of life on this planet has been somewhat influenced by the mindset of anti-christ. As you grow toward Christhood, you will gradually attain the discernment to separate the absolute truth of Christ from the relative truth of anti-christ, yet you have to be willing to consciously use this ability. If you think you can make spiritual progress without discerning between truth and relative truth, you are still trapped in the consciousness of relative truth.

Therefore, as a more mature seeker, you should expect and anticipate that you will be tempted by or otherwise exposed to people who are trapped in the mindset of anti-christ. As I said, this is an inevitable result of the current state of affairs on Earth, but it is also allowed by God as a necessary step to you redeeming yourself and separating yourself from the mindset that caused you to leave the Master-disciple relationship. You have to separate yourself from the false teacher before you can reunite with your true teacher.

My point is that you need to be aware that false teachers exist, and you need to be on the lookout for them. The better you become at identifying them and their methods, the less likely you are to be led astray by them, thereby taking a detour. As part of this, it is necessary to be aware that the ascended masters form a hierarchy of spiritual teachers who serve to help you grow toward personal Christhood. Our role is to set people free from the consciousness of anti-christ, and any true teacher works under the lineage of our hierarchy of light.

Yet there is also a hierarchy of darkness, we might call it a false hierarchy, and they are very aggressive and very organized. Their ultimate goal is to prove that God was wrong by giving co-creators free will, and their aim is to make everyone on Earth misuse their free will through the consciousness of anti-christ. Many of these beings exist as disembodied beings on lower realms, including the mental and emotional realms, as explained elsewhere. Yet there are many people in embodiment who serve as either knowing or unknowing representatives of the false hierarchy.

As I said, they will do everything possible to destroy your faith in a true teacher or in the entire process of redemption. The essence of the problem on Earth is that people have become trapped in the consciousness of duality. From the very beginning God designed a process that allows any being – no matter how far it has descended into the consciousness of anti-christ – to redeem itself. This process is the spiritual path, whereby you follow a true teacher until you attain Christ consciousness and know God’s truth from within yourself. The false hierarchy will do anything possible to prevent you from knowing about this path or following it.

Their first goal is to prevent people from knowing anything about the true path and its goal, whereby people remain trapped in ignorance. When you rise above this ignorance, they seek to destroy your faith in the process of redemption or in a specific teacher or teaching that represents the ascended masters. Or they seek to destroy your faith that you are able or worthy to be a disciple. If that doesn’t work, they seek to tempt you into following one of the many false paths, the way that seemeth right unto a man because it is defined by the duality consciousness.

You need to be aware that there is an entire group of people who serve as the spoilers, and they are actively seeking to accomplish the above goals by destroying any spiritual teacher, teaching or organization. When a new spiritual initiative springs up, the false hierarchy will send their representatives (be they knowing or unknowing representatives) to the leader in order to destroy, or at least control, him/her. This first of all means destroying the leader’s faith in his mission or ability to fulfill it, but it can also involve killing the person as my experience clearly demonstrates. If that doesn’t work, they will move on and seek to destroy anyone following that teacher, and from there they seek to discredit the teaching.

If a movement survives these first attacks, plan B comes into effect, and it is essentially based on the philosophy that, “If you can’t beat’em—join ‘em.” The representatives of the false hierarchy will now join the organization (some might actually have been there from the beginning) and they will seek to take it away from its original purpose. In Christianity, you can see this very clearly. The Roman empire first attempted to kill all Christians, and then Christianity was turned into the official state religion. Thereby, I was turned into an idol to worship instead of an example to follow, and as a result my original mission has been subverted—or so it seems to the false hierarchy.

Kim: How can you defend yourself from these attacks, which I assume can be very subtle?

Jesus: The first line of defense is always to expand your awareness. You need the basic understanding that the spoilers exist and that they always use the same strategy. They seek to “divide and conquer,” meaning that they seek to plant doubt in your mind, so that you become a house divided against itself. In an organization, they will seek to divide the leaders and or followers, again by planting doubt.

Yet the true defense is a firm understanding of what the spiritual path is about. The purpose of the path is to give you the opportunity to redeem yourself and reunite with your true teacher (so that you are no longer divided in your own being). You can then come back to the oneness with God and with the Body of God on Earth and in Heaven that is the true abundant life.

