Where
do the teachings on this website come from?
My name is Kim Michaels, and it is my privilege and joy to serve as
the physical instrument for the creation of this website. I am aware
that many people will want to know where the teachings on this website
come from. Am I making all this up, or do the teachings come from a
higher source? Some people might even issue a challenge, like that given
to Jesus: "By what authority do you speak?" These are reasonable
questions, and I will attempt to answer them on this page.
In the previous discourses
in this New visitor section, I have
addressed the central dilemma faced by all true spiritual seekers. Do
you take the outer approach and allow a religious authority to tell
you what to believe, or do you take the inner approach and seek a higher
understanding directly from the spiritual realm? If you take the inner
approach, you must make a sincere effort to increase your ability to
discern what is true and valid, and this discernment can only come from
a higher source, a higher part of your being.
Different types of messengers
The central message on this
website is that all human beings have the potential to follow a gradual
path that leads to a higher state of consciousness. In this state of
consciousness, you will achieve conscious contact with a higher part
of your being, namely your higher self, or Christ self. This communion
will enable you to recognize, or discern, spiritual truth.
When you achieve this communion
with the spiritual realm, you might develop the capacity to serve as
a messenger for beings who reside in the spiritual realm. There are
a number of such beings, including Jesus, and they serve as the spiritual
teachers for humankind (for more on this, see the question, Is
Jesus all alone in heaven?). Throughout history, they have used
numerous messengers to bring forth new ideas, inventions and spiritual
teachings, all for the purpose of advancing the spiritual enlightenment
of humankind.
Attaining inner communion
is a perfectly natural process, and numerous people have achieved it
to various degrees. Some have started a new religion, while others have
served in different capacities or roles. However, the basis for it all
has been a direct communion with the spiritual realm.
As a messenger, you receive
a message from the spiritual realm, and you pass that message on to
someone else. This can be done in many different ways.
- Some people serve as "unconscious"
messengers, who receive their messages or ideas through intuitive
insights. They might not be aware that their insights come from the
spiritual realm (some don't even believe in the spiritual realm) and
they pass them on to the world as their own ideas.
- Some people serve as "conscious"
messengers and know where their ideas come from. However, such people
often pass on their insights without declaring that they are messengers
or stating where the ideas come from.
- Some
people have been charged with openly stating that they serve as messengers
(often using a different term than "messenger"). As part
of these people's service, it is necessary to declare where the teachings
come from.
No type of messenger is better
or more important than any other; they simply represent different ways
to serve the same purpose of spiritually awakening humankind. For more
on this, see the answer to the question, "Is
Kim Michaels your only messenger?"
How it all started
For the past 25 years, my
life has been devoted to spiritual growth. During this process, I have
worked diligently to establish and sharpen my personal communion with
my higher self. I describe this process in greater detail on a page
entitled Kim's story. However,
the key point is that my personal path culminated in my attaining a
direct communion with my higher self.
Through this communion, I
realized that my personal Master, or teacher, is Jesus. I was given
the gift of direct, inner communion with Jesus, who helped me overcome
my resistance to serving as his messenger.
In the beginning, I was somewhat
reluctant to accept this role, and I was especially concerned about
openly declaring that I am a messenger for Jesus. This reluctance was
partly based on my realization that some people would declare me insane
and partly due to my reluctance to take on the role of an authority
figure.
One day, I was meditating
deeply on this and asked Jesus if I could present his teachings without
openly declaring where they came from. Why not simply let people study
the teachings without giving a source, leaving it up to people to judge
the words by their merits? The answer came to me as clearly as if Jesus
was standing in the room: "He who denies me before men,
him must I deny before the Father!"
At that moment, my fear and
reluctance was gone, and I was at peace with openly declaring myself
as a messenger for Jesus. I realized that I have been given a spiritual
gift in the form of the capacity to serve as a messenger, and this gift
is not mine to hide.
Is this
website valid for you?
Obviously, I don't expect
everyone to accept my claim that I am a messenger for Jesus. Furthermore,
I can offer you no concrete, undeniable proof. However, the burden of
proof really isn't on me—it is on you!
If you take the outer approach
to religion, you will obviously reject the teachings on this website.
There are numerous arguments that will enable people to find an outer
reason for rejecting some or all of what is said here. The simple fact
is that when people use the outer approach to close their minds to a
higher understanding, it is impossible to reach them with a true spiritual
message. Even Jesus himself was rejected by the Sadducees and Pharisees,
because of they took the outer approach to religion.
If you take the inner approach
to spirituality, you don't need an outer proof. You are willing to evaluate
a teaching based on its own merits and you are constantly striving to
increase your discernment. This inner discernment is really the only
way to know whether a teaching contains truth. (For more on this, see
Jesus' welcome message.)
Truth is not necessarily
a matter of words or outer appearances. Truth is an inner quality, and
it can be determined only by vibration. As you apply the inner approach
and increase your discernment, you will learn how to recognize the vibration
of truth. This recognition will often come in the form os an intuitive
feeling that a given statement "makes sense." To learn a systematic
technique for increasing your ability to discern truth, see the How
to section.
Not a new
doctrine
It is important that you
understand the purpose behind the teachings on this website. These teachings
are not meant to create a complete or infallible doctrine that will
compete with or replace existing religious doctrines. The main purposes
behind these teachings are:
- To demonstrate through
an example that it is possible for anyone to achieve personal communion
with the spiritual realm. Your approach should be, "If he can
do it; I can do it!"
- To inspire you to strive
for personal communion and to offer you practical tools for attaining
this goal.
- To give you a foundation
for your personal search for a higher understanding. By using these
teachings as a stepping stone, you can gain deeper personal insights
into spiritual matters.
- To give you a guiding
rod that can help you evaluate what is true and valid for you personally.
- To help you realize that
there is much more to know about the spiritual side of life than what
is presented in the outer religious doctrines of this world.
- To help you realize that
the inner approach to spirituality opens up vast new opportunities
for healing the wounds caused by the outer approach to religion.
- To help you realize that
God always made sense and that you can make peace with God.
- To help you establish
a personal relationship to the spiritual beings who serve as your
teachers. These beings include, but are not limited to, Jesus.
By what authority do you speak?
I claim no authority of my
own. I have the authority of Him that sent me, but even that claim has
no validity to you unless it is confirmed in your heart.
I truly believe that if
you will study the teachings on this site with an open mind and heart
and apply the technique for increasing your inner
communion, Jesus will give you the answers you need.
If you desire such confirmation,
I suggest that you begin by studying the following teachings:
