Why
is the Jesus on this website not like the loving New Age Jesus?
Or
how do deal with people who accuse you of being unloving when you challenge
their beliefs
NOTE:
This teaching was given on August 17, 2006, after the NEW
DIRECTION was implemented.
Kim: Jesus, I received
the following letter and wonder if you have any comments, especially
in light of your comments on the latest challenging letter I received.
Dearest Kim and your Christ Self,
In my humble opinion there can be no channeling higher than the state
of consciousness of the channeler. This means that every channeling
is colored by the personality of the channeler. This seems to be an
irreversible spiritual law. I truly honor and respect the work of
Living Light that you and your wife are doing. However, I have to
say that there is to be seen and felt the same kind of spiritual arrogance
and higher form of black-and-white thinking as with the Summit Lighthouse.
I say this lovingly as a fellow human being who is also committed
to the path of personal Christhood. You are channeling Jesus through
your own Christ Self and your own personality. And the unknowable
magnificence and true spiritual splendor of Jesus Christ is surely
limited and eclipsed by that fact. In your self-righteousness you
should not equate your personality/Christ Self with Jesus Christ.
Because my Christ Self is as valuable as your Christ Self. Every human
being is channeling Jesus Christ and all other spiritual Masters in
their own unique ways. True seekers do not compare and do not judge
others. For them there is only One Humanity and One Love. My fellow
human being on the path of personal Christhood Kim, do not give the
impression that you have the monopoly on Jesus Christ and his Living
Words. By infallibly judging others in His channeled words colored
by your own present state of consciousness you are in reality showing
your own challenges of spiritual growth and the hiding places of your
own ego. For me Jesus Christ is the living symbol of unconditional
love and immeasurable forgiveness. He is the One who always compassionately
understands every human condition and accepts us all without conditions.
I love you and your website but the harsh judgment of so-called fundamentalist
Christians and eastern Gurus, and putting all other channeled material
on a secondary place simply does not ring true in the deepest part
of my soul. That does not feel or sound like the Jesus Christ living
in the heart of every human being. More like a Jesus channeled and
colored by Kim's own Christ Self and personality. Very interesting
and high level channeling - but in no way the whole truth of Jesus
Christ.
Yours lovingly and truly, O
Jesus: Let me first say that I appreciate this kind
of response. Kim has for some time wanted me to comment on some of the
issues raised in this letter, but I did not want him to raise the questions.
I wanted them to be raised by visitors.
Let me also say that this letter is clearly of a different vibration
than the response upon which I recently
commented. This person has clearly risen above black-and-white thinking,
and I will assume that the readers who are interested in the issues
raised have done the same. Thus, my answer will be tailored to people
who are teachable, as described in the answer I just mentioned. This
is my way of saying that I will give a direct answer suited for mature
students.
There are several main issues that I will comment upon:
-
Issue 1: How is a message
from the Ascended Host affected by the mind of the messenger and
to what extent is that a problem?
-
Issue 2: How should a
mature spiritual seeker approach the many different channelings
and messages found on the internet, many of which do contradict
each other and give different images of ascended beings.
-
Issue 3: What is the
true role of the Living Christ and what does that say about the
way true messages are given?
-
Issue 4: Should true
spiritual teachers challenge people’s illusions or should
they always be kind
-
Issue 5: Who is the
Ascended Jesus Christ and what kind of a teacher am I.
- Issue 6: How should mature
spiritual seekers respond when they find teachings on this website
that challenge their existing beliefs and with which they disagree?
Issue 1: How is a message from the Ascended Host affected by
the mind of the messenger and to what extent is that a problem?
Let me begin with the statement, “In my humble opinion there can
be no channeling higher than the state of consciousness of the channeler.
This means that every channeling is colored by the personality of the
channeler.” There are three potential reactions to this statement:
-
People below a certain
level of spiritual maturity will say the statement is not true,
or at least that it is not true for their channeler or messenger.
Their messenger is of such a high level that the messages are not
colored. The reason people say this is that they are still at the
level of black-and-white thinking, so they need a messenger who
appears to have infallible authority. We of the Ascended Host are
quite aware of this need and thus we sometimes have to reinforce
this impression in order to reach certain groups of people. That
is why several religions or spiritual movements have teachings that
can be interpreted as meaning that this is the only true religion.
As a demonstration, notice how many of the challenging
responses reject this website because it does not have the authority
these people demand.
-
People at a higher level
of maturity will say the statement is always true and that this
means no messenger is completely reliable. The reason is that these
people have gone beyond the need for unquestionable authority and
have started thinking for themselves. The question is whether such
people will rise to the next level or get stuck in gray
thinking, which I will comment on later.
- At the next level, people
realize that the statement has some truth to it but that there is
a higher understanding. So what is the higher understanding?
The principle behind all
viable channeling/messengership is that a Being in the spiritual realm
gives a message through a person in physical embodiment. Very few people
in embodiment have the same level of consciousness as spiritual beings.
Therefore, if the message does come from the spiritual realm, it will
be given from a higher state of consciousness than that of the messenger.
Thus, if a messenger is not able to convey a message from a higher state
of consciousness, he/she is simply not a viable messenger.
Thus, ALL viable channelings/messages are higher than the state of consciousness
of the messenger. If they were not, how could they possible convey to
sensitive recipients the inner knowing that the message did not simply
come from the messenger’s own mind? Now, I think Kim is a relatively
intelligent person, but if you seriously think he could have come up
with the teachings on this website, you have a far too high opinion
of him.
There is, however, a truth to the statement in that the level of consciousness
of the messenger will determine and limit the type of messages that
can be given through that person. For example, in the spiritual realm
we do not think or communicate in the same words and concepts used in
the material realm. Thus, our messages must be “translated”
from our language into the language used by the messenger. I am not
here talking about English or Greek, but the “language”
of concepts, images and words in general.
This translation process is unquestionably affected by the messenger’s
mind, including the messenger’s cultural background and his/her
knowledge of spiritual and material topics. For example, I have mentioned
several times that because Kim has a limited understanding of health
and diet, he is not the best messenger concerning such topics. He simply
does not have the “vocabulary” to translate my teachings
into words.
It is also true that the messenger’s level of consciousness and
internalization of spiritual concepts will limit the messages that can
be brought forth. It is possible to be a genuine messenger before one
has attained the full Christ consciousness, and we certainly do not
require our messengers to be perfect human beings—as that would
decrease the selection dramatically. So it is quite true that one messenger
can give a higher and more correct image of an ascended being, such
as myself, than another messenger. And some messengers can bring forth
higher messages than others. Yet is that really a problem?
It would be extremely constructive for mature spiritual seekers to realize
that when the Ascended Host bring forth a message, we are NOT trying
to bring forth a message that is meant for all people or is meant to
stand for all time. A specific messenger is NOT meant to reach everyone
on this planet, but is meant to reach people at a certain level of consciousness
and bring them higher. Thus, when we select a messenger for a specific
group of people, we choose one whose consciousness is higher than the
target audience, but not too much higher. This makes it easier for the
audience to identify with the messenger and the messenger can bring
forth messages that reflect the state of consciousness of the audience
while still lifting them higher. Thus, the fact that the messenger has
a certain level of consciousness – possibly with certain limitations
as well as cultural and personal idiosyncrasies – is not necessarily
a problem. However, this fact can be interpreted incorrectly, as I will
explain later.
If the messenger is willing, he/she will continually seek to raise his/her
state of consciousness, so that we can bring forth increasingly higher
messages through that person. This will also give the target audience
an opportunity to climb beyond the level of the initial messages. This
growth process will cause the messenger to grow out of personal opinions
and idiosyncrasies. Thus, it simply is not correct to say that, “This
means that every channeling is colored by the personality of the channeler.
This seems to be an irreversible spiritual law.” There is no spiritual
law limiting what can be brought forth through a messenger.
It is quite possible for a messenger to reach a level of Christ consciousness
and non-attachment in which messages are not colored by the outer personality
of the messenger in the sense that the messages become incorrect or
conform to the messenger’s personal opinions. They will be colored
by the messenger’s knowledge, concepts and language, but this
is above the level of outer personality and personal opinions. In other
words, it is perfectly acceptable that messages are affected by the
messenger's mind, as long as they are not distorted or eclipsed by personal
opinions and unresolved psychology.
It should also be taken into account that certain messages can be tailored
to a specific audience and thus to some degree adapted to their beliefs
and world view. It is also possible that a messenger can be asked to
say something that does not reflect the messenger’s opinions but
is meant to provoke people and cause them to rethink their beliefs and
opinions. In fact, all true messengers must pass the test of being willing
to let us say something that the messenger would prefer not to say.
For example, Kim would prefer not to comment on other messengers or
channelers, but I insist on doing so as I will explain later.
Issue 2: How should
a mature spiritual seeker approach the many different channelings and
messages found on the internet, many of which do contradict each other
and give different images of ascended beings.
As I explain in my latest comments,
there is a very important turning point on the path when you begin to
take responsibility for yourself and become willing to change yourself.
At the beginning stages of this process, people still have some insecurity,
so they look for spiritual teachings that make them feel good, tell
them what they want to hear and don’t challenge their existing
beliefs too much. This is natural, and I am not blaming people for this
reaction. However, there is a limit to how much you can grow as long
as you maintain this approach.
There is also a real danger that you will take a time-consuming detour
into the gray thinking described in my ego
discourse. The process is simple. When you rise above black-and-white
thinking, you will be confronted with the temptation to engage in gray
thinking. Since you no longer believe in an infallible authority, the
ego will seek to make you believe that no messenger or channeler is
completely objective and reliable. Thus, it really doesn’t matter
which one you follow, so you might as well follow one you like. However,
for many people this means they end up following a messenger their egos
like because the teachings do not challenge the ego. What the ego is
really saying is that you should accept no authority as being above
the ego, and thus you should ignore any teacher or teaching that challenges
your ego's pet theories. If you fall into this trap, how will you ever
see through the illusions of the ego?
My point is that when you become a more mature seeker, you realize the
fundamental mechanism behind all true channelings/messages. The simple
fact is that the Ascended Host have a higher state of consciousness
than you do. Thus, your advantage of studying our teachings is that
we can help you see what you cannot see and what your ego does not want
you to see. We can tell you what your ego does not want you to hear
and what students who still identify with their egos do not want to
hear.
It is an eternal fact that immature and insecure students seek out messages
that tell them what they want to hear and never challenge their most
cherished beliefs. In contrast, mature students deliberately seek out
teachings that DO challenge their most cherished beliefs. As you mature,
you realize that the real value of the ascended master’s teachings
is that they do challenge your beliefs, thus compelling you
to reach beyond the ego’s dualistic understanding. This is simply
the only way you will come up higher.
When I talk about challenging your beliefs, I am not simply talking
about the words spoken and the teachings given. I am talking about a
more general approach. In his book Autobiography of a Yogi
– which I highly recommend that all spiritual seekers read –
Paramahansa
Yogananda describes a discussion with his guru about the two main
methods employed by spiritual teachers.
Yogananda’s guru, Shri Yukteswar, is a very stern and direct guru
who openly and often harshly challenges his students and mercilessly
points out flaws in their beliefs, attitude and behavior. Yukteswar
explains that it is simply his way, and that Yogananda’s way is
to be much more gentle, soft-spoken and more patient with his disciples,
preferring them to discover their own flaws rather than pointing them
out. One method is not generally better or more efficient than another,
as each method works best for certain levels of consciousness.
My point here is that there is a large number of spiritual seekers who
are naturally very loving, kind and gentle people, as was Yogananda.
Such students will naturally prefer the gentle type of guru and will
generally shun the direct type of guru, fearing to be hurt by his sternness.
Yet there was a reason Yogananda – who was a gentle guru –
had a stern guru. The reason is that you will make the fastest progress
by selecting a guru that is the opposite of your own type, for this
will give you more balance in your own being. If you are a gentle person,
you need to reach a point where you are not in the least bothered by
a direct guru, and if you are the direct type, you need to learn the
patience of a gentle guru.
This sheds light on the following remark: “I truly honor and respect
the work of Living Light that you and your wife are doing. However,
I have to say that there is to be seen and felt the same kind of spiritual
arrogance and higher form of black-and-white thinking as with the Summit
Lighthouse.” Both Kim and Lorraine are naturally the gentle type
of people, which is precisely why they were both guided to the Summit
Lighthouse, an organization sponsored by El Morya who is a very direct
type of guru. This was done partly for their own growth into balance
but also to prepare them for their mission, so they could master both
the gentle and the direct approach and apply either of them as needed
by a particular student.
It is correct that the Summit Lighthouse brought forth many very stern
and direct messages. However, by selecting the words “spiritual
arrogance and higher form of black-and-white thinking” you demonstrate
that you have not fully understood the purpose of the Summit. The teachings
were tailored to a specific level of consciousness, a level shared by
many seekers who have not come in contact with the Summit. This level
of consciousness needs the stern and direct approach, and what you see
as arrogance and black-and-white thinking is simply the direct and stern
challenge of a level of consciousness that is prone to gray thinking.
As I explain elsewhere,
the Summit was the last organization we could sponsor in the Piscean
dispensation. Thus, it had to challenge the state of consciousness that
causes many people to be stuck in the Piscean initiations.
This consciousness causes students to interpret spiritual teachings
to mean what they want to hear, thus not being able to free themselves
from the dualistic logic of the ego. I can assure you that such students
are very difficult to reach, for some of them truly think they know
better than the ascended masters, even better than God, which is why
they descended to Earth in the first place and have not risen above
it.
So when evaluating a spiritual teaching, be very careful that you do
not project your own beliefs and opinions upon the teaching or the spiritual
master who gives it. If you can see that a message can be affected by
the mind of the messenger, you should be willing to acknowledge that
the mind of the student can also affect how the message is interpreted.
Thus, be willing to look for the beam in your own eye, for it is only
by removing it that YOU will progress.
Another common pitfall is that some seekers focus on the exact outer
form of a given message or a messenger’s work, often comparing
it to other teachings or what the person wants to believe. This has
caused many otherwise open-minded spiritual seekers to become almost
fundamentalists with certain new teachings, splitting hairs over whether
a particular wording is correct according to this or that standard.
Let me tell a little analogy to illustrate this.
Imagine you have grown up in a dark cave. After fumbling your way around
for years, you come upon a tube sticking out of the wall. The tube is
a kaleidoscope, and as you look into it, you see light streaming through
it from outside the cave. As all kaleidoscopes, it has a number of glass
pieces inside it, so the light is somewhat colored as it passes through.
Yet the real significance of your discovery is that it proves beyond
any doubt that THERE IS A WORLD OUTSIDE YOUR DARK CAVE! Thus, instead
of continuing to look at the light through the Kaleidoscope, you can
look for the door so you can enter the light yourself.
The fundamental significance of all true spiritual messages is that
they demonstrate for those who have eyes to see that there is a higher
level of consciousness than the level at which they are trapped. There
are spiritual teachers at that level who can communicate with people
and thus help them rise to the ascended consciousness. As I said 2,000
years ago, “God is a Spirit and they that worship him must worship
him in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24).
The meaning is that genuine messages from the Ascended Host are given
from a higher level of consciousness. The outer form of the messages
is not nearly as significant as the fact that they come from a higher
Spirit. To truly “get the message” we seek to pass on, you
must raise your consciousness and make a direct INNER contact with the
Spirit of Truth that we are. If you focus your attention on the outer
form of the message, you will not attain that direct experience, and
thus our messages will not set you free. Instead, they will simply be
used by your ego to keep you trapped at a certain level of consciousness.
Issue 3: What is the true role of the Living Christ and what
does that say about the way true messages are given?
Let us examine the remark,
“I love you and your website but the harsh judgment of so-called
fundamentalist Christians and eastern Gurus, and putting all other channeled
material on a secondary place simply does not ring true in the deepest
part of my soul.” I am aware that many sincere spiritual seekers
will say that some of the teachings on this website are judgmental toward
other channelers or their messages. Yet is this true?
As I explain in my ego discourses and in
many other places, the essential problem on planet Earth is that people
have descended into a lower state of consciousness in which they are
trapped in what the Buddha called Maya, meaning ignorance and illusion.
The veil of Maya prevents them from seeing the higher truth of the Christ
mind, and instead they can only see the relative “truth”
springing from the mind of anti-christ.
The trick here is that people do not realize their beliefs are relative
illusions; they believe they are absolutely true and this is why they
are still stuck in those beliefs. How can a spiritual teacher help people
rise higher? Only by challenging people’s illusions so they gradually
purify their minds of the illusions and begin to see the truth of Christ.
My point being that the role of the Living Christ and the true purpose
of genuine messages from above is to CHALLENGE PEOPLE’S BELIEFS.
I stated this clearly 2,000 years ago, when I said:
Think not that
I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a
sword. (Matthew 10:34)
I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already
kindled? (Luke 12:49)
For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the
daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother
in law. (Matthew 10:35)
The deeper meaning is that
the greatest threat to people’s spiritual growth is the unwillingness
to move, the unwillingness to transcend one’s current beliefs.
Thus, in order to get people moving, the Living Christ must challenge
people’s beliefs in such a provocative way that they simply cannot
ignore it, cannot remain indifferent or cannot remain convinced that
they know everything. In fact, it is better that people reject our truth
than remain indifferent:
15 I know thy works,
that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I
will spue thee out of my mouth. (Revelation, Chapter 3)
Take note that there is a
subtle truth here which many spiritual seekers have not understood.
It is a fact that even a genuine spiritual teaching given by the Ascended
Host can be used by the ego to trap people at a certain level of consciousness,
where people feel they have it all figured out and thus become inflexible
and unwilling to move higher. Therefore, it can sometimes be necessary
for the Living Christ to challenge viewpoints that are technically correct
but that people’s egos have used to imprison them on a certain
level of the path.
We of the Ascended Host recognize fully that as soon as a teaching is
expressed in words, it enters the realm of duality where it becomes
subject to interpretation. People simply project their own state of
consciousness upon the teaching and interpret it to mean what their
egos want to hear. Thus, we have no illusions whatsoever about bringing
forth an ultimate teaching that is the infallible word of God, as the
fundamentalists claim about the Bible. In fact, we often find it necessary
to bring forth teachings that deliberately challenge beliefs that imprison
large groups of people. We sometimes even have to bring forth a new
teaching that challenges the mindset of people who have used a previous
teaching to get themselves stuck.
My point here is that wise students will recognize that what holds them
back on the path is the erroneous beliefs that they believe to be true.
Thus, wise students will deliberately seek out teachers or teachings
that challenge their existing beliefs, attitude to life and approach
to the spiritual path. In contrast, the yet immature students will look
for teachings that affirm what they already believe, thus “confirming”
that they are on the right track—which is exactly what the ego
wants them to believe.
The inevitable consequence is that immature students are stuck in either
black-and-white or gray thinking. Those who are stuck in gray thinking
tend to believe that virtually any teaching is as good as any other
teaching, so they might as well select the most pleasant one. The remark
“Every human being is channeling Jesus Christ and all other spiritual
Masters in their own unique ways.” is a typical example of gray
thinking.
Many of the students who have matured above black-and-white thinking
have become enticed by an incorrect view of love that is floating around
in the New Age and even the progressive Christian community. The view
says that love is tolerant of everything and never challenges anything.
Thus, any teaching which is direct and challenging cannot be from the
highest source (more on this later).
The real consciousness behind both black-and-white and gray thinking
is a tendency to believe that you know how the ascended masters should
express themselves. This is only a short step away from the consciousness
of the fallen angels who are firmly convinced they know better than
God how the universe works and how humankind should be saved.
This is a very dangerous place for a spiritual seeker to be. The reason
being that even though you have risen above black-and-white thinking,
you are still not teachable for a true spiritual teacher. No true teacher
will compromise truth in order to tell you what you want to hear. As
I explain in the ego discourses, what caused people to get stuck in
the duality consciousness was that they lost contact with their spiritual
teachers. The key to overcoming the duality consciousness is that you
must establish a direct, personal contact with the Spirit of Truth,
the Christ consciousness.
All outer teachings given by the Ascended Host are given for the purpose
of providing a bridge. If the students make the best possible use of
the teaching, they can walk across the bridge and attain the Christ
consciousness. In other words, the true purpose of a spiritual teacher
is NOT to impart outer knowledge but to impart the teacher’s consciousness
to the student.
Yet if students refuse to use the teaching or if they allow their egos
to misuse the teaching, they will not reestablish the direct, inner
connection to the ascended teachers. Thus, their egos can even use an
otherwise genuine teaching to keep the students separated from the teachers
while being convinced that they are so advanced that they are guaranteed
to be saved. This is self-righteousness, and I denounced it forcefully
in the scribes and Pharisees.
In short, if you are a smart spiritual seeker, you will look for a teaching
which challenges you to see what you cannot see on your own. If you
are following a teaching which does not challenge you, it is time to
look for another one that will challenge you. If you are not
willing to let a spiritual teaching challenge you, you simply have not
become fully teachable. I realize some people are not yet ready to let
go of their most cherished illusions. Yet a word to the wise should
be sufficient.
Issue 4: Should true spiritual teachers challenge people’s
illusions or should they always be kind?
I have already answered this question, but it bears further comment.
Take the remark, “True seekers do not compare and do not judge
others. For them there is only One Humanity and One Love.” It
is correct that true spiritual seekers do not judge, but it MUST be
understood that there is a fundamental difference between judgment and
discernment. Judgment is when you have a personal attachment, and thus
you project your own consciousness upon others. Discernment is when
you have no attachment and simply compare other people’s beliefs
and actions to Christ truth, thus separating truth from untruth.
As I said, you can only grow by being willing to challenge the beliefs
that you think are correct but that miss the mark of Christ truth. Thus,
a spiritual teacher can ONLY help a student by separating truth from
error and giving the student the opportunity to choose. As long as a
person is completely enveloped in the veil of Maya, that person has
no real option to choose truth because he or she has never experienced
Christ truth. Thus, the role of a true spiritual teacher or messenger
is to give people that option.
Yet until students reach the point where they are willing to challenge
their most cherished beliefs, they will resist this action and they
will often resent the teacher—biting the hand that feeds them.
People in black-and-white thinking will project their fears upon any
challenging teaching, saying that if it disagrees with their only true
teaching it must be of the devil. People in gray thinking will project
their incorrect
view of love upon a teaching, saying that if it challenges their
beliefs, it cannot be from the highest source. My point being that a
wise student will consider the following: “Are the teachings on
this website truly judgmental and the expression of spiritual arrogance
and higher black-and-white thinking, or do I see them as such because
there is a beam in my own eye that I need to remove?” This is
the attitude that leads to progress.
You might also consider the situation faced by the Ascended Host. We
clearly see that people are stuck in certain illusions. We see through
those illusions and we see that people cannot see through them. We also
see that many people are reluctant to let go of the illusions, yet the
illusions block their growth. Should we be “loving” and
not challenge people’s illusions, or should we do the only thing
that can help people grow, namely challenge their illusions? If you
prefer the former, you are not yet teachable for a true spiritual teacher
and will make yourself a follower of the false teachers who will –
to the end of time – tell you what you want to hear.
When you are trapped in gray
thinking, you think any teaching should be as "good" as any
other teaching and thus a loving teacher would never label anyone else
as a false teacher. Yet the consequence of this belief is that you either
ignore the existence of false teachers or truly believe there are no
false teachings. This is only possible when you completely ignore the
myriad of atrocities that are occurring on this planet, and I am fully
aware that many spiritual seekers go around with their heads in the
clouds, saying, "See no evil, hear no evil."
The reality is that humankind
needs true spiritual teachers precisely because for a long time they
have been following the false teachers. As part of our job, the true
spiritual teachers must expose the false teachers and their teachings.
Doing so is not unloving—it is the highest form of love. Allowing
people to remain in their ignorance and illusion would be truly unloving.
Issue 5: Who is the Ascended Jesus Christ and what kind of a
teacher am I.
What concerns me the most about the above letter is the following remark:
“My fellow human being on the path of personal Christhood Kim,
do not give the impression that you have the monopoly on Jesus Christ
and his Living Words. By infallibly judging others in His channeled
words colored by your own present state of consciousness you are in
reality showing your own challenges of spiritual growth and the hiding
places of your own ego. For me Jesus Christ is the living symbol of
unconditional love and immeasurable forgiveness. He is the One who always
compassionately understands every human condition and accepts us all
without conditions.”
There are two options here. Either the person writing this has not spent
sufficient time studying this website or I have not done a very good
job of revealing who I really am. So let me make another
attempt at demonstrating who I am.
I earlier talked about two different kinds of teachers, namely the direct
type and the gentle type. I am fully aware that there is a widespread
perception in the New Age and progressive Christian community that the
ascended Jesus Christ, the real Jesus Christ, is a very gentle and loving
teacher. Yet how did this perception come into being and how come so
many sincere and open-minded spiritual seekers have come to believe
in it?
If you take an unbiased look at the New Testament, even the Gospel of
Thomas, you will see that there is no historical basis for seeing me
as a gentle teacher. I was constantly challenging the scribes and Pharisees
and often did so in a very direct – some will say harsh and judgmental
– manner:
Ye are of your
father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was
a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because
there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his
own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (John 8:44)
I also challenged my own
disciples and exposed their illusions. I challenged the general Jewish
attitude that they were God’s chosen people by reaching out to
everyone the Jews considered outcasts. By telling people to turn the
other cheek, I challenged the way just about every human being interacts
with his or her fellow men. So based on the scriptures, one would have
to say that the historical Jesus was a very direct teacher. The entire
purpose of my mission was to challenge people’s illusions, and
I did so with no restrictions whatsoever.
How come so many progressive spiritual seekers do not see this? Part
of the reason is that they generally reject the official scriptures
and say they were tainted by people’s mindset at the time. Thus,
they use this as a justification for saying the scriptures paint an
incorrect image of the real Jesus. Incidentally, it is correct, as I
state throughout this website, that the scriptures were affected by
the mindset of the people who brought forth and received the scriptures—a
fact I wish all Christians would acknowledge. However, it is not correct
that the scriptures paint an entirely false image of me. I was truly
a very direct teacher.
There are those who will say that even if I was a very direct teacher
back then, I have now become entirely loving. They will base this partly
on a number of false channelings, such as the Aquarian
Gospel of Jesus Christ, a number of channelings by Sananda
and by other beings who claim to be me. They will also base their image
of a gentle Jesus on an unbalanced interpretation of certain otherwise
valid teachings, such as A
Course in Miracles.
The reality here is that – as a deliberate attempt to destroy
the possibility that my true teachings can be resurrected in this age,
as is the real purpose for this website – a group of false teachers
(in and out of embodiment) have put forth a massive effort to create
a false image of Jesus as a gentle teacher who is so loving that he
tolerates every kind of human behavior. Many people have fallen for
this because it allows their egos to justify that these people continue
in their ways, thus justifying any kind of lifestyle or beliefs by the
new, loving Jesus. This is true both in the New Age movement and in
the potentially more progressive Christian movements.
In reality, this image of a loving and kind Jesus portrays me as having
no personality or individuality. It essentially describes a non-person.
Any spiritual teacher and even a messenger is allowed to express his
or her true, spiritual identity – not to be confused with
the human, ego-based identity – through his or her work. The reason
is that as a spiritual seeker you must always be willing to look behind
outer appearances – including the personality of the teacher –
in order to reach for the Spirit of Truth. In fact, many genuine spiritual
teachers deliberately portray a certain personality, even human flaws,
as a way to quickly sort out the students who are not teachable because
they are still focused on appearances.
However, how come even many mature and progressive spiritual seekers
have accepted this false Jesus? The reason is that these people have
risen above the black-and-white thinking. Thus, they clearly see that
mainstream Christianity is still stuck in black-and-white thinking,
as explained in the book.
These people see that Christianity has created a false Jesus, namely
a black-and-white Jesus. The hellfire and brimstone preachers have portrayed
me as one of their kind, as a judge who will send people to hell unless
they blindly follow the dictates of the fundamentalist preachers.
What many spiritual seekers do not see is that the black-and-white image
of Jesus represents one dualistic extreme. And the gentle and loving
Jesus represents the opposite dualistic extreme. As I explain in the
ego discourses, many of the more mature spiritual seekers have escaped
the black-and-white extreme only to jump straight into the gray extreme.
So where is the true Jesus to be found?
I am to be found only by following what the Buddha called the Middle
Way, which is also the way I taught to my disciples. This is not a compromise
between the two dualistic extremes, for it requires you to raise your
consciousness and transcend both extremes. The ego thinks truth must
be found in either one dualistic extreme, in the other extreme or somewhere
in between. The Christ is above all dualistic viewpoints.
Every ascended being has risen above the human, dualistic state of consciousness,
including human love. Human love is conditional and possessive. “In
order to be worthy to receive my love, you have to live up to this and
that condition.” Clearly, mainstream Christianity has portrayed
me as a being with this kind of conditional love, with the conditions
defined by the leaders of the Christian churches. This is a fallacy,
but it is equally incorrect to jump to the opposite extreme, which says
that unconditional love means that any human trait is acceptable.
In reality, I love every human being on Earth, and I love every human
being with a love that is completely without conditions. This means
that there is absolutely nothing you could do to lose my love for you.
No matter what mistakes you might have made or what beliefs, attitudes
or actions you display, you are still worthy of my love. I love you
regardless of who you see yourself as being right now.
However – and here comes the one thing that people in gray thinking
fail to understand – the fact that I love YOU unconditionally
does not mean that I love your imperfect beliefs, self-destructive attitudes
and karma-making actions. In other words, I love the real you, your
conscious self and true
individuality. I do not love your ego and the human sense of identity
that traps you below your highest potential. In other words, I love
your container of self, but I do not necessarily love all the contents
you have chosen to put into that container.
Precisely because my love for you is unconditional, I will not accept
any conditions that keep you from being and expressing your highest
potential and true individuality. Thus, I will constantly do everything
in my power to help you rise above such limitations. And if you have
developed an emotional attachment to some of your current beliefs, I
will – if I think it constructive – be very direct in challenging
those beliefs. In fact, because my love for you is unconditional, I
am willing to run the risk that you will allow your ego to trick you
into rejecting my attempts to free you, possibly even rejecting me and
my directness, instead preferring the loving Jesus who does not challenge
your ego.
I could go on at great length, continuing to expound on this point,
but I think that for those who are ready to come up higher, the point
has been made and a word to the wise will be sufficient. Thus, the real
question is: “Will you BE with me – the real Jesus Christ
– or will you NOT be with me?”
Issue 6: How should mature spiritual seekers respond when they
find teachings on this website that challenge their existing beliefs
and with which they disagree?
Let me attempt to make it very clear that my remarks here should NOT
be misconstrued as meaning that people should uncritically accept what
is presented on this and the other websites, taking every word as an
infallible gospel. As I have attempted to explain, the purpose of any
true teaching is to give the student a stepping stone for reaching beyond
the outer teaching to the Spirit of Truth – the Ascended Host
– from which the teaching came. The teaching is a lifeline that
is meant to guide you to the source of the teaching.
My point being that you should always strive to go beyond the outer
words of the teaching and reach for an inner understanding that takes
you higher than the teaching. The responsibility of a messenger is to
bring forth a teaching that is as pure as possible. The responsibility
of a student is to reach beyond the outer teaching, thereby transcending
any impurities in the teaching. As long as you connect to the source,
any imperfections in the teaching are not important. And if you do not
reach for the source, even a perfect teaching – if such a thing
existed – would not guarantee your salvation.
The potential pitfall is - as always – the ego’s two extremes:
The way out is to realize
what I just said above. You must use the teaching only as a stepping
stone for reaching for the source of the teaching. The Ascended Host
are above both black-and-white and gray thinking. So unless you are
willing to look beyond your current state of consciousness, you simply
cannot make contact with us. You will remain stuck at your current level
of consciousness, using your interpretation of the outer teaching to
justify not reaching higher.
In that respect, let me make a very clear statement. If you find yourself
analyzing, judging or criticizing a teaching or the messenger who brings
it forth – especially if you find yourself thinking you know better
how the teaching should be given – you should immediately see
this as a danger signal. You can ALWAYS count on such thoughts to come
from your ego and the dark spirits that I described in my comments
on another letter, namely the Spoilers. Thus, you should realize
that what makes you vulnerable to the energies of the Spoilers is that
you have certain dualistic beliefs. And the intensity of your feelings
about the teaching is a measure of how strong your attachment is to
those beliefs.
The unwise students use the imperfections seen in others (in reality
projected upon others by their egos) for not changing themselves. Wise
students are always looking for the beam in their own eyes and welcome
any opportunity to see it and pull it out. Thus, when a wise student
comes across a teaching on this website or in any other spiritual teaching
that challenges one of his existing beliefs, he or she considers the
question: "Does my resistance to the teaching come from the fact
that I am attached to a certain illusion?" If you discover such
an attachment, a wise student always brings it out in the open and lets
it go. An unwise student finds a flaw in the messenger and the message
and uses it as an excuse for ignoring the attachment.
With this in mind, let me make a few comments about the above letter.
This is not done to single out the person who wrote the letter, but
to expose the consciousness behind the letter. The person writing the
letter is more than that consciousness and has the potential to rise
above it, as do everyone who is temporarily caught in this consciousness.
As a wise spiritual student, you should always try to expose your ego,
and one of the best ways is to look for inconsistencies and contradictions
in your beliefs, statements or actions. The reason being that the ego
is always projecting its own viewpoints upon others. Thus, the ego will
often be very critical of a supposed fault in other people precisely
because it has that fault itself. The ego will accuse others of doing
to it what it is already doing to them—and to you.
The letter starts with the expression, “ In my humble opinion…”
Based on this introduction, one would assume that we are dealing with
a mature person who realizes that he is simply expressing his opinion
and that his opinion is a reflection of his current level of consciousness.
If the person is truly humble, he realizes that there could be a higher
understanding, and thus he does not see his opinion as absolute. Therefore,
he would naturally refrain from making absolutist statements. Yet later
in the letter we do find several absolutist statements:
“there is to be seen and felt the same kind of spiritual arrogance
and higher form of black-and-white thinking as with the Summit Lighthouse.”
“In your self-righteousness you should not equate your personality/Christ
Self with Jesus Christ.”
“do not give the impression that you have the monopoly on Jesus
Christ and his Living Words. By infallibly judging others in His channeled
words colored by your own present state of consciousness you are in
reality showing your own challenges of spiritual growth and the hiding
places of your own ego.”
“the harsh judgment of so-called fundamentalist Christians and
eastern Gurus, and putting all other channeled material on a secondary
place simply does not ring true in the deepest part of my soul.”
These remarks are clearly absolutist and judge Kim without leaving any
hint that the person making them is humbly aware that his opinion might
not be the highest possible. Yet the letter also states: “True
seekers do not compare and do not judge others.”
These remarks demonstrate how subtle the ego can be. The person writing
the letter is convinced that he is loving. Yet he accuses Kim of being
judgmental and of projecting his own judgment upon me. And the way he
does this shows that he is being judgmental of Kim and is projecting
his own judgment upon Kim.
My point here is that judgment takes many forms and can appear to be
loving and kind. In my answer to the previous challenge, I talked about
a band of dark spirits, called the Spoilers, who are always trying to
destroy people's spiritual beliefs. The Spoilers are always projecting
a very judgmental energy, but as everything in the realm of duality,
it has two extremes. The one extreme is the black-and-white judgment
expressed in the first letter. It
is relatively easy to expose for most spiritual seekers. Yet the opposite
extreme is the kind of judgment expressed in this letter, namely the
kind that is disguised as being very loving.
People who are blinded by gray thinking are very vulnerable to this
form of judgment. For example, they adopt the attitude that a true spiritual
teacher should be loving and tolerant of any human conditions. They
truly believe that the only way to be loving is to never challenge people
and that any such act is judgmental. Yet what they fail to see is that
they themselves are very judgmental of those who do not conform to their
definition of what it means to be loving. In other words, many otherwise
sincere spiritual seekers think they are being completely loving, yet
they are very judgmental toward those they label as being unloving.
This is a clear inconsistency, and a person who is starting to rise
above gray thinking should be able to use these teachings to quickly
let go of all ties to the Spoilers. Do you think it is a coincidence
that these two letters were submitted within a short time and that they
so clearly demonstrate the two extremes of the energy of the Spoilers?
Of course not, which shows that the two people who wrote the letters
are simply exponents for a certain state of consciousness, and they
are playing a role that allowed me to release these teachings. Thus,
by recognizing that they are playing a role, both people – and
those who read this – can quickly separate themselves from their
respective version of the Spoiler consciousness and rise higher. Of
course, there is always a risk that people will choose to remain in
that consciousness. Yet as always, I can only respect people’s
free will, having now fulfilled my role of giving people the option
to make an informed choice.
Tying up loose ends
Consider the remark: “You are channeling Jesus through your own
Christ Self and your own personality. And the unknowable magnificence
and true spiritual splendor of Jesus Christ is surely limited and eclipsed
by that fact.” In reality, a messenger does not necessarily channel
through his or her Christ self. At the higher levels of the path, you
attain such integration with your I AM Presence that you give up your
Christ self. Kim and Lorraine have both attained to this level.
In order to reach that level, a person has to be willing to look at
absolutely anything in his or her psychology as both Kim and Lorraine
have been willing to do. Thus, neither of them make this mistake: “In
your self-righteousness you should not equate your personality/Christ
Self with Jesus Christ.” If they did do this, their work would
simply be the drivel of ego-driven people. I think anyone taking an
objective look at how they present themselves would be able to see that
they are trying very hard – perhaps too hard – NOT to set
themselves up above others.