How can you do this? By being willing to self-correct, being willing to self-transcend. Do you see the point? No matter what mistakes you have made, you can always come back to the teacher. Yet to do so, you must be willing to admit that you made a mistake and then rise above the state of consciousness that caused you to make the mistake—you must be willing to self-correct.

This is the essential truth that the false teachers do not want you to know about, understand or accept. They want you to think that you have made such a mistake that you cannot come back to the teacher, cannot come back to God’s kingdom. And they will use every conceivable plot to destroy your belief in the possibility of redemption or prevent you from walking the path to redemption. The aim of their effort is to stop you at a certain step of the spiritual path and prevent you from taking the next step.

How can you overcome this plot? By always – and I mean ALWAYS – being willing to take the next step. NEVER allow any force – be it a false teacher outside yourself or the false teacher of your own ego – to prevent you from taking the next step on the path. NEVER allow anything to prevent you from transcending your current level of consciousness and taking the next step toward Christ consciousness. As long as you are transcending yourself, you are moving toward Christ consciousness, and no false teacher can stop your progress unless you allow them to convince you not to take the next step. The motto must be, “From here forward, ALWAYS forward!”

Kim: So are you saying that there are people in the world today – some of them in spiritual/religious organizations – who are false teachers and are – whether or not they know this consciously – acting as the representatives of the false hierarchy of anti-christ?

Jesus: Certainly. Anyone who is aggressively promoting a teaching based on the consciousness of anti-christ or is promoting the false path is actively helping the cause of the false hierarchy. Basically, anyone seeking to destroy other people’s faith in the spiritual path is serving the cause of the false hierarchy—which is to separate the disciple from the teacher. There are also some people in embodiment today who in past lives served as leaders and led many lifestreams astray, causing them to fall into the consciousness of duality or preventing them from following a true teacher.

As I said, the characteristic of the serpentine consciousness is an unwillingness to admit an error, an unwillingness to self-correct. There are people in today’s world who have been in this state of consciousness for a very long time. They have therefore become extremely skilled at using a dualistic “truth” to convince others that they are right. They can often seem very sincere, very knowledgeable and very persuasive. That is why they continue to lead many people astray even today.

Kim: Could one say that such people share in the responsibility for leading people on Earth astray? I mean, I once heard someone use the expression that a person can “carry the karma of Eve.” Does that apply to what we are talking about here?

Jesus: It does in the sense that “Eve” represents what has happened to more than one lifestream. The karma of Eve has two aspects. The karma made by the disciple is the karma of disobeying the Master, and that karma is individual. Most people on Earth carry an individual karma of Eve. You are always responsible for the choices you make, even if you allow a false teacher to influence your choices.

Yet Eve was tempted, and thus the other aspect is the karma made by the false teacher who led Eve astray. One might say that the real karma of Eve is that of aggressively and maliciously separating a disciple from the Master. This is a collective karma, meaning that a false teacher carries a certain karma for each person he/she led astray. The Serpent is the primary being that carries the karma of Eve. Yet anyone who has come to embody the consciousness of the Serpent will also have been instrumental in leading people astray. There are a number of people on Earth today who in past lives led many people astray, and therefore one can say that they carry the karma of Eve.

Kim: How can such people redeem themselves from that karma?

Jesus: By meeting one inescapable condition, namely that they must abandon the consciousness of the Serpent, which means that they must be willing to admit their past mistakes and self-correct. They must rise above the relative truth they have defined and confess the absolute truth of Christ, whereby their former errors become obvious and are no longer shrouded in the veils of duality. In order to balance the karma for taking people off the true path, a person must be willing to demonstrate the true path. And this can be done only by completely abandoning the consciousness of anti-christ.

This can be very difficult for a lifestream who has been stuck in duality for many lifetimes. How can such a person admit that he or she has created a world view that is entirely based on duality—that is a house built on sand? Such people often believe they know better than others, and therefore they cannot/ will not see that they need to abandon their “perfect” world view and humble themselves before a true teacher until they attain true Christ discernment.

Such people are often very reluctant to acknowledge the truth of Christ, seeking to explain it away and turn it into a relative truth. They often seek to undermine a true teacher because they think they know better than such a teacher. And because their world view is based on relative “truth,” they can always argue their case in a way that is convincing to people who cannot see through duality.

It is therefore extremely important that spiritual seekers learn to recognize the mindset of the serpent, so they can avoid following people who are stuck in this frame of mind.

When you allow anti-christ to define your image of Christ, is it any wonder that you cannot be free?

A message from Jesus through Kim Michaels:

As I have said, Christianity has been completely taken over by the consciousness and the forces of anti-christ. Do you begin to see what this means?

It means that the image of Christ that has been promoted by the Christian religion for over 1700 years is indeed a complete illusion. It was deliberately designed by the mind of anti-christ in order to keep people trapped behind the veil of illusions formed by the consciousness of anti-christ. Thus, even though I came to set people free from the consciousness of anti-christ, the false image of me has become the primary tool for creating an almost total form of mental slavery.

What is Christ and what is anti-christ? Well, the shortest possible explanation is that Christ is the consciousness that sees the oneness of all life, the oneness of Creator and creation. Anti-christ is the consciousness that actively denies this oneness and instead presents an image of a world with separate compartments. There either is no God or he is the remote God in the sky; not the God who resides in the kingdom within you.

Anti-christ is ultimately not real. It is an illusion that can exist only in the minds of self-aware beings. And that explains why it MUST keep people trapped in illusions, because otherwise anti-christ will literally die. It has no life of its own, so it can continue to exist only by stealing the life-blood – the consciousness – of self-aware beings.

Christ comes to set you free from the illusion of separation, so you can accept the reality that you are an individualized extension of your Creator’s being and consciousness. Thus, you can never actually be separated from your God; separation can exist only as an illusion in your mind and in the collective mind of the inhabitants on a planetary unit.

Given that anti-christ must keep you trapped in illusion in order to survive, is it any wonder that the forces of anti-christ took over the Christian religion and have used it to promote an entirely false image of Christ? They have thus turned the Christian religion into a closed system, from which there is no escape.

For the primary feature of anti-christ is that it colors the way you see EVERYTHING. And when everything you see is colored by anti-christ, you simply have no frame of reference for knowing that there is something outside the illusions you see. Thus, Christ comes to give you this frame of reference, so that you might indeed make an informed choice between the reality of Christ and the unreality of anti-christ.

By applying the teachings and tools I give on this and our other websites, you will be able to free yourself from the illusions of anti-christ. And as enough people do this, the momentum will become unstoppable, until the forces of anti-christ literally lose the grip they have on this planet. That event is not as far off as one might think; yet it is not a manifest reality either. It will take millions of people who claim their Christhood, and my purpose for this website is to help as many as possible come to that point of fully and consciously choosing LIFE.

There is more to life—and Christianity!

If you seek the real Jesus,

look inside your heart.

He is nowhere else to be found.

By Kim Michaels

All spiritual teachers have been telling us that we don’t have to live our entire lives the way we were brought up, or programmed, to live. We don’t have to live a superficial life in an endless pursuit of material possessions, fame, career goals or other outer goals. We don’t have to confine our minds to what we were taught in school and Sunday school.

  • There is more to do with your life.
  • There is more to understand about life.
  • There is more to experience, and it isn’t reserved for the few.
  • It is something that all of us can have, if we are willing to learn how to get it. Experiencing a life that is more, that is spiritually abundant, is not a matter of magic, luck or fate. It is a matter of adopting the right approach to life, of learning a systematic procedure for expanding your awareness and of directing your attention inside yourself instead of always chasing some outer mirage.

How do you get started on this spiritual life? You must become a seeker of truth instead of a follower of doctrine. What does it take to become a seeker of truth? Consider the following question,

“If your present religious beliefs were incomplete or incorrect—would you want to know?”

If the answer is a clear “Yes,” you are already a seeker. If the answer is tentative, you might want to consider that you might be a seeker without realizing it.

Why have people always been dreaming about improving their personal lives and finding happiness and peace of mind? Why are we constantly trying to improve society? Isn’t it because somewhere deep within us we know there is more to life than what we experience right now?

Because we sense that there must be more to life, we are on a quest. We are engaged in an ongoing process of learning, a process of growth. What starts this process of growth, both on a personal level and in society as a whole? It all starts with a question, an unanswered question, and the burning desire to find an answer.