In reality, people’s Christ selves are extensions of Jesus Christ
or another spiritual master and can thus be equated with their sources.
Obviously, this is not true for a person’s ego and personality.
The remark, “Because my Christ Self is as valuable as your Christ
Self.” is true in itself. Value judgments have no relevance for
the Christ self or spiritual beings. However, the following remark is
very problematic, “Every human being is channeling Jesus Christ
and all other spiritual Masters in their own unique ways.” First
of all, it is not true. For it to be true, two requirements would have
to be fulfilled:
When the two statements are
taken together, they reveal the outcome of gray thinking. Every person
is simply getting a unique message and it is wrong to judge whether
one message is better than another. Thus, one should refrain from any
kind of judgments. I agree that it is wrong to judge which message is
“better” based on a man-made value judgment that springs
from personal attachments. However, it is not wrong to evaluate which
messages are true and which are not, based on the discernment of the
Christ mind.
That is why is is not true to say, “True seekers do not compare
and do not judge others. For them there is only One Humanity and One
Love.” I have already commented on this, but I will repeat it.
True seekers must ALWAYS exercise and seek to improve their ability
to discern based on Christ truth. If you do not do this, you simply
WILL NOT make progress.
You may think you are very spiritual, but you will be following the
“way that seemeth right unto a man, but the ends thereof are the
ways of death.” You will be following the way of the ego and the
false teachers and the blind cannot lead the blind to a higher state
of consciousness.
Now for the following remarks:
“You are channeling Jesus through your own Christ Self and your
own personality. And the unknowable magnificence and true spiritual
splendor of Jesus Christ is surely limited and eclipsed by that fact.”
“do not give the impression that you have the monopoly on Jesus
Christ and his Living Words.”
First of all, my true spiritual Presence is not unknowable to a human
being. However in order to know me as I really am, you have to be willing
to let go of ALL man-made (your own or someone else’s) images
of how you think or want me to be. As Kim was being trained to serve
as my messenger for this website, he had to go through this process
and did so willingly. Thus, my true Presence is not in any way being
limited or eclipsed by Kim, and I have never had a messenger through
whom I could express myself more freely and directly.
What is being expressed on this website is not a reflection of how Kim
desires me to be. It is a reflection of how I chose to express myself
through Kim in order to best accomplish my purpose for this website.
He is willing to let me be who I will be through him.
Kim does not believe and has never claimed to have a monopoly on me.
In fact, he has been more open than most messengers to the fact that
I work with people at different levels of consciousness, as I explain
several places on this website, including this very
old message.
That being said, it is obvious that there is more to the ascended Jesus
Christ than what is being expressed on this website, as already
explained. No human messenger can fully express the totality of
an ascended being, neither is he or she required to. Thus, it is quite
possible that people can develop a personal relationship with me in
which I will be different than what you see here. It is even possible
that other people can serve as messengers through whom I express myself
differently to reach a different audience. However, I will never be
so different from what you see here that I become as the false Jesus/Sananda
to whom so many New Age seekers have become attached.
I you want to have a personal relationship with me, then you must be
willing to give up ALL of your expectations, images and desires about
how I should be. You must be willing to let me be who I will be to you
and through you. Otherwise you will be limiting me and possible projecting
a false image upon the Jesus you see on this website, thereby destroying
your opportunity to use the teachings on this site to overcome your
human image of me.
Finally, consider the remark, “That does not feel or sound like
the Jesus Christ living in the heart of every human being.” I
really don’t know where this idea came from. I wish it was true,
but most people on this planet have not found room for the real Jesus
Christ in their hearts. For many of them it is because they have invited
a false Jesus into their hearts, and since I respect their free will
– as opposed to the impostors – I must respectfully stand
back and wait for them to create room in the inn so that the Living
Christ can be born in their hearts.
Conclusion
If you compare this answer to the answer I gave to the recently submitted
letter, you will notice a distinct difference. The previous answer
stated that it is pointless to reason with the specific viewpoints expressed
by people in black-and-white thinking. Yet in this response I do reason
with specific viewpoints expressed. Let me make it clear that when people
are stuck in the lower levels of gray thinking, they are as unreachable
and unteachable as people stuck in black-and-white thinking. Thus, reasoning
with them is pointless, for they truly believe they know better. And
because their thinking is dualistic, they can always find an argument
to “prove” themselves right.
Yet as people rise to the higher levels of gray thinking, they do become
more open. The reason is that gray thinking will make people realize
that there is more than one correct viewpoint, so they eventually become
more open to considering your viewpoints openly. My point being that
although you will not always be successful, it is generally worth your
while to try to reason with gray thinkers. Yet it is important to try
to make them see that gray thinking is just the opposite relative extreme
of black-and-white thinking and that there is a higher reasoning, namely
the Christ mind. You must make them see that the fact that they recognize
there is more than one true spiritual teaching does not mean that all
spiritual teachings are true.
The more experienced seekers will realize the truth to this, and once
they let go of some of their last gray viewpoints, they can take a giant
leap forward and quickly rise to an entirely new level of the spiritual
path. Nothing is more gratifying for a spiritual teacher than to see
students who break through this barrier and become fully teachable.
Thus, I hope this teaching can help some of the more open-minded students
come to the full realization that there is something beyond both the
black-and-white and the gray thinking of the ego. Life on Earth is too
short and too precious to be based on the ego’s illusions.