To grow or not to grow

We have two options in life: to grow or not to grow. Growth starts at a point of humility, namely the recognition that we don’t know everything, that there might be something we have not yet understood, that there might be more to life than what we have presently discovered. This recognition leads to the desire to understand more about life, a desire to discover the unknown, a longing to connect to something greater than ourselves. This longing, this willingness to learn and grow, is the hallmark of all spiritual seekers and all spiritual teachers.

The essence of growth is a willingness to look outside our present knowledge and beliefs, a readiness to think outside the box. In opposition to growth is an unwillingness to look at ideas that do not fit inside the mental box of our present knowledge and beliefs.

This reluctance to ask questions and seek answers can spring from pride or arrogance. We feel that we already know everything there is to know, everything that it is important to know or everything we are allowed to know. We feel that our present belief system can give us all the answers we need.

Opposition to growth can also spring from fear. The fear that if we look outside the box, we might discover ideas that make it necessary for us to reconsider, revise or even abandon our present beliefs. We fear losing our foundation, our sense of comfortability and security, even our sense of identity. We somehow fear that expanding our understanding and finding answers to our questions can be a threat to our present sense of who we are. And even if we are presently unhappy, we think a familiar unhappiness is better than the uncertainty associated with new ideas. We simply don’t dare to take the chance that if we go beyond our present beliefs, we might end up with nothing. We see new ideas as a threat rather than as an opportunity. We fear change and growth.

The seekers

Many people grow up learning only what allows them to fit into their social environment and adopt the lifestyle they were brought up to accept as their only option. After reaching adulthood, such people rarely think about new ideas or seek answers to deeper questions. Instead, they focus of the outer aspects of life and ignore or suppress all spiritual questions. They simply stop growing, both physically and spiritually.

Yet in every generation, a certain percentage of people cannot be satisfied with this form of life. They cannot stop thinking about the deeper, spiritual questions of life. They cannot stop thinking, and they cannot stop seeking answers. These people cannot stop growing spiritually, even when their bodies stop growing in size. They cannot be satisfied with the outer aspects of life. They want more, because deep within they know there must be more.

Such people become seekers. For them life becomes a process of continued growth towards a deeper and deeper understanding of the spiritual side of life. Sometimes the growth can seem slow, and it can even feel like you are getting nowhere. Yet suddenly a breakthrough can occur and you find a wealth of new ideas that instantly open up new horizons and make you feel alive and growing.

What does it take to become a seeker? Some have been seekers since childhood. Some are awakened by the realization that there are certain questions they simply have to have answered. Some are awakened by a personal crisis. Others are awakened by the maturity that comes with advancing years and changing priorities. Yet what is the single ingredient that propels a person from merely existing into the vibrant life of a spiritual seeker?

The motor of growth is love

When we grow, we are constantly changing, moving and transcending ourselves. We are willing to let go of our present state of consciousness, our present level of understanding, in the hope of finding something better.

When we are not growing, we stand still, stagnate or perhaps even shrink. We hold on to what we have and what we know. We see no opportunity in growth, but only a threat of losing what makes us feel comfortable.

Growth and anti-growth correspond to two emotions, namely love and fear. Fear is what makes us afraid to change, reluctant to let go of what is familiar and comfortable. Love is what makes us non-attached to what we have and willing to take a risk in order to attain something better.

Only love can propel you from a fear-based approach to life into the realm of the spiritual seeker. You must love something so much that you are willing to leave the certainty and comfort of what you have in order to find what you love.

For many seekers this love comes spontaneously, and they have little understanding of how it happens. Yet it is possible to consciously cultivate this love. This can often be done by examining your inner desires to find out which aspects of life give you the greatest joy. Discover your innermost love, your strongest curiosity and you will discover the key to your awakening as a spiritual seeker.

Do you love to learn new things, to feel that you suddenly understand something that was hazy before? Do you love beauty and sense that there must be an underlying beauty to the universe? Do you love knowledge and feel that life somehow must make sense? Do you love truth and feel that there must be a reality beyond the many man-made theories and belief systems? Do you love a spiritual being, such as Jesus or God, and feel a desire to be closer to them? Do you love something deep within yourself and feel that there must be more to your own being than the limited, mortal person you were brought up to be?

Discover your innermost love and curiosity, and then nourish it by giving it your attention. Study the topic from all angles, including outer spiritual or religious teachings. Contemplate spiritual ideas and allow a deeper part of your mind to give you answers as your conscious mind is ready.

So many people look at life through a filter of existing beliefs based on an outer belief system. As you allow your love and curiosity to help you look beyond such mental boxes, you will discover that you have the ability to find answers that make sense from a source inside yourself. You begin to realize that life is a journey of discovery and that all discovery is self-discovery.

Discover the real Jesus

So many people have been brought up with a rigid view of Jesus, and their relationship to him is boxed in by doctrines and rituals. Yet even the best doctrines and ritual are boxes that exist in this world. Today, Jesus is a spiritual being who resides in a higher realm. Therefore, no box in this world can contain and confine the real Jesus. He is more, much more, than any of the boxes, no matter how complete or infallible they claim to be.

So if you love Jesus, decide that you want to know the real Jesus and then have the courage to look beyond all of the doctrines and mental boxes. If you are willing, this website can show you many glimpses of the real Jesus and his true, spiritual teachings. Yet no outer teaching can ever give you the fullness of who Jesus is.

So please do not confine your search for the real Jesus to this website. Instead, use the tools on this site to go deeply within your heart and develop a personal, inner, intuitive relationship to Jesus. Allow Jesus to reveal his Presence to you, and let him do so the only place it could possibly happen, namely in your heart!

This website cannot show you the real Jesus. It can show you the way to discover the real Jesus, but you must walk that path on your own.

I am the open door, but you must walk through it.
Jesus

The Four Deadly Christian Assumptions

By Kim Michaels

Is your Christian faith based on the rock of inner understanding or the shifting sand of man-made assumptions?

“Today, many people have opened their minds to a higher understanding of spiritual matters than what is found in traditional doctrines. Many more people can bear the higher truth, and therefore Jesus has appeared to give us that truth.”

For many mainstream Christians, the following assumptions are an integral part of their faith, yet what if these assumptions were out of touch with the reality of what Jesus taught? Would you want to know?

If so, let us take a look at these assumptions:

  • If I met Jesus today – or if I had been alive 2,000 years ago – I would instantly recognize him as the Living Christ.
  • If I recognized the Living Christ – even if he appeared in an unexpected form – I would accept him and heed his word.
  • If Jesus walked into my church today, he would approve of everything he saw.
  • If Jesus really could speak to us today, he would never say anything that contradicted or went beyond the doctrines, beliefs and practices of my church.

Unfortunately, there is virtually no scriptural support for any of these assumptions. In fact, if you read the scriptures carefully, you will see that Jesus made a deliberate effort to contradict all of these assumptions (most Jews had the exact same assumptions about their religion). Jesus deliberately sought to shake people out of their rigid and comfortable approach to religion. Let us compare each assumption to what the scriptures actually show us.

Assumption No. 1: If I met Jesus today I would instantly recognize him as the Living Christ.

Hindsight is always 20/20. Christians have spent 2,000 years building a culture around the person of Jesus. If you have grown up in this culture, it is natural for you to assume that you would instantly recognize Jesus. After all, he always appeared in perfectly clean white robes with a halo around his head, so how could you fail to see that he was not like other men?

Yet the scriptures abundantly show that most of the people who met Jesus in the flesh did not recognize him as the Messiah or as the Living Christ. Why? Because he looked like any other man. That is why it was necessary that Judas betray him—the soldiers who came to arrest him could not tell him apart from his disciples.

Jesus himself made it clear that most people cannot recognize the Living Christ:

15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. (Matthew, Chapter 16)

In other words, “flesh and blood” cannot reveal the Living Christ. What is “flesh and blood?” Could it be the human mind, the human state of consciousness, which Paul called the “carnal mind?” (1Corinthians 3:3) What if most people are in a state of consciousness where they simply cannot recognize the Living Christ?

But surely, those who are truly religious and who have faithfully followed the doctrines and beliefs of the “only true” Christian church” (however you define that church) would instantly recognize the Living Christ. If so, how come those who had followed the doctrines and beliefs of the Jewish religion (which they considered the only true religion) did not recognize the Living Christ? These were the very people – the scribes, lawyers, Pharisees, Sadducees and temple priests – who plotted against Jesus and eventually got him crucified.

What will it take for a human being to recognize the Living Christ? What if we need to raise our consciousness? What if we need to follow Paul’s call to:

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: (Philippians 2:5)

Perhaps only when we allow the mind of Christ to be in us can we recognize the Living Christ? Incidentally, one of the main themes on this website is that you need to put on the mind of Christ. There are numerous teachings and techniques for how to accomplish this goal.

Assumption No. 2: If I recognized the Living Christ – even if he appeared in an unexpected form – I would accept him and heed his word.

We have just seen that many of the most religious people of his time did not recognize Jesus as the Messiah. The reason was that Jesus appeared in an unexpected form. Perhaps the Living Christ always appears in an unexpected form?

Perhaps this is part of the challenge—will people be willing to look beyond their preconceived opinions in order to recognize the Living Christ? Will they be willing to leave behind those opinions to accept the Living Christ and heed his (or her) words?

Consider how Jesus gathered his disciples. Imagine that you are walking down the street and an intense-looking man comes up to you and says, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” (Matthew 4:19). Would you “straightway” leave everything to follow him?

The scriptures make it abundantly clear that many people heard Jesus teach, saw him perform miracles and healings, yet they were not willing to leave their familiar circumstances, beliefs or lifestyle in order to truly follow the words of the Living Christ. Why? Because to follow Christ you have to be willing to leave behind everything!

You have to be willing to leave your nets, which could be interpreted to include your existing religious beliefs. That is why so many of the most religious people were unwilling to follow Jesus. They were too attached to the beliefs and practices – the nets – with which they were familiar.

Is it hard to see that in today’s world many Christians are also attached to their beliefs, practices and lifestyle? Is it hard to imagine that if the Living Christ appeared today and said something that was outside of mainstream doctrines, then many Christians would reject him and refuse to heed his words?

This leads us to the next assumption.

Assumption No. 3: If Jesus walked into my church today, he would approve of everything he saw.

If you read the scriptures with an open mind, it is not hard to see that this could be a very dangerous assumption. Jesus did not make a habit of agreeing with the religious authorities of his time. He repeatedly challenged the scribes, the Pharisees, the Sadducees, the lawyers and even the temple priests. Is there really any reason to believe that he would agree with the religious authorities of our time, even though they call themselves Christians and claim to be representatives of Christ on Earth?

Let us look at the scriptures. One of the most startling rebukes of the religious establishment was given in Matthew 5:20:

For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

This is a rather shocking statement because the scribes and Pharisees considered themselves as belonging to the people who were guaranteed entry into the kingdom of Heaven. What basis did they have for this certainty? They believed they were doing everything right, and they based it on the fact that they knew every letter of the outer law and that they were following it—to the letter. They could recite the scriptures, they observed all the rules, they never committed acts that were defined as sinful and they participated in all the religious rituals. What more could be necessary to gain entry into the kingdom?

Well, according to Jesus something more is indeed necessary. Jesus repeatedly rebuked those who did their alms in public (Matthew 6:1), who prayed in public (Matthew 6:5) and who in other ways overtly displayed their devotion. What did Jesus want? Consider Matthew, Chapter 15:

15 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.
16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?

So Jesus obviously wanted his followers to have understanding of his teachings, but he did not want them to simply recite outer scriptures. He wanted them to truly internalize his teachings and turn it into deep, inner faith. Why isn’t it enough to follow outer rules and doctrines; why do you need inner qualities before you can enter the kingdom? Perhaps it has something to do with where the kingdom is located. Consider Luke, Chapter 17:

20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

How many of today’s Christian churches have built a culture that is strikingly similar to the culture of the scribes and Pharisees? How many Christians seriously believe that they will automatically be saved, because they belong to the only true Christian church, they believe its doctrines, they follow its rules and they participate in its rituals? How many believe they will automatically be saved by the mere act that they have declared Jesus Christ to be their Lord and Savior?

Yet what if these people are dancing around a golden calf of their own making, a human idol that is out of alignment with the reality of Jesus’ teachings? According to this idol, the key to entering the kingdom is to observe all the outer rules, so how could they possibly miss the kingdom. They can miss it because they continue to look for it outside themselves.

If the kingdom of God is within us, how could we possibly hope to enter that kingdom by performing outer acts? Does it not seem logical that we need to perform inner acts; we need to change our attitude to life and our approach to religion, we need to gain true understanding and we need to allow perfect love to cast out our fears (1John 4:18). We need to stop focusing on the outer aspects of religion and find an inner approach to religion. We need to:

And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 18:3).

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: (Philippians 2:5).

In other words, perhaps the real, inner message that Jesus came to bring is that the true way to enter the kingdom of God – the inner kingdom – is to raise our state of consciousness by putting on the wedding garment. Unless we put on this wedding garment – which might be the mind of Christ – we shall be bound hand and foot (by our own false beliefs) and cast into outer darkness (Matthew 22:13). This darkness exists in our own minds in the form of a false sense of righteousness that causes us to focus on outer things instead of truly internalizing the mind of Christ.

So if you carefully read the scriptures and look at how often Jesus challenged the religious establishment, are you still sure he would approve of everything that is going on in your church? Or are you open to the idea that over the past 2,000 years Christianity might have deviated from the true, inner message of Jesus? Are you perhaps open to the idea that mainstream Christianity has replaced Jesus’ inner message with an outer message, a man-made doctrine and culture that is beautiful on the outside but might be full of dead men’s bones and therefore be unsuited as a vehicle for getting you to the kingdom?

Assumption No. 4: If Jesus really could speak to us today, he would never say anything that contradicted or went beyond the doctrines, beliefs and practices of my church.

If this assumption was true, then why did Jesus systematically challenge the doctrines, beliefs and practices of the Jewish religion? Was it only because that religion was not Christian, and therefore Christianity can never fall into the same trap of becoming rigid and focused on outer rituals? Or was Jesus actually challenging a universal problem that can be seen in most religions, namely that religions tend to gradually become more rigid and stifled? Was jesus challenging the Jewish religion precisely because it had replaced the inner path to a higher state of consciousness with rigid adherence of outer doctrines and rituals?

Could it be that all religions have a tendency to become rigid, and then they begin to advocate blind faith and a blind adherence to outer rituals? Is that why Jesus said:

12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?

13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch (Matthew, Chapter 15).

Is it possible that Jesus challenged the religious authorities because they had set themselves up as the only link between man and God? The Jewish culture was based on the belief that the only road to salvation was through the outer religion and the priests who controlled that religion. Do you see parallels to what some Christian churches claim today and what many Christians believe?

Jesus did and said many things to challenge this culture of blindly following the leaders of an outer religion. For example, he healed a man on the sabbath (Matthew 12:10) and allowed his disciples to pluck corn on the sabbath (Matthew 12:1). Yet his most powerful challenge to the religious establishment was the seemingly simple statement that the kingdom of God is within us. This statement challenged the very foundation of the power of the outer religion. It states simply that we don’t need an outer church and an outer church hierarchy to reach God. Why not? How could you need something outside yourself to get to the kingdom of God when the kingdom of God is within you?

So is it realistic to believe that if the real, living Jesus Christ were to speak to us today, his every word would conform to the doctrines and beliefs of mainstream Christian churches?

Or is it more likely that he would challenge those churches for having set themselves up as the only link between man and God and the only road to salvation? Would he not challenge any church for taking away “the key of knowledge” as the lawyers had done (Luke 11:52)?

If you are open to any of these ideas, then study this website and allow the real, living Jesus Christ to tell you what you need to know in this age—even if it contradicts or goes beyond the doctrines you have been brought up to believe represent the only truth. Truly, only that which is based on the mind of Christ can be truth, yet it is a Living Truth that is never static or rigid. The reason being that as we expand our understanding, Jesus can give us a deeper truth than he could give us 2,000 years ago. Don’t believe this? Just listen to Jesus’ own words:

I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. (John 16:12)

Today, many people have opened their minds to a higher understanding of spiritual matters than what is found in traditional doctrines. Many more people can bear the higher truth, and therefore Jesus has appeared to give us that truth. So allow Jesus to give you the Living Word and the Living Truth that he wants all people to have in this age. Receive his cup of truth and understanding—and drink ye all of it!
